The security guard walked towards Ji Xiaoxiao and asked with concern, "How are you feeling?"
"It's alright, I can easily climb five floors in one go," Ji Xiaoxiao joked.
She returned the coat to the security guard, who then put it on.
"You've finally decided to come out, Tang Yu."
Without a doubt, this person is none other than the ever-present Zhou Li.
After returning home yesterday, Zhou Li grew angrier the more she thought about it. A mere security guard had humiliated her, and she had completely lost face. Punching and kicking Tang Song had vented most of her anger, and Zhou Li secretly vowed to make Tang Yu and that security guard pay tomorrow.
"Tang Yu, give me back the money you stole, or I'll call the police."
One night was enough for Zhou Li to devise a perfect plan.
Ji Xiaoxiao said, "What master of mine stole your money?"
"If you hadn't stolen our money, would you be living in this neighborhood?" Everyone knows about the ghost stories in this neighborhood, but it has the advantage of a beautiful environment and convenient transportation. However, the rent is still ridiculously expensive for ordinary people.
Zhou Li doesn't believe in gods and ghosts, or perhaps, because she's poor, she can't afford to believe in them.
Zhou Li discreetly examined the haunted neighborhood. It was filled with green trees and red flowers, koi in a pond, and spacious housing—a far cry from her old, dilapidated shack.
"This is mine, and it can only be mine."
Zhou Li gave Tang Song a wink, and Tang Song immediately said, "Tang Yu, listen to your sister-in-law. Take out the money now, and we can let bygones be bygones. We're still family."
Her own brother, upholding justice and even turning against family, caused Ji Xiaoxiao's reputation to plummet, and people began whispering among themselves about the bad things she had done.
Ji Xiaoxiao narrowed her eyes. What did it matter to her if the world was like this? It was just that Zhou Li and Tang Song were so disgusting that she felt like throwing up the millet porridge she had eaten that morning.
The original owner treated Tang Song exceptionally well, and out of love for Tang Song, she extended that kindness to the domineering Zhou Li, satisfying her vanity as much as possible. The original owner treated them kindly without expecting anything in return, yet they shamelessly demanded more. If she didn't give in or satisfy them, they were branded as wicked villains, truly embodying the old saying, "A small favor is appreciated, but a large favor breeds resentment."
"Tang Song, your family has never included me."
If Tang Song truly considered the original owner of this body as family, she wouldn't have come into the world.
"You have the nerve to say something like accusing me of stealing money from your family. I have a newfound appreciation for your shamelessness."
Ji Xiaoxiao, unafraid of embarrassment, deliberately created a huge spectacle to attract more onlookers. The crowd was immense, a veritable sea of people.
Seeing that the number of people was almost there, Ji Xiaoxiao said, "Let's do a proper calculation today."
Zhou Li and Tang Song exchanged a glance, realizing something was wrong.
"Eight years ago, because you, Tang Song, embezzled company funds to buy Zhou Li a house, a car, and jewelry, the company left by our parents went bankrupt, and we were left homeless. You were penniless and abandoned by Zhou Li. You were depressed and dejected, and you were gloomy all day long. It was I, Tang Yu, who raised you and supported you for eight years."
Ji Xiaoxiao spread out her hands; her palms were yellow and rough.
"A year after Zhou Li abandoned you, she came back to get back together with you, and you begged her on your knees to agree. Tang Song, I'll just ask you one question: are you even a man anymore? How many more times are you going to make mistakes for this woman before you're satisfied?"
Ji Xiaoxiao grabbed Tang Song's collar and started yelling at the top of her lungs, completely disregarding her image.
Tang Song opened his mouth and said, "Zhou Li is a good woman, I won't allow you to talk about her like that."
Tang Song firmly believed that Zhou Li was the best woman in the world.
"Good woman? Bah! You know she didn't come back to you for good reasons. She's pregnant and can't support herself, so she's asking you, her sucker, to help raise her child."
Ji Xiaoxiao shook her head listlessly, "No, it's me. I'm the one who's being taken advantage of. You, Tang Song, do nothing all day long. It's just me, a woman, supporting your whole family. It's been seven years. I'm tired. I don't want to live for you anymore."
The original owner's entire life revolved around Tang Song and the others. Enough, really enough.
The onlookers remained silent, their eyes wide with shock.
It seems they've wronged someone?
Tang Song didn't notice the astonishment and disgust in everyone's eyes, and continued, "Tang Yu, I know you've worked hard all these years, but Lily is delicate and can't stay in those low-class hotels. I think this place is fine. Can't you let us stay here for a few days? Why are you so stingy? You weren't like this before."
Tang Song was utterly disappointed. His beloved sister was gone forever, and he had inadvertently fallen into a petty and calculating philistine.
Zhou Li chimed in, "Your brother is right. You're only able to earn so much money because of the pressure we put on you. Without us, you wouldn't have been able to earn this much. So, this house belongs to me half."
