Chapter 22 Trial Grounds

Zuo Ling wanted to buy honeycomb briquettes, not lump coal.

I used to burn lump coal back in my hometown. Although it was cheaper than processed honeycomb briquettes, burning lump coal was too dirty.

Loading coal, removing ash... covered in dust and dirt.

Having enough money, Zuo Ling didn't want to mistreat herself.

She used to burn honeycomb briquettes, and if she used them sparingly, six briquettes a day would be just enough.

Those with serious adulteration will be used in larger quantities.

Zuo Ling chose a more expensive state-owned coal mine and bought 100 tons of honeycomb briquettes and 10,000 pieces of ignition coal.

One ton costs 2,000 yuan, about 800 yuan, 6 yuan a day, 2,190 yuan a year, nearly 3 tons.

Extreme cold is followed by extreme heat, so there's no need to burn coal for heating every day; Zuo Ling bought enough coal to last for more than thirty years.

Who knows what will happen next? Perhaps there will be fuels that can replace coal by then.

While I was at the small shop near the coal yard, I bought five old-fashioned iron coal stoves, along with matching stove pipes, fire tongs, stove hooks, and other items.

There was a new type of coal stove, but she didn't want it.

Zuo Ling liked the solid feel of old-fashioned coal stoves, while the new ones were cramped and looked like they could be blown over by the wind.

He put the coal stove into Tank 500 and, taking advantage of the moment when no one was looking, stored it in his spatial storage.

The delivery trucks that deliver honeycomb briquettes are almost never large vehicles; they are either small vans or small motorcycles.

Fortunately, it wasn't winter, so there weren't many people needing coal, and they managed to gather enough coal to deliver the goods to Zuo Ling.

Zuo Ling led the way, and deeply experienced what it meant to be a grand and imposing force.

Coal trucks don't need to be specially marked; passersby will know what they're doing.

Everyone needs coal, yet everyone dislikes it.

Zuo Ling got a good look at him the whole way, as he covered his head and face.

Before even reaching the warehouse entrance, I could see a man and a woman peeking out from outside.

Seeing a large group of people approaching, they stepped aside.

The woman was someone Zuo Ling knew; she had come by a few days ago.

Knowing why they had come, Zuo Ling ignored them and told the workers to unload the truck.

The couple pretended to watch the workers unloading the truck, but their eyes kept glancing into the warehouse.

"What are you two looking at?"

His eyes darted away, and the man forced an awkward smile.

"Buying coal? I've seen you buying a lot these past few days."

"Yes, is there something you need?" Zuo Ling asked coldly.

The woman, disregarding everything else, blurted out, "Have you seen my Dachengzi?"

The man said he had a big job tonight, but he didn't come home all night.

She knew what kind of person her husband was; he had done plenty of petty theft and other underhanded things over the years.

New tenants have arrived at the village warehouse, and trucks are coming in one after another, making everyone envious.

The man wasn't talking about this "big job," she spat and drowned herself.

"Da Chengzi? What does he look like? When did he come here?"

Without thinking, the woman casually replied, "Last night, tall and big."

Zuo Ling's face turned cold:

"Last night? This is a warehouse, what do you take it for? You came here looking for a man?"

"he……"

The woman was about to say something more when the man stopped her, pulling her back as he walked.

"Sister, I'm so sorry, we've come to the wrong place, we've come to the wrong place."

He could see clearly that coal delivery workers were coming and going, and the person they were looking for couldn't possibly be hiding here.

After Zuo Ling awakened the space, his hearing gradually improved.

The woman asked anxiously, "Da Chengzi didn't come here, where could he have gone?"

The man was very impatient: "You're asking me? Who should I ask? Ask your own man."

The woman was on the verge of tears:

“He never failed to come home. His second and third sons are not here either. A person cannot simply disappear for no reason.”

The man said irritably:

"You mean that woman hid your Dachengzi, your second son, and your third son? You don't even know what kind of person your Dachengzi is. Why would she hide him?"

"What if...what if..."

The woman hesitated, then, as if remembering something, her eyes widened in fear: "They...they, will something have happened to them?"

The man scoffed, "He's always stealing chickens and dogs; it was bound to happen sooner or later."

"..."

The sound faded into the distance, and Zuo Ling could no longer hear it.

The person is in her space; there are no surveillance cameras within 10 miles, and all traces have been cleaned up.

You have doubts, what can you do to me?

He gave a cold laugh at their retreating figures and went about his business.
