Chapter 178 Hibernation

"What nonsense are you spouting? When did I ever order my people to die? I was just asking why you didn't obey Lord Hiruzen's orders!"

Sarutobi Madara's hurtful words made Sarutobi Sora somewhat flustered. There were many clansmen around, and his words made him seem like a villain who was forcing his clansmen to their deaths.

Sarutobi Sora could sense the suspicion and hatred in the eyes of the clansmen around him. He could only turn to look at Sarutobi Hiruzen, hoping that Lord Hiruzen could help him clear things up.

"When a mission is launched, the person in charge on-site has to consider many things, not only ensuring the completion of the mission, but also the lives of the tribespeople!"

Madara Sarutobi grabbed Sora Sarutobi and continued to fight, saying, "You might not understand because you're following behind Hiruzen-sama and not on the front lines, but as the leader, I have to think more about things."

"We can't just send our clansmen to their deaths because of a single word from Lord Hiruzen!"

A faint, cold smile appeared on Sarutobi Madara's face. He deliberately emphasized the words "Lord Hiruzen" when he mentioned them, and the sarcasm in his words was self-evident.

The former Hiruzen Sarutobi was incredibly powerful, with countless followers, and was the Hokage of Konoha. Naturally, I could only address him with utmost respect, calling him "Lord." Now, this old man's entire family is wiped out, his followers are few, he has lost his Hokage position, and even his strength has greatly declined.

Now that he has almost lost the trust of his own clan, Sarutobi Madara feels that he has nothing to fear from Sarutobi Hiruzen.

"Ban, your words have gone a bit too far!"

I never intended to send my people to their deaths; on the contrary, last night's mission was to avenge them.

As a cunning old fox who had been fighting for the Hokage position for many years, Hiruzen Sarutobi was not so easily tricked, and he immediately took over the conversation.

"As people of the same blood, we are all one family. I always keep the hatred of my family in mind, but of course, the lives of my people are the most important. Ban, your judgment last night was excellent; it was worth it for me to assign you to lead the team."

Even now, Hiruzen Sarutobi still tried to claim credit for arranging Madara Sarutobi's death, attempting to preserve his last shred of dignity.

But as he watched more and more of his clansmen gather behind Sarutobi Madara, those eyes that were once full of reverence were now filled with suspicion and even hatred, and Sarutobi Hiruzen found it difficult to continue speaking.

At this moment, there were only a handful of people behind him, a stark contrast to the large group behind Sarutobi Madara. This stark disparity in numbers clearly demonstrated the clansmen's attitude; further discussion was pointless.

"Thank you for your hard work last night. Although we were unable to track down the enemy and avenge our people, at least no battle took place."

I hope you will continue to work hard so that we can build a better family together.

Hiruzen Sarutobi forced a smile, said a few words, and tried his best to maintain the last shred of dignity before turning and leaving. In that instant, the smile on Hiruzen's face froze for a moment, then he forced a smile back and walked home.

Although he managed to put on a smiling face again, Hiruzen Sarutobi's increasingly loose old teeth were almost worn out from chewing them along the way.

"Lord Hiruzen, wait for me!"

"Sarutobi Madara, your evil scheme will not succeed! My eyes will be fixed on you!"

Upon seeing Hiruzen Sarutobi leave, Sora Sarutobi was momentarily stunned, then quickly chased after him, shouting loudly. Without Hiruzen-sama to keep him in check, he was genuinely afraid that the group of cold-eyed clansmen opposite him would tear him apart.

"Alright, Kong, you can go home now."

Hiruzen Sarutobi returned home in silence, his thoughts clearing somewhat. He once again displayed his kind and benevolent expression, smiling as he reassured Sora Sarutobi, "Don't worry, it's just a small problem, I can handle it."

You should go back and rest and train now. Don't forget to improve your skills.

I've felt your concern for me today. It's rare to see someone so youthful and passionate; you'll have many responsibilities to shoulder in the future."

"Lord Hiruzen, you flatter me. I am still very young and need your guidance."

Sarutobi Sora listened to Hiruzen's words with a look of deep gratitude, repeatedly expressing his loyalty and appearing to always follow in Hiruzen's footsteps.

"Alright, alright, there's plenty of time in the future. You should go back now."

Hiruzen Sarutobi forced himself to send Sora Sarutobi away, then turned and pushed open the courtyard gate, entering the empty courtyard. As soon as he entered the newly built courtyard, Hiruzen Sarutobi felt an indescribable emptiness and chill.

Although this courtyard is adorned with greenery and features a harmonious blend of mountains and water, making it a pleasant place, it lacks the most important component of a home: family!

It's unclear whether the clansmen who rebuilt the clan's territory did so out of respect or mockery. Even though Hiruzen Sarutobi's branch was now down to just him, the mansion they rebuilt was still quite large, enough for dozens of people to live together.

After his children and grandchildren all died, he moved into this new mansion without any servants and lived alone in the huge mansion.

Hiruzen Sarutobi stayed alone in this new mansion, and every time he did, he could only feel endless loneliness. His son and grandson were all gone!

Hiruzen Sarutobi sat alone in the courtyard for a long time, then suddenly his face contorted with rage as he uttered, word by word, "Uchiha Clan!"

After some thought, Hiruzen Sarutobi had made up his mind that he had to use some special methods to regain his power. Even his own clansmen's attitude towards him had changed drastically after he lost his power; before, they would respectfully call him Hokage-sama!

"Sarutobi Madara, Uchiha clan, just you wait! This is only a temporary hibernation; I will make you regret this!"
