Lin Xiaoxiao suddenly became curious, "Isn't it inappropriate for you to tell me these things? Lin Tianyang is your own brother."
Lin Tianxue's expression remained unchanged as she added ingredients to the hot pot, saying, "From the very beginning, when I saw you, President Lin, I knew you would be the ultimate winner."
Before Lin Xiaoxiao could say anything, Lin Tianxue continued, "Just kidding, I'm not that powerful. This is all to flatter you, Mr. Lin, so you can earn more money and get a bigger bonus at the end of the year."
Lin Xiaoxiao clearly didn't believe her. Lin Tianxue rested her chin on her hand and began to ponder, staring at Lin Xiaoxiao without flinching. "Actually, I admire people more than others. I didn't pay much attention to you before, but after hearing that you left the family group and are doing well, I really wanted to get to know you better."
My brother does have a different stance from you, but that doesn't stop me from admiring you. You know my situation; I don't have much of an impression of my mother growing up, but because of family matters, I had to share in the bitterness and resentment. From childhood to adulthood, I've always felt like I'm carrying a heavy burden, and at times, I even felt somewhat disconnected.
It's as if those experiences weren't my own; all I ever needed to do was help my brother ascend to the position of head of the Lin Group. While I was in the hospital, I really wanted to talk to someone, and you came to mind. Lin Xiaoxiao, I'm so glad you finally reached that position.
The last thing Lin Tianxue didn't say was, "Because of you, I am free." She no longer needed to follow her brother to the very end in hatred and grief, no longer needed to bear the burden for anyone, and no longer needed to suppress herself and be someone else's appendage. She could finally have a new life of her own.
Lin Xiaoxiao hadn't expected that everyone would like to talk to her about these things. She wasn't used to other people's open and honest conversations; she was just used to bearing everything alone. But when it really came to this, meeting Lin Tianxue's gaze didn't seem as awkward as she had imagined.
Lin Xiaoxiao woke up the next day to return to the recording crew. Looking at the messages from Lin Tianxue on her phone at five or six o'clock, she sighed, "This guy is really quick. He stepped down one day and bought a plane ticket to go abroad the next day."
Thinking about Lin Tianxue's incoherent ramblings last night, Lin Xiaoxiao felt a headache coming on. She knew all the gossip that the Lin family should and shouldn't know.
She hasn't even taken office yet, but just like last time, she's checking the accounts first.
She wouldn't hand over the accounts if they weren't clear, not to mention she already had a plan in mind.
Shen Jie felt that the space in this room was like a sponge; you could always squeeze some out. It was like cramming a thousand people into two large courtyards. She heard that the production team was already applying for a world record.
She was utterly amazed that such a small house could still fit a refrigerator, wardrobe, and desk even after being crammed full of people.
Compared to these contestants, her family still didn't work hard enough.
Tang Wei and Shen Jie worked part-time to save up funds. Everyone avoided staying in the compound unless absolutely necessary, but some contestants would wander between the two compounds every day.
As the days went by, it didn't seem so unbearable. It was just that every day there would be a farce caused by the lottery. Of the smaller houses in the compound, only one room was still standing.
All the other rooms have been eliminated, and the people sleeping in the courtyard of the neighboring compound have had their expenses deducted after being reported.
This incident changed the atmosphere in the neighboring compound. At first, it was full of laughter and unity, but after the person in that house was reported, the whole compound became suspicious and tried to find the traitor.
Once, Shen Jie and Tang Wei were washing clothes and chatting by the pool when someone suddenly appeared behind them, startling them. They turned out to be someone from the neighboring compound, who seemed to want to get closer and eavesdrop on their conversation.
The two felt that the contestant was too strange, so they quickly finished washing up and left.
That same day, I heard that another household in the neighboring compound had been reported for secretly storing things in a hidden corner of the yard.
It caused quite a commotion. When the production team confiscated the items in the corner, no one in the neighboring courtyard admitted that the items belonged to anyone. It was chaotic and noisy, and people even started accusing each other. Then, somehow the topic turned to the whistleblower, and another big argument ensued.
Shen Jie and Tang Wei also went to join in the fun. They couldn't squeeze through the main gate at all, so they had to use something as a stepping stone to reach the wall and listen.
Because the two of them were a bit short, Shen Jie was lifting Tang Wei up from below. "How are we? Where were we?"
"Sigh, nobody recognized it, the production team took the items away."
As soon as Shen Jie heard it was over, she put Tang Wei down, saying, "I'm exhausted."
"This neighborhood used to be so harmonious, but after this whistleblower incident, everyone in the courtyard is in a state of panic. Who exactly is that guy?"
Tang Wei ate sunflower seeds while complaining, while Shen Jie stretched her muscles and grimaced.
"Who knows? Maybe they're not even from their compound."
Tang Wei covered her mouth in surprise, "Ah?! Could it be someone from our compound?!"
Shen Jie quickly looked around, "My goodness, please keep your voice down, don't let anyone hear. I'm just guessing, don't take it seriously."
Tang Wei, however, seemed to have suddenly sorted out her logic and leaned closer to whisper, "Where there's smoke, there's fire. Have you heard some gossip?!"
Shen Jie frowned, a hint of seriousness on her face. "No, I just think this is too suspicious. Besides, that person has been sleeping in the yard for several days now. People in the neighboring yard were also doing the same thing at night. Logically speaking, if the production team doesn't take the initiative to arrest them, they should be covering for each other."
Tang Wei nodded in agreement, her face showing the same seriousness, "That makes sense!"
Tang Wei had just finished agreeing and seriously considering this direction when Shen Jie suddenly exploded, "Makes sense my ass! I was just talking nonsense. Besides, this is just a show, don't get emotionally involved or take it too seriously."
Shen Jie paused at the end, then turned to see the hurt deep in Tang Wei's eyes. "I didn't... mean that."
Shen Jie's voice grew lower and lower until, in the end, she didn't even know what she was explaining. She didn't need to explain anything to the contestants she knew on the show, right?
[Tetris turned into Werewolf, how interesting! Hehe, when it gets dark, please close your eyes; werewolves, please open your eyes and choose the person you want to report today.]
This show really tests human nature even more than "Man vs. Wild." At least in that show, the contestants knew there were fake survivors. This show is different; werewolves suddenly appear out of nowhere in the crowd, and it's not even clear how many werewolves there are. It's so exciting!
