I don't lack money

I don't lack money

Su Qinxuan drove here specially to pick up her daughter today. The two of them have important things to do today!

As soon as Jian Jianan walked out of the school gate, she saw her mother waiting for her. She ran straight to the car, opened the door and threw herself on the passenger seat.

"Mother!"

"Hey, is our Nan Nan happy at school today?"

Su Qinxuan smiled and asked her daughter while starting the car.

Jian Jianan suddenly felt that this sense of déjà vu was very similar to when she was in elementary school. Every day after school, when she saw her mother coming to pick her up, she would always ask this question with a smile.

"It's great! I'm happy every day! Mom, let me tell you, my presentation last week was first in the class again!"

"Really? Then you're really amazing!"

The mother and daughter laughed and talked about interesting things in their lives.

After a long while, Jian Jianan finally thought of something and asked her, "Mom, where are you taking me?"

Su Qinxuan smiled mysteriously: "Of course it is the future store of our Nanbei Group!"

Jian Jianan's eyes lit up, and her voice couldn't help but rise eight degrees, "What? A new store? Mom, have you already chosen a place?"

Su Qinxuan nodded: "Yes, yes, the place has been chosen!"

Upon hearing this, Jian Jianan complained to his mother, "Mom! You're such a fool! You're hiding it from me like it's someone else. You were so secretive before, and you didn't tell me anything no matter how much I asked. Now, you're just taking me there directly?"

Su Qinxuan wasn't angry either. "Isn't this a big surprise for our Nan Nan?"

Jian Jianan: "There wasn't a big surprise, but there was a shock."

The two of them chatted and laughed all the way and finally arrived at their destination.

Su Qinxuan stopped the car and Jian Jianan got out. What came into view was a large building surrounded by wooden frames and green curtains.

The second Nanbei Hotel has not been completed yet, but when Jian Jianan looked at this building that was still under construction, he could already vaguely imagine its grandeur and decorations after it was completed.

Jian Jianan turned around and gave his mother a thumbs-up. "Boss Su is amazing! You managed to pull off such a big project without making any noise. I really admire you!"

"It's not a big deal that Mr. Su is great, the real deal is that our young boss Jian Nan is great. Young boss Jian should also work hard!"

"Okay, okay, that's for sure."

Jian Jianan turned around and looked at his mother, "Mom, aren't we going in?"

Su Qinxuan raised her hand and looked at her wrist: "Don't worry, we are waiting for someone here now."

Waiting for someone, who are you waiting for?

Soon, the person they were waiting for finally arrived. Jian Jianan only heard the sound of heels tapping on the steps, and then a familiar voice sounded behind the two of them.

"Nannan! Sister Qin!"

Jian Jianan turned around in surprise, "Sister Xiaotao!"

Who else could it be but Yang Tao?

Did she come to Beijing from her base camp? It seemed like their North-South Group was really going to make a big move this time!

"Why are you here?" Jian Jianan blurted out.

Yang Tao laughed: "Of course I'm here to help you two!"

She smiled and said, "I'm not very reassured that you and Sister Qin are here alone. Of course, I have to come over to check on you two from time to time to make myself feel at ease!"

Yang Tao said this, then touched Jian Jianan's head. He hadn't seen Nan Nan for a long time and missed her very much.

The same goes for Jian Jianan. He hasn't seen his sister Xiao Tao for a long time. She didn't go back to Guangdong during the Chinese New Year. In fact, they haven't seen each other for almost half a year.

She was hanging out with Yang Tao for a long time before she remembered, "Hey, Xiao Tao, you're here, but where's Xiu Li? Why isn't she coming over?"

Yang Tao pretended to be angry: "Well, you little heartless thing, Sister Xiao Tao is right in front of you and you're still thinking about other people, right?"

Jian Jianan laughed dryly: "How could I? I just miss both of you sisters so much that I asked. I can't live without either of you two!"

"You are such a good talker, kid! If Xiaoli were here, she would definitely be coaxed into a smile by you!"

Jian Jianan is really good at using sweet talk to please others. If she is determined to coax someone, she may be able to make that person be completely bewildered and forget about anything else!

