The TV station was in its peak hours when people were leaving get off work, with many coming and going. He Guinian looked around and then looked at Ye Zhizhou with displeasure.
"Let's talk somewhere else."
A coffee shop near the TV station has a slightly bourgeois decor, and many people choose to have coffee there after get off work.
He Guinian deliberately chose a relatively secluded spot, in the very corner of the coffee shop. After sitting down, he seemed much more relaxed.
“Your mother was a few years ahead of me in school; she worked as a counselor at our school.”
He Guinian seemed to have lowered his guard, and his attitude towards Ye Zhizhou was not as tough as before.
Ye Zhizhou pursed his lips slightly, "How long have you spent with my mother?"
He Guinian looked at her with a complicated expression, frowning as he said, "Since you don't hate your father, shouldn't you be questioning me?"
He definitely acted on emotion on stage today, asking questions that went far beyond what a host should ask, but he couldn't help it.
He had kept his feelings for Dong Xinqi to himself for over twenty years. If he hadn't seen the similar appearance of Ye Zhizhou and Dong Xinqi, he would never have revealed his true feelings.
Ye Zhizhou and Dong Xinqi are seven or eight parts similar. Most importantly, the temperament between her brows is just like Dong Xinqi's back then, gentle yet with a hint of stubbornness.
However, after talking with Ye Zhizhou, he realized that Ye Zhizhou and Dong Xinqi had different personalities. Ye Zhizhou was more assertive and would not allow anyone to infringe on her rights.
He, however, was met with a rebuff.
Especially when he saw how good Ye Zhizhou and Ye Qian's relationship was, he felt even more superfluous.
Even though he had liked Dong Xinqi for so many years, he never mustered the courage to speak his mind before she passed away.
Rather than saying he hated Ye Huaibin, it would be more accurate to say he hated his own cowardice.
“Questioning you won’t solve the problem. I just want to know how deep your feelings for my mother really were, Teacher He. On behalf of my mother, I thank you for your love for her, but she has passed away. You shouldn’t dwell on her anymore. You should find your own happiness.”
As a supporting female character who was once obsessed with the male lead, Ye Zhizhou deeply understands He Guinian's mentality. In the end, all feelings are selfish.
She didn't want He Guinian to never get out of this situation.
He Guinian was stunned for a moment. "If I remember correctly, you're only eighteen years old this year?"
Ye Zhizhou nodded. He had already mentioned this on the show, so why repeat it again?
"You're right, perhaps some things really aren't worth dwelling on for too long."
He Guinian felt ashamed. He was not even as good as an eighteen-year-old girl. He was stuck in the past every day. On the surface, he lived a bright and beautiful life, but in reality, he had become moldy and rotten inside.
It's time to let go.
"Sir, your coffee."
The waiter brought over the coffee, and the barista had created a beautiful latte art in the exquisite navy blue cup.
He Guinian picked up his coffee cup and took a small sip. He usually only liked Americano coffee, but today he ordered a mocha. The sweeter taste than usual quickly filled his mouth, and he felt very relaxed.
"Teacher He, I'm relieved that you've come to your understanding. I won't tell anyone about this; it'll remain a little secret between us."
Ye Zhizhou also took a sip of vanilla coffee and gave him a playful smile.
