The truth is in the ordinary
Not every day is eventful, and ordinary time accounts for the vast majority. On this day, Jian Yangping and Su Qinxuan handed their two children over to Yu Chunlai and his wife for care, and went to find a school themselves.
Yu Chunlai and her husband liked the two sensible and obedient children, and since Su Qinxuan often came to their stall to help, they naturally agreed.
After Su Qinxuan thanked her and left, she said to her husband beside her, "I heard that Xiao Su and Xiao Jian used to be factory workers. I don't understand why they were willing to quit such a good job. If someone in our family could get a job in the factory, we would be very grateful."
Uncle Yu waved his hand and said, "Don't talk about this. Every family has its own difficulties, and so do we. We'll just take good care of the two children and let the adults do their work without worry."
Yu Chunlai thought about it and realized that this made sense. Didn’t their family set up a stall here to treat their grandson’s illness? He stopped talking about the Jian family and looked towards the direction of the train station exit, waiting for business to come.
Su Qinxuan and Jian Yangping have important things to do today, and living in a short-term rental house is not a solution. Although business here is good, there are no schools and residential areas, so it is not a long-term solution.
Now that school starts in September, which is only a few months away, they want to go to the city to look for schools suitable for their two children. It would be even better if they could rent a house nearby.
The train whistle sounded as it entered the station. People who had been sitting on the train all night were hungry, and as soon as they got out of the station, they were attracted by all kinds of aromas.
A crowd soon gathered in front of the Jian family's stall, and Jian Jianan and his brother began their busy day of work.
The food that mom made today is all ready-made, and only the two children need to pack it in bags.
Jian Jiabei methodically packed the triangular glutinous rice cakes, a famous local Hainan snack, and covered them with the lid of the Dongge Kueh Zai, a smooth and refreshing dessert. He had to use more force to cover it tightly to prevent the soup from spilling.
Jian Jianan relied on his skilled mental arithmetic to quickly collect the money handed over by the customers and accurately give back the correct change.
Su Qinxuan and Jian Yangping stood at a distance where the two children could not see them and watched for a while. Seeing that although the two children were busy all the time, nothing went wrong, they left with peace of mind.
After the morning rush hour, Jian Jianan and his brother could finally relax for a while. They wiped their sweat, picked up their unfinished cakes and continued eating breakfast.
Jian Jianan was busy for several hours and looked exhausted. He was just eating mechanically, but his mind was working fast.
She was wondering which of the snacks was the most popular today and what made them so popular. While she was thinking, she suddenly heard a noise nearby. It sounded familiar. It was her brother Jian Jiabei's.
Jian Jianan looked over and saw her brother arguing fiercely with a middle-aged man. She listened for a while before she understood what was going on.
The triangular snacks they sell today are divided into sweet and salty ones. The sweet ones are filled with shredded coconut and sugar, while the salty ones are filled with shredded bacon and chives. Although they are sweet and salty, they taste equally smooth and refreshing.
The man wanted something salty, but for some reason, Jian Jiabei accidentally gave him a sweet triangle.
The middle-aged man with a dark face had been on the train for who knows how long, and his temper was on the verge of exploding. He finally bought a breakfast, but when he took a bite, it turned out to be the taste he disliked the most.
He shoved the food in his hand in front of Jian Jiabei and yelled angrily, "What are you looking at? Is it easy for me to eat breakfast so early in the morning? I hate sweet things the most. I spent money and you gave me a taste that I hate the most?"
Jian Jiabei knew he was wrong and apologized repeatedly, but after being scolded for so long, his temper was already a bit impatient, and he became a little angry at this time.
His voice rose: "Uncle, I'm really sorry, can I get you a new one?"
The man was originally angry about the food, but when he saw that there were only two children at the stall and no adults with them, he took out his frustration for having come all the way from home on Jian Jiabei, and the more he scolded her, the more excessive it became.
Just when Jian Jiabei was about to throw the towel, Jian Jianan rushed over to stop him. She patted her brother's back to comfort him, and said to the man with a smile, "Uncle, I'm so sorry. My brother has been busy all day and is so tired that he accidentally made a mistake for you. How do you want to solve this? Can we get you a new one?"
Jian Jianan's face still had some baby fat, and she smiled sweetly. Hearing her earnest words, which were much more polite than the teenage boy's, the middle-aged man stopped pestering her and agreed to a new triangle cake. As he was about to leave, he pointed at the vat of Dongge Kueh and said, "What's this? Give me one, too."