Yang Tao snorted softly, accepting Jian Jianan's answer and letting her go.

"Here, one for each of you, take it!"

Jian Jianan took it and found it was a helmet.

Yang Tao scolded the two people: "Yeah, yeah, you came to the construction site without helmets? You really have no safety awareness at all. You don't pay attention to your own safety in such a dangerous place. Don't you know that construction sites like this are the most dangerous? You can't be sure that a huge steel bar will fall from the sky while you are walking and hit you on the head. If I hadn't asked and been more careful, I wouldn't have known you didn't even have helmets!"

Jian Jianan and Su Qinxuan looked at each other. No one dared to refute Sister Xiaotao, nor did they dare to interrupt her when she was criticizing others.

The mother and daughter had to wait until Yang Tao calmed down after scolding them before they took the helmet.

Yang Tao extended two helmets to Jian Jianan and Su Qinxuan. After the three women put on their equipment, they went into the venue that was being renovated to take a look. This was exactly the reason why Su Qinxuan brought Jian Jianan here today.

"Nannan, you have to understand that most of our Nanbei Group's business income depends on hotel revenue. Therefore, the environment of a new hotel is also very important."

Su Qinxuan almost wanted to break down everything she knew and feed it to Jian Jianan's mouth. Now she wanted to teach her daughter everything in detail.

Jian Jianan nodded as he walked: "Yeah, yeah, I understand, mom. Then this area is..."

"It's the kitchen. This place is very important, it can be said to be the top priority of your work. Also, the policies of each city are different, so the kitchen facilities are also different. Some modifications must be made according to local fire regulations and food safety regulations."

Jian Jianan listened carefully to her mother's advice. Su Qinxuan also told her daughter some unspoken rules that should not be made public.

"Once you open a restaurant, there will be a mix of good and bad people. You know that before, the door is wide open and anyone can come. So, identifying people is a particularly important job..."

Su Qinxuan took Jian Jianan to look around and touch here and there, and even explained every detail of a large hotel that was still under construction to her daughter.

Jian Jianan walked for a whole morning, covering most of the areas and getting to know everything. He benefited a lot and felt very refreshed.

Su Qinxuan took Jian Jianan for a walk and taught her how to open a restaurant starting from the decoration. Yang Tao also walked beside Jian Jianan, and together with Su Qinxuan, they sandwiched Jian Jianan in the middle. The two of them were on the left and the right, like door gods, protecting Jian Jianan from the troubles of those with malicious intentions, and like guardian gods, protecting Jian Jianan firmly.

People coming and going would call out to Su Qinxuan when they saw her.

"Hey, boss!"

"Hello, hello."

"Boss, you're here!"

"Yeah, let's take a look today."

As employees of the Beijing branch came and went, many of them noticed that the boss did not come alone today, but was followed by another young girl.

Su Qinxuan introduced her to everyone, "This is my daughter. She's still in college. I brought her here to see me."

Jian Jianan was very generous. "Hello, my mother told me that the renovation and construction of the new store are all thanks to you! If it weren't for you, our new store wouldn't have been built so quickly and so well. Thank you so much!"

"Good! This kid is open-minded!"

"That's right! That's right!"

Jian Jianan smiled and continued, "Everyone, work hard. When the new store is built, I'll ask my mother to give you all a big red envelope!"

What is always more effective than empty words and clichés is actual monetary benefits. As soon as Jian Jianan said this, he was immediately cheered by everyone.

The smiles on everyone's faces became more sincere, and they praised the mother and daughter in front of them as if they were free.

The three of them didn't stay here for too long. Su Qinxuan just brought people here to save face and then sent her back to school.

The employees at the back were whispering to each other while touching their red envelopes.

"Why did the boss bring a daughter with her? Does she only have one daughter?"

"You don't know this, right? The boss has two children, a daughter and an older son. But her son isn't interested in this, so she had to let her daughter come!"

It sounded like Jian Jianan was a buy-one-get-one-free gift, and Su Qinxuan had chosen her as his heir out of necessity.

As soon as these words were spoken, some people were immediately unhappy.

