Chapter 281 Encountering a Wolf Pack
The next second, the shrill howl of a wolf tore through the silence of the forest.
“Ouch…”
The group stopped and looked around warily. In an instant, a dense group of gray wolves rushed out from the bushes, with sharp white fangs and saliva dripping from their fangs.
"Awoo..." There was another howl, and the wolves rushed towards them.
Tianyi and his companions immediately engaged in flashes of swords and sabers, and the first few wolves that pounced on them were covered in blood.
Lan Xiyue's eyelids twitched. Fortunately, this was deep in Lingfeng Mountain. Otherwise, if these wolves escaped, the people in the nearby villages would be in trouble. "Oh my god, so many wolves!"
"Two incense sticks, it's over." As he finished speaking, Mo Liyuan carried Lan Xiyue up to the top of a ten-foot-tall old pine tree, his sleeves fluttering as he covered her eyes. "Don't look."
Lan Xiyue was speechless. She was not one of those greenhouse grown-up girls. This situation was no big deal for her.
Lan Xiyue pulled Mo Liyuan's hand away and looked down.
An Yi was bending at a strange angle, and the long sword cut open the wolf's belly from bottom to top. The hot wolf blood splattered on his face, dyeing half of his face scarlet.
Mo Liyuan shook his head helplessly, and tucked her wind-blown hair behind her ears with his fingertips. Yes, his Yue'er was different from those girls in the boudoir.
Zhang Wu and others killed wild wolves back to back. One young man was hit on the shoulder by the wolf's claws, but he gritted his teeth and stabbed his sword into the wolf's eyes.
"Be careful!" An Yi shouted, and the long sword in his hand stabbed out like a dragon, piercing through a wolf that was attacking Zhang Wu.
Zhang Wu was still frightened and said thank you.
An Yi snorted coldly: "Be careful, how dare you get distracted at this time." After he finished speaking, his eyes fixed on a protruding boulder not far away.
There, an exceptionally large silver-grey wolf was looking down at the battlefield from above. Its eyes were cold and cunning. Unlike other wolves that attacked blindly, it was like a general directing the battle.
Whenever their men showed a weakness, it would let out a short howl, and immediately several wolves would attack from different directions.
"Wolf King!" A gleam of light flashed in An Yi's eyes. He immediately pointed his toes and leaped towards the huge rock like an arrow.
The wolf king seemed to sense the threat and turned to look at An Yi, with a hint of human contempt in his eyes.
Lan Xiyue was amused by what she saw. "Mo Liyuan, look, that's the Wolf King, right? I actually saw a mockery of An Yi in its eyes. I'm afraid it's about to become a spirit."
Mo Liyuan glanced over there calmly, "The Wolf King is no match for An Yi."
An Yi was in mid-air, sneering: "You beast, you actually look down on me. Today I will let you know what the consequences of looking down on me are!" As soon as he finished speaking, the long sword in An Yi's hand went straight for the wolf king's throat.
Just as the sword was about to strike, the wolf king suddenly turned sideways at incredible speed and swung his front paws violently.
With a "swish", An Yi's sleeve was torn into three pieces, and blood immediately seeped out.
Lan Xiyue frowned and was about to throw the silver needle in her hand at the Wolf King.
Mo Liyuan said, "Yuer, let him handle it himself."
"Well......"
An Yi cursed, "Damn it! I was careless."
He spat, a raging fighting spirit burning in his eyes, and he swung his sword to attack again. This time he did not underestimate the enemy, and his sword moves were sharp and fierce, each one targeting the wolf king's vital points.
A hint of human surprise flashed across the Wolf King's eyes. He had clearly not expected this human to unleash such power after being injured. He dodged nimbly, but An Yi's sword was like a violent storm, leaving him no chance to breathe.
"Swoosh--" An Yi suddenly changed his move, and the sword tip was raised at his face at a strange angle. The Wolf King retreated hastily, but found that it was just a feint.
At some point, An Yi flashed behind the Wolf King and thrust his sword out like a poisonous snake, aiming straight at the Wolf King's heart.
The wolf king's hair stood on end. The beast's instinct made it sense the deadly danger. It twisted its body forcefully, and the tip of the sword grazed its abdomen, leaving a bloody mark.
"Awoo!" The wolf king let out a shrill scream and staggered back a few steps. His silver-gray fur was stained red with blood. Fear appeared in his dark green eyes for the first time, but more of it was filled with raging rage.
How could An Yi miss such an opportunity? He tiptoed, his figure approaching ghostly, and his longsword precisely swept across the wolf king's throat.
The wolf king's howling stopped abruptly. Its huge body shook a few times and fell to the ground with a bang. Its eyes, which were full of resentment, gradually lost their luster and it slowly died.
When the wolves saw that their king was dead, they immediately became confused. Some began to retreat, while others pounced on them frantically. Tianyi and others seized the opportunity, and with the flash of swords and the shadow of sabers, the remaining wolves were quickly wiped out.
On the treetop, Mo Liyuan, who was watching the show, hugged Lan Xiyue and jumped down from the tree.
Many people had suffered minor injuries. Lan Xiyue's mind flashed, and several porcelain bottles appeared in her hand. "Tianyi, there are healing medicines in the porcelain bottles. Take them."
Tianyi took the porcelain bottle and gave the others to the injured. He took the bottle and walked to Anyi, "Tsk, tsk, tsk, just a wolf king hurt you?"
An Yi glared at Tian Yi, snatched the porcelain bottle from his hand, and sprinkled it on his injured arm. An Yi snorted coldly: "Don't gloat over my misfortune. I was just careless for a moment."
Mo Liyuan glanced at the wolf carcasses scattered across the ground and frowned. "The smell of blood is too strong," he said coldly, "Bury the bodies of these wolves right here."
Upon hearing this, Tianyi and others immediately took action. Without any tools, they used swords to dig a hole. Soon they dug a big hole in the soft woodland, threw all the wolf corpses into the hole and buried them.
After cleaning up, the group continued to walk deeper into Lingfeng Mountain. As they went deeper, the surrounding trees became taller and denser, and the air was filled with a damp smell of earth, mixed with some indescribable strange taste.
