Chapter 301: You want to threaten me with a child you don’t even know?
An Yi's urgent voice rang out: "Princess, be careful!"
The man in black was furious. He had never expected that the daughter of the marquis's family would be so skilled and keep chasing him.
In a hurry, he caught a glimpse of an old man and a child staggering on the road ahead.
A fierce look flashed in the eyes of the man in black. He jumped up and landed on the ground in an instant, then grabbed the little girl who was playing with her head down.
"Grandfather, Grandfather..." The girl burst into tears in horror, her voice filled with endless fear and helplessness.
The old man beside him turned pale when he saw this, and cried out in a trembling voice: "Niuniu, please let my Niuniu go!"
The man in black shouted angrily and unconsciously increased the strength in his hands. The little girl was strangled to the point of being unable to breathe. She could only sob and dared not make another sound.
He stared fiercely at Lan Xiyue opposite him: "If you come any closer, I'll break this girl's neck!"
Lan Xiyue stopped and stared at the man in black with a cold gaze: "Do you have any professional ethics at all? How dare you arrest an innocent child?"
The man in black felt extremely helpless. He wanted to refute, but his life was at stake at the moment, so he had no time to think about anything else. He smiled grimly and said, "Don't chase me anymore, and I will naturally let this child go."
Lan Xiyue's expression darkened. She clenched her fists and suppressed the anger in her heart: "Okay, you'd better do what you say."
Seeing this, the man in black felt relieved. He grabbed the little girl and stepped back, trying to take this opportunity to escape.
The old man stamped his feet anxiously and shouted, "Niuniu, let my Niuniu go!"
Lan Xiyue just stood there quietly, her eyes fixed on the man in black and the little girl.
Only after the man in black walked away with the little girl did she slowly turn around and say to the old man, "Old man, please wait here. I will bring your Niuniu back."
When the old man heard this, tears welled up in his eyes. He wiped away the tears from the corners of his eyes with trembling hands, feeling both grateful and worried.
Lan Xiyue jumped and dodged, chasing after him.
The man in black seemed unaware of being pursued and continued to hurriedly walk through the forest path.
Lan Xiyue followed closely behind, holding a row of tiny silver needles tightly in her hand, with a cold light flashing in her eyes. Once she made a move, she had to hit the target with one strike, otherwise the consequences would be unimaginable.
The time finally came, and the man in black stepped into an open space, his steps slightly slow.
Lan Xiyue seized this opportunity, flicked her wrist, and the silver needle shot out like an arrow, straight to the back of the man in black.
In the split second, the man in black seemed to have noticed something and slightly tilted his body, causing the silver needle to deviate from its target, only glancing past the corner of his clothes and piercing deeply into the tree trunk.
The man in black spun around abruptly, his dark gaze sweeping around like a knife, finally settling on the tree behind Lan Xiyue. "Get out!" His voice was low and hoarse, full of menace.
Lan Xiyue had no choice but to slowly walk out from behind the tree. The man in black stared at her, his eyes full of vigilance and hostility.
"Okay, if you dare to catch up with me, I'll break her neck right now." As he spoke, he tightened his grip on the little girl. The little girl's eyes were full of fear and tears.
Lan Xiyue's heart tightened, but she remained calm. "Let her go, and go. I promise I won't catch up with you again."
The man in black just sneered, "Bullshit, do you think I still believe you?" His tone was full of disdain and ridicule.
Lan Xiyue's face darkened. "If you dare to kill her, you won't be able to escape. You might as well trust me again?" There was a hint of imperceptible urgency in her tone.
The man in black remained unmoved. He grabbed the little girl and retreated step by step until he reached the edge of a cliff. Looking at the bottomless abyss below, the man in black showed a ferocious smile on his face.
"Lan Xiyue, I underestimated you. Either you cut off one of your arms, or watch this child die because of you."
Lan Xiyue's eyes became complicated, and she smiled faintly, "You want to threaten me with a child you don't know?" There was a hint of sarcasm and disdain in her tone.
In her opinion, cutting off one's own arm for a child she had never met was simply absurd. Did the man in black really think she was kindhearted? Could he cut off his own arm for a child he didn't know? However, the little girl's tearful eyes were like a needle, deeply hurting her heart.
Seeing that Lan Xiyue refused to budge, the man in black had a ruthless look in his eyes. He turned around abruptly, picked up the little girl beside him, and threw her off the cliff without mercy.
Lan Xiyue's eyes were instantly filled with murderous intent, and the silver needle in her hand shot out like a meteor, aiming straight at the vital point of the man in black. However, the man in black dodged the fatal blow.
Lan Xiyue moved extremely fast and instantly arrived in front of the man in black. She slapped him hard on the chest. The man in black staggered as if hit by a huge hammer and was actually shaken and flew towards the cliff.
Lan Xiyue jumped down without hesitation and rushed towards the little girl.
The little girl screamed in terror in the air and fainted. Lan Xiyue tried to catch the little girl several times, but the distance was too far and she failed to catch her. Finally, she fell into a lake under the cliff with a "plop".
Following closely, Lan Xiyue also fell into the lake, splashing water everywhere.
Lan Xiyue struggled to her feet, her eyes anxiously searching for the little girl. She plunged into the water, the water icy cold, but she paid no heed. Finally, not far away, she saw the little girl's slowly sinking figure.
Lan Xiyue swam over with all her might, grabbed the unconscious little girl and swam towards the shore. She swam to the shore with the little girl in her arms and walked up with difficulty.
Lan Xiyue slumped on the shore, gasping for breath.
She laid the little girl flat on the ground, carefully examined her body, pressed on her stomach, and the little girl spit out a few mouthfuls of water before slowly opening her eyes.
"It's okay." Lan Xiyue comforted softly.
Upon hearing this, the little girl burst into tears, tears rolling down like beads from a broken string.
Lan Xiyue sat on the ground to rest, quietly waiting for the little girl to cry enough.
Finally, the little girl was tired of crying. She looked at Lan Xiyue slowly, her voice choked with sobs: "Sister, I want to go home..."
"Don't be afraid, sister will take you home."
Lan Xiyue looked around and saw only towering ancient trees and shrouded in clouds and mist. As far as her eyes could see, there were cliffs that reached straight into the sky. There was no place to hold on to, and no vines to rely on. It would undoubtedly be a pipe dream to want to climb up these cliffs with the little girl beside her.
Lan Xiyue looked towards the lake and didn't see the man in black. She frowned, but thinking that the man in black would not survive the violent blow to the chest, Lan Xiyue didn't take it to heart.