A fiery voice came over: "Old Liu, what are you talking about? Women hold up half the sky. Just look at the professionalism of this kid. It must have been cultivated from childhood. So you're saying it's a last resort? Even more powerful than the big boss?"

After hearing what his colleague said, Old Liu didn't dare to refute. After all, what the colleague said made sense, so he had to keep quiet.

"Just drop it off here, I can go in by myself! Mom, hurry up and go back with Sister Xiaotao to get back to work!"

"I'm really looking forward to the grand opening of our Nanbei Hotel! It's sure to be bustling!"

Jian Jianan got out of the car, waved to the two women, and went back to school.

Yang Tao pondered her feelings for a while and said to Su Qinxuan, "Hey, I thought I could stay with Nan Nan for a while longer. We haven't seen each other for such a long time, so we must have a good chat. I didn't expect her to go back after just a few hours. I feel really bad."

Su Qinxuan glanced at her sideways and said with a smile, "Really? Looking at the way you and Nannan were just now, it doesn't seem like you haven't seen each other for a long time! Besides, Nannan has serious things to do when she goes back. She is still a student after all. We can't be so selfish as to tie her to us and make her suffer like this."

Yang Tao chuckled, "Hahaha, I understand, I understand, Sister Qin, I was just saying that!"

She leaned closer to Su Qinxuan and said jokingly, "It seems like you, as a mother, still love your daughter dearly! I just mentioned it, and you defended me before I even said a word. You really do love your daughter dearly!"

"What's the point of feeling bad? I just thought Nannan was still in college. Some things are enough to just know. There's no need to understand them in such detail. Don't you agree?"

"Yes, yes, Sister Qin is right!"

"Okay, enough talking. Let's go back. We need to fix up the North-South Hotel. Otherwise, when Chen Anguo and the others come up, people will say we are incompetent."

There were no classes this afternoon, so Jian Jianan returned to the dormitory, her body sticky. The construction site was dirty and dusty, and she just wanted to take a hot bath and have some rest.

Then I digested the knowledge I learned today. I have to say, no wonder my mother is so experienced. If I stay in her restaurant for a long time, I can really learn a lot.

Just as Jian Jianan was carrying a basket from the dormitory to the bathhouse outside, everyone saw her current appearance. The white dress she was wearing was stained black by all kinds of dust, making it dirty, with black spots here and gray spots there, making it impossible to tell what the dress originally looked like.

"Nannan!" When Jian Jianan went to the bathhouse, she happened to meet one of her roommates. Ding Ran pointed at the clothes on her and exclaimed.

"Xiao Ran!" Jian Jianan greeted her happily. What kind of fate was this? They hadn't even made an appointment to meet, so how could they meet in the bathhouse? But why was Ding Ran's expression so strange? If he saw it right, she looked at him with eyes full of heartache.

Fortunately, Ding Ran didn't say anything. She took a shower, said hello to Jian Jianan, and went back to the dormitory.

Ding Ran rushed into the dormitory and said to his roommates, "Get up, comrades, comrades, I feel like something is wrong recently. Nan Nan may have encountered some bigger difficulties. I saw her painting the walls today, working as a painter!"

What? !

Zhang Yezi didn't even want to sleep anymore and immediately sat up from the bed.

Painter? Why would Jian Jianan choose this profession? You know, painting is a very physically demanding job. If other people had a choice, they would definitely not choose this job.

Ding Ran nodded: "Yes, yes, I don't believe it either. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't have known that Nan Nan was in such a difficult situation!"

But seeing is believing. No matter how many times Jian Jianan reiterated that she had no shortage of money and insisted on sharing all the dormitory expenses with all her roommates, no one believed her at all when they saw her actual situation.

Just look at the condition of Jian Jianan's clothes today. The white dress that was so beautiful before is now covered with dirt, with black spots here and gray spots there. Even the places on her face that Jian Jianan didn't notice are covered with a layer of dust, as if she had fled from somewhere.

Now, Ding Ran no longer thinks that Jian Jianan is just a refugee!

