Chapter 111 Dark Cuisine Variety Show 6

[What kind of culinary master?]

[What?! You're a culinary master?! No way!!! I've been grinding for a week and I didn't even notice there was a title reward!!]

[My dishes are all three-star maxed out! Of course, I triggered the Culinary Master title!]

[Aaaaaah!! I need a recipe!!! My child only gets two stars no matter what they cook!!!]

[For level 1, I recommend tree roots + barbecue, cooking time 1 hour, guaranteed 3 stars.]

【?????】

Tree roots?! Barbecue?! What are you talking about?!

[Let me answer your question upstairs. It's about the game from the variety show "Dark Cuisine"—a game similar to "Dark Cuisine."]

[Great recipe, but unfortunately I chose boiling as the cooking method at level one, so I'll have to wait until level two to add it.]

[I tried it for everyone and successfully made a three-star dish (screenshot).]

[This game has a nice art style, it has a warm and comforting feel to it. Is it difficult to pick up?]

It's not difficult; there are only two paths: go around the map to collect and process ingredients.

[Let me show you my new pot (a picture of the witch's potion cauldron), isn't it cool?]

[So cool!!! Looks great, does it have any stat boosts?]

[Yes, it can increase the success rate. I want to get an iron pot in the game, but I can't find the ingredients. Any friends out there who can trade recipes with me?]

Fang Tang saw the discussion in the variety show's comment section and became interested in the "Dark Cuisine" game, so he downloaded it that same day.

Controlling an adorable, dark little character, he searches for ingredients in the forest. To his surprise, he discovers that the game offers a high degree of freedom; while collecting, he can even collect fly wings!

Is this really a food-themed mini-game, or some kind of magic potion mini-game?!

Despite the complaints, the game is easy to pick up. Before he had explored very far, his inventory was full, and he had to go home to store the items in the warehouse.

Before long, the warehouse was full, and in order to upgrade, he had no choice but to start cooking.

Outside the cozy and comforting cartoon tree hole, a small earthenware pot sits atop a bright, warm red and yellow flame, and a tiny black figure pops out with a joyful expression.

Since it's still level one, you can only choose one ingredient and one cooking method for cooking, and then set the time. The time in the game is shorter than in reality.

The first dish was soon ready, glistening and delicious. Fang Tang was excited; it looked so appetizing. But when he got the rating, it only had one star, and he was stunned.

How can there only be half a star?

The fruit was boiled in water to make fruit tea, and it only got half a star?! Seriously? Is this game that difficult?!

Unwilling to admit defeat, Fang Tang began his cooking career in the game. He refused to believe that he could get three stars when the comments said tree root barbecue could get three stars.

However, the warehouse ran out of ingredients, and he only managed to get two two-star dishes at most.

Frustrated, he could only turn to the comments section of the variety show to ask someone for help. The netizen who always managed to produce a three-star dish had already unlocked a second title.

Fang Tang was unwilling to give up and continued collecting ingredients and grinding. Fortunately, Fang Tang's final exams were over, and he was just waiting to get his report card and homework before the official holiday.

That day, he was at home struggling with his terrible cooking when his sister suddenly showed up.

"Fang Tang, I'm going to the auto repair shop. Leave your nephew here with me for now, I'll come pick him up later."

Fang Tang casually agreed, gave his little nephew, who was in the middle class of kindergarten, a snack, and then continued playing the game.

Fang Tang's little nephew held a piece of jerky in his hand, his dark eyes fixed on the cartoon character on his uncle's phone. He stopped eating the jerky and watched eagerly as his uncle manipulated the character to collect cute rabbit tails and then put them into a ceramic pot to cook.

"No, no, my bladder is going to burst."

Fang Tang intended to take his phone to the restroom, but upon checking, he found the battery level was less than 3%, so he had to plug it in first.

Fang Tang's nephew, Da Zhuang, saw his uncle leave, so he leaned closer to the still-lit phone screen and secretly glanced back in the direction his uncle had gone, but saw no one.

Da Zhuang quietly tapped his phone screen, then looked back again; no one was there.

So he gradually grew bolder, and looking at the little black figure, he smiled as he touched the screen and saw emoticons pop up.

Dazhuang had watched his uncle's demonstration. He then manipulated the little figure to pull up a beautiful, colorful mushroom, plucked a handful of grass, and, imitating his uncle, put it into the earthenware jar. No time was set; it automatically defaulted to the previous data.

Dazhuang then clicked the "Start Cooking" button.

When Fang Tang came out of the restroom, he saw Da Zhuang pointing at his phone with his little finger, and hurriedly took a big step over.

"What are you doing, kid!"

Dazhuang blinked his big eyes, feigning innocence, as if to say that he hadn't done anything.

Fang Tang quickly checked his warehouse and backpack. Nothing was missing. Thank goodness, all of this was his hard-earned money!

But when I came out of the treehouse, why was there a time display on the earthenware pot over the fire? Was something being cooked?!

"Hey kid, what did you cook?!"

Fang Tang, still not entirely at ease, checked the warehouse and backpack again carefully. "Dazhuang, tell your uncle, what did you order just now?"

Da Zhuang pretended to be stupid and lowered his head to gnaw on the meat jerky that was already a little wet from being squeezed.

Fang Tang gritted his teeth, about to unleash his stern interrogation tactics, when the dish on his phone was ready, three stars shining on his ugly face.

He turned his head, a malicious grin on his face, his voice barely audible, "Dazhuang~ want a hamburger and a Coke?"

Dazhuang leaned back against the edge of the sofa, clutching the jerky tightly. His little uncle looked a bit scary.

[Haha, let me show you my three-Michelin-starred food!!! Come and worship me!!!]

Fang Tang finally got his revenge, having managed to create his first three-star recipe. Although it was Da Zhuang who made it, he's his nephew, so whatever Da Zhuang makes is what he makes—they're family.

Dazhuang was nestled in his uncle's arms, sipping his cola and occasionally letting out a soft hum.

"This? Is this considered food? Okay, take it, there's still room in my backpack."

As Fang Tang manipulated the little figure to explore and collect ingredients, he would speak in a high-pitched voice, knowing that Da Zhuang needed to be gathered from his whimpers.

He had long noticed that the game had a high degree of freedom, but he didn't expect it to be this high. He could collect the soil on the ground, as well as mushrooms that looked poisonous, and even the front teeth that rabbits dropped.

Dazhuang whimpered even louder when he saw the little rabbit's teeth, almost reaching out to pick them up himself.

When Fang's cousin came to pick up Dazhuang that evening, Fang and Dazhuang were reluctant to part.

Fang Tang's sister looked at the two of them hugging tightly, looking like uncle and nephew with deep affection, and felt like she was the villain who was trying to break them up.

Fang Tang's parents also happened to be home, so Da Zhuang was able to stay with his uncle as he wished.

Fang Tang finally got his wish and acquired a gaming partner. Unfortunately, his gaming partner automatically shut down and went to sleep after nine o'clock, leaving Fang Tang alone to face the disastrous game.