Jian Jiabei was stopped by his sister and wanted to just say "No". He understood "give me one" as a free meal. They had already agreed on a solution, so why did she come to take advantage of him again?
Jian Jianan increased the strength of holding his brother's arm, and gently packed up the Dongge Kueh and handed it to the man. He carried two plastic bags and left contentedly without further entanglement.
Jian Jiabei was indignant and could only complain quietly: "What kind of person is this? He always wants to take advantage of others."
Jian Jianan carefully reasoned with him, "Brother, you were wrong in the first place. We're just two kids now, and it's very dangerous to go up against an adult like him. And have you noticed that when you were arguing with him, many customers who wanted to come to our stall took a detour? Instead of wasting time arguing with him, we might as well send him away quickly so we can make more money."
After hearing what his sister said, Jian Jiabei felt that it made sense. He could only secretly swear in his heart that he would never make such a simple and low-level mistake again.
The brother and sister continued to entertain customers, waiting safely until their parents returned from the city. As soon as Yu Chunlai saw Su Qinxuan, he told her what had happened that afternoon, so that she would have a better understanding. Jian Yangping, who was also listening, felt extremely nervous and wanted to give the boy a meal of bamboo shoots and pork on the spot to make him understand the dangers of life.
Judging from the expressions of my parents, it was obvious that things had not been settled yet. The two adults once again made up their minds to find a school and rent a house as soon as possible. They would go to the city in the next few days, and the household affairs would be left to the two children. They also asked Yu Chunlai and his wife to take care of them, and there shouldn't be any big problems.
After what happened today, the adults felt more at ease with them. Even though their son had a bad temper, they still had their daughter around, so Beibei still listened to her advice.

A few days later, Jian Jianan was standing in front of the stall waiting for customers as usual, when suddenly there was a commotion in front. A van parked in the open space seemed to have broken down. The owner got out of the car and was looking around for someone to repair it.
A little kid suddenly jumped out from the driver's seat, which was not locked properly. With a large piece of yellow tape on his mouth, he ran desperately in the opposite direction of the van.
Jian Jianan lowered her eyes and saw that the little boy had changed his clothes, but he was still wearing familiar little leather shoes and white socks. She raised her eyes and recognized this acquaintance at once.
It was the child brought by Uncle Shan Tao. Jian Jianan immediately forgot about the fact that his greeting on the ship was not responded to, and raised his hand to greet him enthusiastically.
Jian Jianan remembered that Shan Tao brought his son here last time and introduced his name to everyone at the end. It was Shan Jiqing. The name was quite nice and Jian Jianan remembered it as soon as he heard it. Now he remembered it as soon as he saw Shan Jiqing's face.
Besides this, Jian Jianan also remembered another thing, which was why he felt that he looked familiar before.
Jian Jianan poked his brother and whispered, "Brother! Look!"
Jian Jiabei followed his sister's movements and looked over, his face blank. "What are you doing? What do you want me to look at?"
Jian Jianan pointed at Shan Jiqing's face and said, "Brother, look at him. Doesn't he look familiar?"
Jian Jiabei shook his head: "Isn't he the little boy who came with his father from the Development Bureau when Fang Gang and his group came here before?"
Jian Jianan shook his head: "More than that, we've met before. Brother, do you remember when we first came to Shenzhen, on that ship, the person sitting in the first-class cabin was Shan Jiqing, right?"
Jian Jiabei finally remembered and suddenly realized, "It turned out to be him!"
When Shan Jiqing came here with Shan Tao before, Shan Tao kept saying this. Jian Jianan's attention was not on Shan Jiqing, so it was normal that he didn't think of it for a while.
Now only Shan Jiqing came here. Jian Jianan watched him for a long time, and suddenly a light bulb went off in his head. He recalled from his long memory the first time they met.
Jian Jiabei was puzzled: "What's going on? He came alone today?"
After Shan Tao stepped in to resolve the Fan Gang issue last time, Jian Jiabei no longer felt resentful about Shan Jiqing ignoring his sister on the boat. Instead, he was willing to say a few words.
Although Shan Jiqing treated everyone equally, he ignored everyone.
Jian Jianan shook his head, also very puzzled: "I don't know. Why is he alone today? His father is not around, and he has changed his car."
Just as the brother and sister were talking, Shan Jiqing may have noticed Jian Jianan waving and greeting him. Shan Jiqing, who had been wandering around aimlessly like a bee, suddenly changed direction and rushed towards the brother and sister as if he had found his purpose.
Jian Jianan was puzzled: "Huh? Why is he coming straight towards us? Does he have something to talk to us about?"