Chen Muya was very shocked and didn't understand why Jian Jianan kept this a secret from everyone. Zhang Yezi, on the other hand, felt deeply sympathetic and thought that Jian Jianan might be unable to overcome her self-esteem and didn't want everyone to know about her difficulties, or she might not want to trouble everyone too much and make her roommates worry.

Just as the three roommates were busy discussing how to help Jian Jianan, Zhang Yezi suddenly clapped his hands, "That's right! I know how to help her!"

Since the dormitory leader had an idea, the other two had no choice but to listen to her. When Zhang Yezi told the other two about her idea, they thought it was a good idea and nodded in agreement.

Jian Jianan still didn't know about the conspiracy behind her three roommates. After taking a shower, she felt much refreshed and energetic. Now she was drying her hair in the dormitory, thinking about what she had gained today.

Su Qinxuan showed her the preparations for opening a store. These were things she had to learn and would use in the future. Jian Jianan felt that practice was the best teacher. No matter how much theoretical knowledge Su Qinxuan had told her before, it could not compare to the effect of today's field trip.

Seeing her happy and humming a little tune, Chen Muya couldn't help but feel distressed and asked her, "Why is our Nan Nan so happy? Could it be that something good happened today?"

Upon hearing this, Jian Jianan nodded without hesitation: "Yes, yes, I'm very happy, and I made a lot of money!" Without the guidance of a parent who runs a restaurant, she would definitely not understand the knowledge in this area. She has gained this huge spiritual wealth, so how can it not be said that she made a lot of money!

But when the four roommates heard this, it didn't mean the same thing at all.

Ding Ran is a local, and she knows the situation of local companies best. She thought, a painter can only earn a few dollars an hour, but Jian Jianan is satisfied with this little money. It's really... It makes people speechless!

Ding Ran rarely feels so sorry for someone. Jian Jianan studies well and seriously. Everyone sees her efforts and no one is jealous of her just because of her good grades. In addition, her family conditions are not good and she has to rely on part-time jobs on weekdays. She doesn't know how tired she must be. Her friends all want to help Jian Jianan as much as possible in their own way.

So she started to coax him, "Yes, yes, our Nan Nan is really amazing. He works hard after a day of school. He is truly a role model of the times and a model of the school! It's amazing that the University of Finance and Economics has you!"

"Yes, yes! You're right!"

"Yeah, it's amazing that you're here at Caida!"

Jian Jianan was very surprised when he heard this. Why did his roommates seem to have taken some wrong medicine and start praising themselves one after another?

She narrowed her eyes suspiciously and asked them abruptly, "Something's wrong. It's very wrong. Are you hiding something from me?"

Ding Ran's head immediately shook like a wave drum. She was very confused. "Hide it from you? Why should we hide it from you? We are all roommates. We are almost always together except for personal time. Otherwise, think about it, eating, sleeping, studying, which activity we don't do together? What else can we hide from you?"

When Jian Jianan heard this, he realized that this was indeed the case, so he gave up on tracking down and questioning his roommates and continued to organize his notebook.

Ding Ran, Chen Muya and Zhang Yezi looked at each other, their eyes filled with fear that they had finally concealed the truth, as well as relief that they had finally concealed it.

After spending some time together, everyone knows that Jian Jianan is a very opinionated person, which also means that she has a strong sense of self-esteem. If she knew about everyone's private help to her, she would definitely be very resistant. Who knows, Jian Jianan might even be very unhappy and refuse everyone's help.

Therefore, they had to be extremely cautious in helping Jian Jianan, and it was best to keep it a secret, using the principle of "moistening things silently."

Jian Jianan felt uneasy. She had felt that something was wrong with the dormitory situation for a while. In fact, she had this feeling since last semester, but it reached its peak this semester.

But looking at the roommates around him, they didn't seem like the type with bad intentions. Jian Jianan felt that this feeling was not a bad thing, so he just left it alone.

When they woke up the next day, the dormitory head, Zhang Yezi, approached Jian Nan and got straight to the point: "Nan Nan, do you know about work-study programs?"

"Work-study program?" Jian Jianan was confused for a moment. "I've heard of it. What's the matter, Head Dormitory Leader? Why did you suddenly bring this up to me?"

