Chapter 155 Wanting to Live

A month later, more than 30,000 jin of sweet potatoes were harvested, causing a sensation throughout Kyoto.

With a bitter expression, Researcher Tang was invited by numerous organizations to provide on-site guidance.

Researcher Tang was so worried that she couldn't sleep for nights on end, and her hair was almost falling out. She really had nothing to tell them, but no one believed her!

Unable to think of any other solution, one day, in front of a high-ranking leader, he rolled his eyes back and fell backward... When he opened his eyes again, he was left with a crooked mouth and eyes, and he was paralyzed on one side.

Professor Jin embraced his wife, weeping bitterly.

"Oh dear, my dear, what's wrong? Are you tired? I told you long ago that age catches up with you, and you shouldn't push yourself too hard, but you wouldn't listen. See, see, I was right..."

The big boss looked grim. Why did he have to get sick of all times? He's going to end up being accused of making a hero sick.

Upon hearing this, Zuo Ling guessed the reason and felt guilty. She wanted a stable living environment and wanted to help the residents of the community, but she never expected to cause such a big mess for Researcher Tang.

She was so focused on the small things that she forgot the bigger picture. She couldn't possibly travel all over the capital to water the sweet potato and potato seedlings with her spatial water. She was caught in a dilemma, unable to back down.

Two days later, after much deliberation, Zuo Ling withdrew from the planting group.

She can take care of the residents of the community, but she can't take care of everyone. Her behavior is unusual, and sooner or later she will be targeted.

The existence of space itself is illogical; it was her oversight that she brought something that exists in the virtual world into real life.

Feeling guilty, Zuo Ling didn't dare to look at Researcher Tang.

Upon hearing this, Researcher Tang, who was hiding at home pretending to be sick, sighed. The hope he had hoped for turned out to be nothing more than trying to catch the moon's reflection in the water.

The couple suspected that the secret Zuo Ling was hiding must be extraordinary. Considering that Zuo Ling had saved their lives, the old couple kept quiet and never mentioned it to anyone.

The residents of the community were completely unaware of this.

After deducting the portions given to the military and the municipal government, there were still over 18,000 jin of sweet potatoes and potatoes left, which was the same as the last harvest.

After deducting the amount saved for seed, each household can exchange contribution points with the community. Although the amount is not large, it has given everyone hope of survival.

The North District couldn't sit still any longer and sent representatives to negotiate with the South District.

Bai Hongwei, Lin Wang, Li Mingli, and He Guizi sat on one side, scrutinizing the three people opposite them from head to toe.

In the middle, he was tall, stocky, and capable, with a scar running from the corner of his eye to his forehead.

The one on the left has a big head, squinty eyes, and a bulging, powerful aura.

The one on the right is thin and has gleaming eyes; he's fiddling with a folding knife.

After the community was divided in two, Bai Hongwei and his group seemed to have forgotten about the North District, allowing it to become chaotic.

I heard that a few skilled fighters came to the North District and, with their formidable strength, suppressed several small groups, causing chaos.

The North District is not exactly peaceful now, but it is no longer in a state of disorder.

Bai Hongwei raised an eyebrow; he could smell the scent of soldiers on the men.

The man in the middle spoke up: "My name is Guo Qi, a veteran. These two are my brothers, Chen Hao and Di Sheng."

Bai Hongwei remained silent, while the other three acted according to Bai Hongwei's signals.

Guo Qi was very good at reading people's expressions. He quickly locked his gaze on Bai Hongwei and said, "We want to live."

Bai Hongwei remained silent.

Chen Hao has a fiery temper and was about to explode when Guo Qi stopped her.

"We need sweet potato and potato seeds, and we also need someone to guide us in planting them."

Bai Hongwei glared at him: "What's in it for us if we help you?"

Guo Qimo paused for a moment, then said, "Isn't it a benefit that the North District is stable and the South District is stable?"

Bai Hongwei was amused. He straightened up, stared into Guo Qi's eyes, and said coldly, "Are you threatening me?"

Guo Qi shook his head: "I was just expressing our determination to survive."

The atmosphere tensed up instantly.

After a long while, Bai Hongwei sat back down and said lazily, "Okay, I promise you."

Thank you.

Guo and his two companions took their leave, departing with neither arrogance nor servility.

Lin Wang chuckled: "He's someone important."

Li Mingli nodded: "Anyone who can bring order to the chaos in the North District is certainly a remarkable person."

He Guizi, who came from a merchant family, said with dissatisfaction that it was not in line with his usual style to not provide any profit. "Giving it to them like this is too easy for them."

The three of them looked at Bai Hongwei at the same time.

Watching the departing figure, Bai Hongwei slowly said:

"He's right. Stability in the North District leads to stability in the South District. A little seed and a technician bring stability to both the North and South Districts—it's worth it!"

Besides daily training and occasionally setting up a stall at the market, Zuo Ling devoted all her energy to growing vegetables.

She put the planting books that Fatty had downloaded to good use, and by referring to the contents of the books, Zuo Ling's planting skills improved significantly.

The land was no longer barren; many vegetables that had never been planted before were now grown there, and all sorts of planting pots were placed in every corner of the room.

In addition to supervising Zuo Ling and Xiao Hao's training, Pei Nansheng had another task: training Xue Ye.

When Xueye was just over a month old, Pei Nansheng began training it with the same seriousness as when he trained Xiao Hao.

Xiao Hao also found enjoyment outside of training... cooking.

Zuo Ling asked him why he liked cooking.

Xiao Hao tilted his head and answered matter-of-factly, "Three meals a day, eating is very important."

Heaven knows if that's what he really thinks. Zuo Ling guessed that it might be related to the fact that he lacked food and clothing when he was young. Food could make him feel at ease. It could also be that Xiao Hao lacked a sense of security, only eating and not doing anything, for fear of arousing the dislike of his older brothers and sisters.

The sight of a 7-year-old child wearing an apron, circling around the stove, is both adorable and heartbreaking.
