Chapter 28 Island Survival 6

After a short while, Zhang Nan suddenly spoke up, "We don't need to search this building anymore. We might go to the clinical trial center building first."

"How about we search this building first? Maybe we'll find some clues. After all, we've already searched one floor." The different teams had intentionally avoided each other, choosing different buildings. Xu Ge had a feeling that if they went to other buildings now, the data might have already been obtained by someone else, and by the time they came back, all the data in this building would be gone.

Zhang Nan threw the documents in her hand onto the table and spread her hands. "These are all useless. Only one medical record looks interesting, but this person was later transferred to the clinical trial center, so the subsequent medical record information is lost."

Brother Xu was somewhat incredulous; out of so many cabinets, only one medical record was actually useful.

Seeing that Brother Xu was hesitant, Zhang Nan decisively stood up and said, "Wang Quan, let's go."

Wang Quan, who was in a daze, was stunned. "Huh?" Although he didn't know what was wrong, he got up first.

Brother Xu was surprised that the two left so decisively, and hurriedly called them back.

"Give me some time to think about it. I have to be responsible for the rest of my team. At the very least, I need to make sure everyone has seen the information."

Zhang Nan didn't stop for long; she was almost out of the office.

Wang Quan, unaware of the situation, urged, "Yes, let's stay with everyone." He hadn't even had a chance to inspire the others; how could he just leave like that? Wouldn't it be a waste that he went through all that trouble to join the team?

"Staying in the outpatient department will only be a waste of time. There are so many buildings here, there must be some useless smokescreens used to confuse people."

After Zhang Nan finished speaking, she continued walking outside.

Wang Quan watched Zhang Nan leave the group and walk away, then looked at the large group of people around him, and he was as anxious as an ant on a hot pan. If he stayed, without Zhang Nan, Brother Xu might not accept him; if he went with Zhang Nan, there were so many people who could be infected, and he was reluctant to give up what could have been enough for him to do for many hours to come.

While Wang Quan hesitated, Brother Xu hurriedly ran out of the office and grabbed Zhang Nan.

Xu Ge was surprised that Zhang Nan would decide to leave the team so abruptly. The two of them had only been in the team for less than half an hour, and Zhang Nan had even provided them with a crucial clue before joining.

Xu Ge couldn't quite understand Zhang Nan's actions, but as things stood, Zhang Nan clearly had a clever mind. Unless absolutely necessary, he didn't want to choose between so many people and a clever mind; after all, if you can have them all, why choose just one?

“We can discuss this further, don’t rush off.”

Zhang Nan paused for a moment, then waved her hand. "Don't worry, we can exchange clues when we meet again. Wang Quan, what are you still standing there for? Let's go."

Wang Quan gritted his teeth and walked toward Zhang Nan with resentment rising in his heart, yet he still had to endure the envious glances of other people who were unaware of the truth.

The few members of Xu Ge's team who initially pleaded for Zhang Nan suddenly stepped forward and asked, "Zhang Nan, can we go with you?"

Zhang Nan shook his head. "No, women will only slow down my sword-drawing speed!"

It wasn't until Wang Quan and Zhang Nan walked out of the outpatient building that Brother Xu came to his senses, and the turmoil in his heart calmed down a bit. Just now, when no one else could see, Zhang Nan whispered, "Black puppy."

At first, Xu Ge didn't understand. Wasn't the issue about not leaving the team? What did this have to do with the black puppy? But then a thought suddenly flashed through his empty mind.

Among the five suspects in his group was a boy wearing a black hoodie with a small dog pattern on it. He remembered it vividly because he had been keeping an eye on those five people.

So, Zhang Nan means that out of these five people, only the boy in the black hoodie with the puppy pattern is the imposter?! How did Zhang Nan determine that?

No matter how much Xu thought back, he couldn't figure out what special operation Zhang Nan had done, how Zhang Nan had discovered it, or even whether Zhang Nan's result was accurate, even though he already believed it to be 80%.

Wang Quan reluctantly followed behind Zhang Nan, complaining, "Didn't you say it would be safer to stay with the group? And that we could find clues faster? I really don't know what you were thinking. Brother Xu has already accepted us, but you still insisted on going out on your own."

"They have fakes in their team, it's not safe."

Wang Quan was momentarily stunned, but quickly regained his senses, muttering, "How is this possible?"

Zhang Nan looked at Wang Quan with an innocent smile and said, "Don't you think there's something wrong with that person?"

Wang Quan looked at Zhang Nan, who clearly appeared innocent, but couldn't help feeling a tightness in his throat. "Who?"

"Brother Xu."

Wang Quan breathed a sigh of relief after hearing this. He thought Zhang Nan had discovered him and was setting a trap for him, but it turned out Zhang Nan was just suspicious of Brother Xu. Someone like Brother Xu was definitely not a fake. He didn't know what Zhang Nan was thinking. Zhang Nan was quite intelligent, but lacked emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills. It seemed that God opened a window for him, but closed a door. Suspecting Brother Xu was truly laughable.

Wang Quan inwardly scoffed, but outwardly feigned nervousness, "No way?! Brother Xu actually has a problem?!"

A hint of a smile flashed in Zhang Nan's lowered eyes. He nodded firmly and analyzed seriously, "Look, the clues are so obvious, right in the corridor. Anyone would have noticed them. But look at how many people Brother Xu has, yet they're all searching inside the house. This is clearly a deliberate attempt to hide the clues!"

Wang Quan felt as if an arrow had struck his knee, but he didn't even notice. It's so annoying how these quick-witted people talk without any boundaries!

"Besides, as I said, there are no leads in the outpatient clinic, but Brother Xu still insists on continuing to search for evidence there. Isn't that obvious enough?"
