Chapter 29: Go back to where you came from

Chapter 29: Go back to where you came from

Madam Yun Qing stood in the middle of the hall, her face ashen and her chest heaving violently with anger.

Her finger trembled as she pointed at Lan Xiyue beside her. Her voice was sharp with anger, "I've loved you so much all these years in vain! Someone, lock the young lady up in the ancestral hall and make her kneel down as punishment!"

As soon as the words fell, several maids and servants quickly stepped forward to carry out the lady's orders.

Lan Xiyue picked up a long whip beside her. She swung it hard, and the tip of the whip drew a sharp arc in the air, making a crisp "snap" sound.

"If you are not afraid of death, come forward."

The maids and old women immediately stopped and turned to look at Madam Yun Qing, their eyes full of fear and anxiety.

Seeing this, Yun Qing was furious. She took a step forward, her voice trembling, "You are truly rebellious!"

Lan Xiyue chuckled, that smile tinged with sarcasm and disdain: "It's all thanks to your good teaching, Auntie!"

"You..." Yun Qing staggered slightly in anger. She never thought that the waste she had raised would now contradict her like this.

She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself, then said coldly, "Let's go. Miss, you are disrespectful to your elders and you are confined to Xilingyuan. From now on, no one from Xilingyuan is allowed to step out of the courtyard without my order."

After saying that, Madam Yun Qing left Xi Ling Yuan with a group of maids and servants in a grand manner.

Lan Xiyue stood there, looking at their backs, a sneer on her lips.

Chuxia walked to the gate of the courtyard and saw the guards standing guard at the door, feeling anxious.

She stamped her feet, then turned and ran back, saying to Lan Xiyue, "Miss, you are under house arrest again, and this time there are guards guarding the gate."

Lan Xiyue sneered, "Are you angry? Ha! I want to go out, can the people at the door stop me?"

Chuchun lowered her head, her fine hair covering half of her cheek. Tears welled up in her eyes, and her voice was choked with sobs: "Miss, it's all my fault. If it weren't for me, you wouldn't have quarreled with Madam, and you wouldn't have been grounded..."

Lan Xiyue glanced at her lightly, then spoke slowly, her voice as cold as icicles in the wind: "Without you, I would have fallen out with her sooner or later."

She is not the original owner, who would be fooled by Yun Qing, a hypocritical woman.

"Chuxia, go call the maid in our yard."

Chu Xia frowned when she heard this and asked in confusion, "Miss, why did you call them here?"

Lan Xiyue took a sip of the hot tea on the table. The wafting aroma formed a stark contrast with the coldness in her eyes. She said coldly, "My dear aunt came here specially, not just to play. No one informed her, so how did she know what happened in my yard?"

When Chu Xia heard this, she immediately flew into a rage. She put her hands on her hips and said indignantly, "Okay, this traitor will be caught and punished later."

As soon as she finished speaking, she turned around and hurried away to summon the maids from Xilingyuan.

After a while, the maids from Xilingyuan came in one after another, with their heads hung low, not daring to breathe. Although the eldest lady had never punished them before, she had a bad temper, and they were all feeling uneasy.

Lan Xiyue sat at the head of the table, her expression calm. She gently raised her hand and said in a calm yet powerful voice, "Everyone, raise your heads."

Upon hearing this, the maids all looked up, with fear and a hint of nervousness in their eyes.

Lan Xiyue picked up the teacup and took another sip. She slowly glanced at everyone, and finally her gaze stopped on Chuqiu and Chudong.

Especially in early autumn, her hands were tightly clutching the corners of her clothes, her face was pale, and her eyes were full of tension and anxiety.

Lan Xiyue smiled gently, but there was a hint of coldness in that smile: "Chu Qiu, how do I treat you?" Her voice was soft and low, but like a sharp dagger, piercing Chu Qiu's heart.

Upon hearing this, Chu Qiu knelt down with a plop and said in a trembling voice, "The... young lady is very good to... me." Her tone was full of fear and helplessness, as if she would collapse at any time.

Lan Xiyue gently put down the teacup, making a crisp sound.

She turned her gaze to the side, her tone cold and resolute: "Since I've been so good to you, why are you still betraying me?"

These words were like a thunderclap, exploding in everyone's ears.

Chu Qiu's heart tightened and she shook her head in panic, tears streaming down her cheeks: "I didn't." Her voice was weak and powerless, but she still tried to defend herself.

Lan Xiyue had already raised her hand and pointed at Chu Qiu: "Didn't you go to tell my good aunt the news?"

When Chu Qiu heard this, her heart sank, her face turned even paler, and she trembled as she spoke, "Miss, no... not a servant."

At this time, a maid said, "Miss, I saw Chuqiu go out just now."

Chu Qiu's body stiffened, and she turned around and glared at the maid who had just spoken.

"Oh? You are?"

The maid came out and knelt on the ground, "My servant Xiaocao is the maid responsible for cleaning the yard."

"Get up."

"Thank you, Miss."

Lan Xiyue looked at Chuqiu again, "Chuqiu, since your heart is not in Xilingyuan, then you don't have to stay in Xilingyuan."

Chu Qiu raised her head and asked, "Miss?"

Lan Xiyue said calmly, "Chuqiu, Chudong, go back to where you came from."

Chu Dong was stunned, and hurriedly walked out and knelt on the ground, "Miss, I am innocent!"

Lan Xiyue said calmly, "I know you belong to my good aunt. She's the one who asked you to spy on me. If there's any disturbance in my yard, you'll tell her, right? I'm not afraid of her, but I can't tolerate any sand in my eyes."

Chu Qiu and Chu Dong kowtowed on the ground, "Miss, please don't chase us away. We know we are wrong."

They were in Xilingyuan, where there wasn't much work to do and the monthly salary was good. If they were kicked out, the lady would probably not tolerate them and would just sell them off, so the two girls were extremely anxious.

Chuxia pulled Chuqiu and said, "Hurry up and leave. A loyal servant will not serve two masters. Leave Xilingyuan immediately."

Chu Qiu choked up and said, "Miss, please give me another chance!"

"I'm being merciful by letting you go now. If I'd been fussy, you might not have gotten away unscathed."

Chuqiu suddenly didn't dare to beg for mercy anymore, and Chudong also fell silent. The two turned around and walked out to pack up their things. Chuxia watched from the side. After they packed up, they left Xilingyuan.

Chu Dong walked forward and said a few words to the guards, who then let them go.

Lan Xiyue looked at the others and said, "Since you are working in Xilingyuan, do your job well. If you don't want to stay in Xilingyuan any longer, you can leave now."
