Chapter 35. All
Zhang Haoyu helped Ruan Tang get front-row tickets for the birthday party of a young boy band member who had debuted solo. A fan club member had created a live support group for the birthday party and asked everyone to submit their ticket stubs as proof of membership. As soon as Ruan Tang sent her ticket stub, she was met with a barrage of frantic groundhog screaming emojis.
She had always been a casual fan, but this was the first time she'd felt a sense of validation outside of real life. It was like a small ocean fish, usually surrounded by only a few companions, suddenly encountering a large school of its own kind, all swimming in the same direction. So she happily joined the weekend airport pickup.
Following a group of young girls holding light boards and flowers, they cheered with a group of people when their idol appeared at the airport exit, shouting in the direction of their idol: "Baby! Mommy loves you!"
Everything was so exciting that it made her feel ten years younger. If she hadn't been accidentally pushed down by the crowd and injured her arms and knees while standing on the periphery, perhaps this memory would have been perfect.
Feng Xue applied the medicine to her. Xu Wei, who had rushed over after hearing the news, frowned and asked in confusion, "Are you optimistic about the coffee shop's profitability now? You actually closed the shop all day to chase celebrities."
She was too embarrassed to reveal her true feelings in front of Feng Xue, so she stuck out her tongue and said: People always need a spiritual sustenance.
While Feng Xue was making coffee behind the counter, Ruan Tang said pitifully: You don't know, I'm guarding this shop every day, it's like being in prison, sometimes I really feel lonely. I used to be able to chat with Feng Xue every day, but recently he seems to be deliberately avoiding me. When chatting with those young people, the loneliness seems to be instantly dispelled. At worst, I won't chase them offline in the future.
Xu Wei sighed, patted her shoulder and said: No one wants to choose loneliness, but will be chosen by loneliness. Congratulations, you are the one chosen by light.
Ruan Tang glanced at her and complained: Why are you suddenly talking like an immature person?
She took a moment to react and suddenly realized something was wrong.
"Eh? Didn't you just tell me that loneliness is a normal part of life? Why are you suddenly staying out of this? Is something going on?"
Xu Wei spread her hands: His company has had some financial problems recently, and he has been so busy that he is nowhere to be seen. What could be the situation?
"I haven't told you who it's with yet, and you two really have something going on!" Ruan Tang was so excited that her elbow hit the table beside her, and she instantly put on a mask of pain again.
Xu Wei quickly pulled her aside, making a "hush" gesture. She glanced at Feng Xue, who was busy behind the counter, and whispered, "I'll tell you when I have a clue about your fate. What about you? White Rose and Red Rose, you're facing a dilemma that every man in the world believes they will face. Have you made a decision?"
"One is a young and energetic little wolfdog who will do anything you ask for," Ruan Tang held up her left and right index fingers and placed them together. "And the other is a man who may be unromantic and reserved, but mature and intelligent. Weiwei, can I make a mistake that all men would make and take them all?"
Xu Wei was drinking coffee and choked when she heard her words. Coffee stains splattered all over her knitted wide-leg pants like fireworks, as if cheering for Ruan Tang's bold idea.
"What a modern version of eating in the east and sleeping in the west." Xu Wei sighed.
Ruan Tang's eyes lit up and she asked, "Is there such a story?" It seems the ancients were as wise as I am.
As she spoke, she took out her cell phone and started checking. Half a minute later, she reached out and pretended to hit Xu Wei, telling her not to mock her in such a pedantic way.
As the two were talking, Xu Wei's eyes suddenly lit up and she said: I have a way!
About half an hour later, the two stood in front of a tarot shop. Ruan Tang asked helplessly: Is this the method you mentioned?
Xu Wei nodded seriously: I heard from people in the circle that this place is particularly effective, and many celebrities have been here.
"Weren't you a staunch materialist before? Didn't you disbelieve in metaphysics?"
"There are always exceptions. Premier Zhou Enlai once wrote in a love letter to his wife: 'I have been a staunch materialist all my life. Only for you do I hope there is an afterlife. Anyway, let's just give it a try.'"
A tarot master in a lavender dress and with waist-length curly hair led Ruan Tang into a compartment. The room was surrounded by dark red gauze and various portraits of Greek mythology were hung on the walls. She looked around and the tarot master suddenly began to shuffle the cards with a mysterious look on his face: "Miss, now please close your eyes and concentrate. Repeat your questions in your mind attentively, and then draw eight cards from the deck."
The whole process took less than half an hour. Ruan Tang came out and saw Xu Wei press three zeros in a row when paying. She froze in place as if she had been struck by lightning.
Xu Wei pulled her out of the store and asked: You look so serious, do you have the answer?
Ruan Tang answered seriously: I was thinking, why don’t I go back to become a disciple, and then turn the coffee shop into a tarot hall. This is too... too profitable, right?
"Why does your ambition always burst out when it shouldn't?" Xu Wei was speechless.
Ruan Tang thought that she was the financial sponsor after all, so she quickly took her arm and said with a smile: How do you know there must be an answer?
"Have you ever heard of the coin-flipping theory? It's about when you don't know whether to choose A or B, you flip a coin. It's not because the coin will give you the correct answer, but because the moment the coin is flipped, you know which one you prefer."
Ruan Tang was at a loss for words: "So you went to all this trouble just to create an environment where I could listen to my inner voice? Then why didn't you just let me flip a coin at home?"
"Isn't this more ceremonial?" Xu Wei saw a coffee shop nearby, pulled Ruan Tang over there, and said: The coffee here is good, you should go and learn from them.
While ordering, Ruan Tang recalled the tarot reader's comment: "What's been bothering you lately is probably emotionally connected, right?" The emotional aspect corresponds to the Strength card, suggesting that even in difficult and dangerous situations, you must rely on courage, confidence, and patience to navigate and adapt accordingly. It's not about external power, but about facing your inner courage and perseverance. Wu Song slaying a tiger and a wise woman taming a lion are two completely different concepts. Conflict and indecision will constantly drag you down, holding you back...
Thinking of this, Ruan Tang subconsciously shouted: I don’t want it!
The coffee shop was very quiet. Apart from the white-collar elites working in the office, the remaining urban beauties who were drinking afternoon tea in groups of three or four were all talking in low voices. Her voice directly attracted the attention of 90% of them.
Xu Wei held the coffee menu in her hand, subconsciously turned her body to the side with her back to the crowd, and whispered to her: If you don't want it, then don't want it, then choose one for yourself.
Ruan Tang pulled Xu Wei and said she had made up her mind. Xu Wei continued to carefully look through the coffee menu without even raising her head and asked: Which one do you want?
"I don't want any of them."
"This one is really good. Just think of it as learning from them..."
"I'm talking about Feng Xue and Zhang Haoyu. I'm not choosing either of them for now."
"ah?"
"Dating and getting married is like buying a bag and matching the accessories. If you don't choose the right accessories, you won't get the bag you want most. I just want to give myself some more time. It makes me angry when I talk about it. When the tarot reader was doing the analysis today, I was in a trance the whole time and I didn't remember much of what she said. I was just wondering how to tell you that your money was wasted. But fortunately, I have figured it out. I have been comparing and weighing the two of them recently to see which one is the most suitable for me. Putting aside the fact that Feng Xue has no intention of being with me now, if the two of them can be compared in my mind, then it means that neither of them is what I want most at the moment."
Before Xu Wei could come to her senses, Ruan Tang had already taken the coffee order from her, walked to the order counter, pointed at the menu and said: This, this, this... and this, one cup each, please.