Zhang Yezi carefully observed the expression on Jian Jianan's face, confirming that she was genuinely confused and not feigning understanding. For some reason, she sighed from the bottom of her heart and said helplessly, "Work-study programs are a very useful method for students from financially challenged families. It's a subsidy program offered by the school for impoverished students. Students can take up relevant positions on campus and help the school in exchange for corresponding labor remuneration. This labor remuneration can often solve urgent problems, at least allowing poor students to have enough food and drink and not have to worry about living expenses."

"Oh, so that's how it is." Jian Jianan had just gotten up when her dormitory head Zhang Yezi gave her a long lecture. She looked around and found that Chen Muya and Ding Ran were no longer in the dormitory.

Hey, why is this so strange? Do they usually get up so early?

That shouldn't be the case, especially Chen Muya, who really likes to stay in bed. If she doesn't have early classes, she will lie in the dormitory alone until nine or ten o'clock before slowly getting up. Why did she go out so early this morning?

Jian Jianan was very confused. Zhang Yezi seemed to be determined not to let her go until she knew more about work-study programs. So she had no choice but to bring it up: "Head of the dorm, what do you mean by suddenly telling me all this?"

Hearing Jianan's question, Zhang Yezi thought for a moment and then simply dragged out the whole thing: "Nannan, the head of the dormitory is looking for you today for this very reason. I brought back a lot of work-study materials from the Student Affairs Office. Do you want to take a look and come with me?"

Jian Jianan finally understood that Zhang Yezi wanted to ask her if she wanted to go to work-study with her, but she was not short of living expenses, not to mention that the Nanbei Hotel was going to open a new store in the capital, so she had to stay by her mother's side to give her advice.

So Jian Jianan immediately refused, "Well, no, no, really no, dormitory head, I don't need to work-study, let's give this opportunity to someone who needs it."

Zhang Yezi was anxious. She didn't expect that Jian Jianan would still refuse even though she had made her words so clearly. "Listen to me first. Look at the information I brought back. It says that if you work as a librarian or assist teachers in organizing books and other paper materials, you only need to go five hours a week and you can earn two hundred yuan a month. If you don't like library work, you can also be a dormitory manager. I've asked around, and our girls' dormitory is short of a dormitory manager. You can work here for three hours after dinner every day, and you can earn two hundred yuan a month. Tell me, aren't these jobs good?"

It’s good, but Jian Jianan doesn’t need it now.

Jian Jianan was now at a loss for words. What kind of image did Zhang Yezi have of her in her mind? Was she just a penniless female college student who ate and drank little?

If this is true, then Jian Jianan feels that he needs to reflect on why he left such an impression on them.

Jian Jianan repeatedly refused, "This is really great. The work-study positions the school has set up for students in need are also in line with our school motto. Although it is a financial university, it also has a strong humanistic care attitude and is not all about money. It will ensure that students from needy families no longer have to go hungry. Although they may not become rich, at least they can fill their stomachs. I think this is a great thing!"

Jian Jianan's tone suddenly changed. "But I really don't need it. There's a limit on the number of work-study positions, right? They're not the kind you can just come and take whenever you want. If I sign up before then, wouldn't that squeeze out other students who really need it? That would be terrible!"

Jian Jianan repeatedly reiterated that she didn't need a part-time job and wanted to give this opportunity to someone who truly needed it. She meant it sincerely, staring at Zhang Yezi with clear, black and white eyes, as if trying to convince her. But how could Zhang Yezi believe it? With all her previous preconceptions, she just thought Jian Jianan was just trying to be brave. She wanted to go out and earn hard-earned money doing manual labor instead of giving up such an easy opportunity to make money?

Zhang Yezi was a little angry, and for the first time, her face darkened in front of Jian Jianan. "Think carefully. School has just started, and these work-study positions are available, but they only hire one person for each position. If you miss this opportunity, you'll have to wait until next semester. And even if there's another work-study opportunity next semester, the positions won't be the same as this time. So, if you still hope to find a good job like this, the chances are very slim."

