Chapter 29 The Saintess's Ruthless Heart (Chapter 11)

What is a divine plot twist?

Everything that happened to Ji Xiaoxiao was the best illustration of a divine plot twist.

The word "but" vanished with the wind. The seven elders, kneeling and trembling on the high platform, each had a bowl-sized scar on their necks. Behind them, on the crystal-clear white jade wall, a liquid that was neither white nor red remained, and blood was still gurgling from the smooth wounds. The slight trembling of their fingers indicated that everything had been discovered in an instant.

"You're getting more and more confused as you get older. The Demon Heart Sect has already attacked the foot of Tianshan Mountain, and you still have the leisure to waste your breath on useless people. If you can't go through fire and water for the Holy Sect, what's the use of keeping your life?" The words were full of cold-blooded cruelty.

Ji Xiaoxiao keenly sensed that the elders were dying, and upon hearing the Immortal Lord's words, she looked up in surprise. The magnificent colors, the brutal scene, and the bloody massacre terrified her, and she screamed, unable to even kneel properly.

"So noisy and incessant, you want to go with them?" A pair of gold-trimmed white boots appeared before Ji Xiaoxiao's eyes, and her cold voice revealed an eager impulse.

Ji Xiaoxiao, having seen much of the world, quickly calmed her startled emotions, and her beautiful face regained its usual serene composure. "No, Immortal Lord."

"Good that you don't want to die." The man suddenly turned around, saying as he walked away, "The old men are almost all dead, you're in charge now!"

When Ji Xiaoxiao raised her head again, only the still-dead Shuiyueyun Manor Master and seven headless corpses remained in the Lotus Lotus Palace. The noble and powerful Immortal Lord had disappeared without a trace.

Ji Xiaoxiao stood up, dusted off any non-existent dust from her clothes, pondered for a moment with her head drooping, and then strode quickly away from the Lotus Palace. With the Demon Heart Sect's army pressing in, she didn't have time to think about such things. There's always a way forward; things will work themselves out. She'd deal with whatever came her way; there's always a solution.

As Ji Xiaoxiao walked out of the Lotus Palace, she suddenly stopped. "No, if the Demon Heart Sect's army has already reached the foot of Tianshan Mountain, why hasn't anyone reported it? The Immortal Lord can't be a fraud. So, there's only one most likely and only truth that can perfectly explain everything... This is bad."

"Ding ding ding," the sound of the dart hitting the jade was very crisp.

A dart flashed black light as it flew towards her. Ji Xiaoxiao quickly dodged, but before she could regain her footing, eight people with their faces covered by black cloths surged in from all directions. These people were all dressed in black, and the huge hoods on their clothes pulled them all into the darkness, making it impossible for outsiders to see their faces.

Ji Xiaoxiao calmly dodged left and right, regaining her footing without haste. Her toes rested on the eaves of the Lotus Palace, her white robes billowing in the wind. Her indifferent gaze swept over the man in black, like a deity looking at a ghost of insufficient cultivation.

The men in black were unfazed, and with perfect coordination, they blocked all of Ji Xiaoxiao's escape routes. Each of them carried a different weapon, ready to be unleashed, waiting for their prey to reveal even the slightest weakness so that it would be swallowed whole by their gaping maws.

Ji Xiaoxiao glanced at the men in black who had surrounded her, smiled contemptuously, and said coldly, "Gu Lianxin, it's been three years, and you've certainly grown more capable. Knowing you're no match for me, you've come up with some help."

"White Lotus, you're all talk and no action. Once you're in my hands, I'll make you wish you were dead." Gu Lianxin slowly stepped out from behind a man in black.

Clad in a flowing red robe, her long, waist-length hair bound by a black belt, her lips, as red as flowing blood, were almost dripping with moisture. Her alluring eyes were filled with laughter and arrogance. With a delicate, pointed finger at Ji Xiaoxiao, her half-open lips flashing with white light, she said, "White Lotus, this day next year will be your death anniversary." Gu Lianxin walked towards Ji Xiaoxiao step by step, every movement exuding seduction. "Hahaha, the pillar of the righteous path of the martial world? The Heavenly Lotus Holy Sect, unapologetically calling itself an ancient sect, my Demon Heart Sect can come and go as it pleases. A hundred years ago, your Lotus Holy Sect destroyed the four pillars of my demonic path. Thirty years east of the river, thirty years west of the river, the wheel of fortune turns. Today, it is time for your Lotus Holy Sect to pay for your blood debt."

At the summit of the mountain, stands the Lotus Palace.

Snow, pure white snow, falling thick and fast. A gentle breeze sweeps away a patch, and the snowflakes eagerly fill in the gaps again; kind-hearted people are always fair.

Snowflakes landed on Ji Xiaoxiao's face, but she didn't care. With a wave of her right hand, the ice and frost within two meters of her body disappeared. "Gu Lianxin, don't be so sure of yourself. A hundred years ago, even the Four Pillars of the Demonic Path were no match for our Holy Sect. What ability does the Demon Heart Sect, all alone, have to act recklessly in front of the Holy Sect? Those who are self-righteous usually end up dying a very ugly death."

Upon hearing this, Gu Lianxin's bright smile froze. She slowly opened her mouth in disbelief, her delicate, boneless hands trembling. "I actually considered an idiot as my lifelong rival. I was so stupid."

Gu Lianxin's attempt to provoke her was not clever, and Ji Xiaoxiao was not swayed by it, but simply smiled and remained silent.

Her eyes barely darted around as she observed her surroundings, silently assessing the strength of her opponents. From their methodical, unhurried, and deadly attacks, she could tell they were not to be trifled with. Moreover, they had lurked outside the Lotus Palace, undetected even by the elders within, demonstrating their formidable martial arts. To expect her to single-handedly defeat nine masters, especially without knowing their names or techniques, was absurd. Victory would be impossible; escaping would require consulting the almanac to see if today was an unlucky day.

Since we can't win, we absolutely can't lose. But having a brain is definitely an advantage!

Anything is possible!

A series of perfect plans quickly took shape in Ji Xiaoxiao's mind: to shoot a man, shoot his horse first; to capture a thief, capture his king first. Without a leader, even a master without organization is nothing more than a shrimp soldier or a crab general.
