Zhao Xiaoya looked at the two silver bracelets with different patterns with nostalgia in her eyes.
She pointed to one of them and said, "This belongs to Sister Hui. Her mother left it to her."
"I bought this for Sister Hui after I earned some money. I thought I'd give it to her when I see her again."
Xu Ning looked carefully at the bracelet in his hand, and found some powdery substance in the gaps between the patterns on Meng Huihui's bracelet.
He wrapped the handkerchief carefully.
"I'm going to take these down and inspect them. I'll return them to you when I'm done."
Zhao Xiaoya nodded and looked at the man squatting on the ground with a droopy face. She asked with a choked voice: "I want to go to the police station to testify. These people have no conscience. If I really had a conscience, I wouldn't be here."
Qian Chuan looked at Zhao Xiaoya with some confusion and asked, "I haven't seen you in Yanjiang Village. How can you be sure that you are the Meng Huihui we took away?"
Zhao Xiaoya suddenly smiled: "Do you think that no one else has suspected you over the years?"
"Even though it's a daughter's wedding, it's not normal for her to not even reply to a single letter from home, right?"
She looked at Lao Qian as if he was a fool.
Lao Qian was obviously stunned, his expression a little unnatural. He had made a lot of money over the years, so he was not as afraid as he was at the beginning about this method of making money quickly and easily. Without fear, he was naturally not so cautious.
He didn't give up and glared at Yao Qiyue hatefully. He didn't blame anyone else for this today, but this weird Yao Qiyue. If he hadn't met her on the train, their trip would still be smooth.
Jiang Ye stood in front of Yao Qiyue calmly, his face cold as he faced Lao Qian's murderous gaze.
Xu Ning caught the person and wanted to take Zhao Xiaoya and another girl out of the lounge.
The girl held Qin Qiang's arm and refused to leave. She didn't believe that her newly married husband was a liar. Although Zhao Xiaoya's words made her suspicious, she didn't want to suspect that her husband was a kidnapper in this unfamiliar place.
How could she accept this? She would rather deceive herself and stay with Qin Qiang.
She would rather believe that Zhao Xiaoya was wrongly accusing Qin Qiang.
Xu Ning was unable to persuade her, and he felt a headache as he looked at the girl with red and swollen eyes from crying, but she was just being stubborn in her opinion.
Jiang Ye felt that the rest of the matters were not something they could interfere with, so he took Yao Qiyue and Xiaobao back to their seats.
The luggage of Yao Qiyue and her family and Xu Ning's bed were well protected by the enthusiastic passengers around them. Yao Qiyue was away for half a day and not even an orange was left behind.
The rest of the journey was much smoother.
Xu Ning came to pick up the luggage and simply moved to the lounge.
The next morning, the train arrived at Beijing Railway Station.
The platform here is much larger than that in South City.
Jiang Ye led Yao Qiyue out of the station with a lot of bags, while Lu Zhian and his wife were waiting outside the station.
Seeing Jiang Ye's family of three, Lu Zhian was obviously relieved, and the expression on his face softened a lot.
"Eno."
"Yao Qiyue."
Jiang Ye heard someone calling his name, stopped to watch, and saw Lu Zhian standing in the crowd waving. He hurried over with Yao Qiyue.
"Teacher, why are you here?"
Lu Zhian patted Jiang Ye's shoulder and said, "I haven't seen you for a few days. You look much better."
"Madam, this is Jiang Ye's wife Yao Qiyue."
"This is my lover Du Yun."
Lu Zhian introduced the two sides to each other.
Yao Qiyue followed behind Jiang Ye and greeted him openly, "Hello, Master's wife."
Du Yun took Yao Qiyue's hand and said affectionately, "Good child, you must have suffered a lot on this journey. I heard you were coming a long time ago, so I rented a house for you near the school."
"Let's put our luggage back quickly. We're going to the state-owned restaurant for dinner. I've already told the waiters there, so we can eat right away."
"Is this your little baby? She's so pretty."
Lu Zhian looked at Du Yun and Yao Qiyue chattering helplessly. He reached out and took a piece of luggage from Jiang Ye.
"Let's go. My wife talks a lot. Don't mind her."
Du Yun glanced at Lu Zhian in annoyance and said, "Old Lu, Xiao Yao doesn't even mind my nagging, but you're the first to do so."
Yao Qiyue looked at the way Lu Zhian and his wife interacted and found it quite heartwarming. She smiled at Du Yun and said sweetly, "Master's wife, you've helped us a lot. I was still worried about where to stay when I got to Beijing on the train."
"We don't need to stay in a guest house here, there are so many."
"Master's wife, how much is the rent for this room? I will give it to you later."
Du Yun was a straightforward person. She knew she couldn't afford the rent herself, so she said generously, "The place I'll rent for you is close to school, and it's eight dollars a month."
"Once you get there you'll see this place is great. Eight dollars isn't too expensive."
Yao Qiyue responded with a smile: "Okay, we naturally trust the Master's wife's judgment."
The group left the train station and took a minibus, which cost 20 cents per person.
Half an hour later, they arrived at Du Yun's rented place.
This is a typical courtyard house. Yao Qiuyue was already impatient before even walking in.
The house has a south-facing door and a gatehouse on the south side, which can be used to store sundries and firewood, and also to raise cattle and horses. However, it is now empty.
There is a kitchen between the main house and the west wing.
The east wing is connected to the road leading to the backyard, which is now blocked by a red brick wall.
There was a well in the yard. The door of the main house was open, with a half-length cloth curtain hanging on it.
A thin old man with gray hair came out with a bucket. When he saw a group of people in the yard, he walked to the well without even raising his head.
Du Yun didn't care about the old man's cold attitude. He walked forward and shouted, "Uncle, this is the tenant Jiang Ye I told you about, his lover Yao Qiyue, and a little kid named Xiaobao."
"They will live in the west wing from now on. I'll give you eight dollars a month."
Du Yun turned around and said to Yao Qiyue, "This is my uncle. You can just call him Grandpa Chen. Xiaobao, call him Madam."
Xiaobao obediently called the old woman "Madam".
Chen Qingyun then glanced at Yao Qiyue and the others and said, "You can live here, but as an old man, I have to say something very frustrating. You need to keep your little one quiet and stop running around in the yard."
"I like quietness and don't like to be disturbed."
Jiang Ye nodded: "I understand, Grandpa Chen. Our Xiaobao is very well behaved. If you feel that Xiaobao is disturbing you, our family will move out immediately."
Chen Qingyun looked at Jiang Ye and said, "You sound quite nice. Okay, go do what you need to do and don't disturb me, an old man, from fetching water."