Zhang Yezi used all her life's patience to analyze the pros and cons with Jian Jianan, and strongly recommended her to participate in the work-study position. Even if she was not selected in the end, it would be a good idea to take a few hours to write an application report when the position is open!

But I don't know what kind of weight Jian Jianan eats, so I shook my head and refused. No matter what I said afterwards, Jian Jianan just said "No thanks".

Zhang Ye Zi was a little annoyed by the end. She stamped her feet and said, "Okay, okay, okay, you don't want to work and study, right? I'll go by myself! You can go out and work by yourself!"

For the first time in his life, Zhang Yezi was not in a good mood when dealing with Jian Jianan. After saying these harsh words, he stomped his feet and walked away.

Jian Jianan was stunned behind the scenes and was very hesitant. He thought about taking this opportunity to talk to the dormitory head, but seeing how angry she was, Jian Jianan thought about it and felt that this might not be the right time to talk.

Forget it, forget it, forget it. She'd better do it next time. It would be better to announce it after she has figured out how to explain it clearly to everyone in the dormitory. She should think it through more carefully so that everyone can have a satisfactory result, and then she can be open and honest.

In this way, Jian Jianan's rejection of Zhang Yezi's proposal of work-study was soon known to Chen Muya and Ding Ran, and they were both very worried about Jian Jianan behind his back.

The main reason is that Jian Jianan is too stubborn. He used to work part-time outside to make a living, but now he is fine and doesn’t want to seek help from his roommates at all. Chen Muya was so anxious about this that she even had many blisters in her mouth!

"Forget it, maybe Nan Nan still has other concerns. We shouldn't advise others without first experiencing their own problems. After all, we are not the parties involved and don't know what Nan Nan is worried about. In the end, it's because we haven't known each other long enough. Once we spend more time together and get to know Jian Jianan in depth, we will know what exactly happened to her, so that we can better prescribe the right medicine."

Just like that, Zhang Yezi made the final decision. Although the proposal of the whole dormitory to help Jian Jianan was still going on, due to the special nature of the matter, it had to be put on hold for a while.

But when no one in the dormitory expected it, a wave of messages suddenly spread throughout the entire college, and there was a subtle trend of spreading to the college.

No one knew from whom or which dormitory this message was first transmitted, nor did they understand why it was so powerful and how it spread so quickly. Before anyone in dormitory 302 knew about it, this message had already completed the entire chain from the dormitory to the classroom and then to the college.

It really caught me off guard.

That's what they said.

"Hey, you know, last time I saw the top student in your class, he got out of a luxury car!"

"What? A luxury car? How nice? One of those four-wheeled sedans?"

"Yes, yes, it's that kind of four-wheeled sedan! My uncle suddenly went to the company to inquire about it last time. This kind of four-wheeled sedan costs 50,000 or 60,000 yuan, and it's not something that ordinary people can buy. You need a letter of introduction from the company. Otherwise, even if you are an ordinary person, you can't buy it without any connections!"

"Oh my god, I knew you needed a letter of introduction to buy a car, but I didn't know the top student in our class could actually afford one!"

Those who left messages were making faces at each other, their tone full of sarcasm towards Jian Jianan for getting into the car.

Every city has its share of talented individuals, let alone a place like the capital, where there are even more talented individuals. Perhaps someone quietly sweeping the floor or guarding the gate, unnoticed and unnoticed, could be the family or close friend of a prominent director. No one should be underestimated.

When Jian Jianan first came to the school, everyone looked at her in the same way. After all, her academic performance was so good and her brain was so bright. During the military training, when everyone was still figuring out how the school operated, she had already dared to get four roommates to set up a stall together in her spare time. She even wrote about this practical experience of setting up a stall in her paper and won first place in the group presentation.

Not to mention that she wasn't just good at theory, she also achieved first place in every grade exam, and consistently held the top spot in comprehensive credits. She was also very popular in the class, gentle and cheerful, with no flaws in her personality or learning ability.

Everyone originally thought that Jian Jianan grew up in a big family. Even if it wasn't a big family, at least he came from a family that had no worries about food and clothing.

Who would have thought that this speculation would be shattered within two days? What young lady would constantly work part-time jobs? And even earn the title of "Working Emperor"?

