Chapter 15 Ding Jiaojiao

Passing by the beverage section, Zuo Ling realized she had forgotten something important: in the apocalypse, water was scarce, so she needed to stock up on a large amount of water in advance.

I wanted to order some water towers online, but after searching, they were too expensive. Oh well, I'll think about it when I get back.

Bottled mineral water needs to be purchased, and dairy products are also essential.

Beer, soft drinks, iced tea, soda, and various fruit juices are just extras; order less of those.

100,000 yuan was transferred to someone else's account in the blink of an eye, with bottled water making up the majority, dairy products second, and other items accounting for 10%.

Continuous purchasing has left my brain oxygen-deprived, and my head is buzzing again.

I decisively left the Xinfadi market, went back to the warehouse to wait for the goods to be received, and searched online for water storage tools.

Before they even reached the warehouse, Ding Jiaojiao called again, but Zuo Ling hung up immediately, infuriating Ding Jiaojiao.

"What do you think she meant? She hung up on me before I could even finish speaking."

The man stared silently at the television screen.

Ding Jiaojiao was unhappy and went up to shake him:

"Brother, she's not answering my calls, what should we do? Should we try to find out where she is and then just go and confront her?"

Ding Jiaojiao went to Zuo Ling's house to block the door, but she didn't see a trace of him for two days.

A hint of impatience flickered across the man's expressionless face, but his tone remained steady and calm:

"You're asking for help for something so trivial? Aren't you ashamed? Go ahead."

Ding Jiaojiao angrily pushed the man away: "She won't answer my calls, what are you going to do?"

"They immediately claim to be someone's sister. If it were me, I wouldn't believe them either. That's how scammers start. It's normal not to answer."

Ding Jiaojiao pouted: "We should at least hear the whole story."

"Listen to how you lie to her. She's 28. Do you think she's a 3-year-old?"

Ding Jiaojiao kicked her legs wildly in a fit of anger: "Then what do we do?"

Send her a text message and explain the whole story.

The man suppressed his impatience and gave Ding Jiaojiao some advice.

Ding Jiaojiao's eyes lit up. It was so simple, how come she hadn't thought of that?

She tugged at the man's arm and said, "Brother is the smartest."

Ding Jiaojiao, who was looking down at her phone and texting, didn't see the man's disdainful and disgusted gaze.

Upon receiving the text message, Zuo Ling sneered.

The message stated that her biological parents separated due to a misunderstanding, and her father was unaware of her existence before the separation. He eventually learned that he had a daughter, but then lost contact with her again.

After extensive investigation and verification, it was finally confirmed that Zuo Ling was his daughter.

In her past life, Ding Jiaojiao had told her the same thing, but she hadn't told her her biological mother's name.

They were hiding it, as if her own mother couldn't be seen in the light of day.

Two minutes later, the phone rang again, but Zuo Ling hung up again.

Ding Jiaojiao was so angry that she smashed her phone.

"Damn it! He hung up on me again. I've already made myself perfectly clear."

A hint of schadenfreude flashed across the man's face, but he coaxed:

"Such a big thing needs to be processed for a couple of days. Maybe she really has something to do. Let's wait and see."

"She still won't answer?"

"No, everyone has curiosity. Unless..."

The man hesitated, as if he wanted to say something but then stopped.

"Unless what?"

Ding Jiaojiao pressed for more information.

Looking into Ding Jiaojiao's eyes, the man said, word by word:

"Unless, she senses that you have ill intentions towards her."

Ding Jiaojiao's pupils contracted slightly, and she remained silent for a few breaths before bursting into laughter:

"What are you saying? She's Dad's own flesh and blood. How could we possibly have ill intentions towards her? Besides, she doesn't even know we exist. How could she possibly think of such things?"

The man's gaze was unsettling, making Ding Jiaojiao feel uneasy.

After a moment, the man looked away and focused his attention back on the television screen.

Ding Jiaojiao breathed a sigh of relief, her eyes filled with wariness as she glanced at the man.