Jian Jianan goes out early and comes back late every day. After studying at school, he goes out and no one knows what he does.

She often came back late at night, and her appearance was very suspicious, often with dirt here and there, and her clothes were not presentable.

Moreover, the fact that Jian Jianan often went out to work was also verified by his roommates. Chen Muya once accidentally let it slip in front of a visitor.

"Yes, yes, our Nannan is very hardworking! And she is also very energetic. I don't know how she does it! She can attend classes at school for eight hours during the day, and not only that, she even has the energy to go out to work after class. And this child is quite sensible. After work, she didn't forget to bring us some fruit. Oh, I don't want to brag to you anymore, it's enough for you to know what a good person she is!"

In this way, the four "working emperors" were firmly welded to Jian Jianan's head.

As for Jian Jianan, she also knew that she was known as the "working emperor", but she didn't care about it and just smiled it off.

Working Emperor? That's a cute title!

Jian Jianan thought about it carefully, and then suddenly smiled. He immediately took out his mobile phone and told all his relatives and friends the name of his new title. Then he received a series of laughs from his mother who replied to the message immediately. Shan Jiqing also called back immediately when he came out of the laboratory and saw the message sent by Jian Jianan.

"Nannan?"

"What's wrong, Xiaoqing?" Jian Jianan asked Shan Jiqing puzzledly as soon as he answered the phone, "Why did you call me suddenly? Did something happen?"

"It's okay, it's okay." Shan Jiqing listened carefully to Jian Jianan's voice, and only breathed a sigh of relief when he confirmed that there was no other emotion in her voice. It seemed that there was no need to worry about Jian Jianan's current mood.

But Shan Jiqing still felt that he should ask, so he asked her softly: "Nannan, how are you feeling now? Are you feeling down?"

Jian Jianan replied: "I'm in a good mood, the same as before, and there's no sign of anything bad happening. Why are you suddenly saying that?"

Shan Jiqing then answered Jian Jianan, "I saw the message you sent me saying that you had a new nickname at school. I was worried that others might cause trouble for you, or that you were being treated unfairly at school, so I thought of calling to ask about your situation."

So that's how it is! Jian Jianan seemed to have a thousand words to say in his heart, but for a moment he didn't know how to start.

There was only half an hour left before lights-out. Jian Jianan was worried about disturbing the people in the dormitory, so he stood outside the balcony with the door closed and called Shan Jiqing.

Beijing was already hot in April, and spring was its most beautiful season. The evening breeze was no longer as harsh as in winter. Jian Jianan didn't feel cold even when he stood on the balcony in a long-sleeved shirt.

She listened to the laughter and noisy sounds of her roommates playing and fighting in the dormitory, but she and Shan Jiqingqin on the other end of the phone were silent for a while, and she couldn't help laughing.

There were very few times when she didn't know how to talk to Shan Jiqing, because she felt that she and Shan Jiqing were the two people with the best understanding. In the past, they were most accustomed to silence, and silence was also a way for them to get along with each other.

But since some time ago, Jian Jianan and Shan Jiqing suddenly could no longer remain silent.

Whenever the atmosphere between the two of them became silent, it would become very strange, but Jian Jianan didn't know what the reason for the strangeness was.

She just had an inexplicable and innate intuition that she didn't want this silent atmosphere to continue and had to say something to break the silence.

"Well...actually, there's no need for you to call me. It's just that they gave me a nickname. And I quite like it. I think everyone is just teasing me, there's no ill intention!"

Did Shan Jiqing think she was still in elementary school? A child who would cry if everyone called her "money-grubber" twice?

Jian Jianan felt that Shan Jiqing, who was on the other end of the phone, was inexplicably depressed, which immediately made Jian Jianan reflect on whether he had spoken to him too loudly just now.

You really are such a fool! Jian Jianan!

A good friend called you out of concern for you, but you were so ungrateful. It’s really wrong!

Just when Jian Jianan was racking her brains to find a topic to talk to Shan Jiqing about, she suddenly heard Shan Jiqing chuckle on the other end of the phone.

"Working Emperor? Sounds like a good fit for you."
