Having narrowly escaped annihilation twice, many people clasped their hands together in gratitude to Heaven for its mercy.
Xiao Hao sneered:
"God is too busy to bother with ungrateful bastards like you. The blue whale and the turtle came because of my sister. She saved them, and they've come to repay her kindness. Humph, even animals are more grateful than you! A bunch of ingrates, I spit on you!"
Guo Qi, who had just returned to the deck, frowned. Had someone been cursing Zuo Ling while he was away?
Most people don't believe what Xiao Hao says. Turtles are one thing, but blue whales are the apex predators of the sea. Oh, you think you can just save them like that? Ha, what a self-aggrandizing move!
Someone muttered under their breath, "Everything is your sister's doing. Why doesn't your sister just fly to the moon?"
He spoke softly, thinking that Xiao Hao couldn't hear him.
Xiao Hao, being a child at heart, couldn't stand others speaking ill of his sister. He immediately pulled out his phone and shouted:
“I have photos of them being treated. Believe it or not, who needs you to believe me? You bunch of ingrates. Saving a dog is better than saving you.”
Xiao Hao hated those who insulted his sister. He ignored them until the danger was over, but now that the danger was over, he was determined to get revenge.
Eight years into the apocalypse, very few people carry cell phones, and even if they do, there's nowhere to charge them.
Ning Qiang took the phone. It wasn't that he didn't believe it; he was just curious.
Xiao Hao takes photos simply because he thinks it's fun and wants to leave himself some interesting memories.
I never imagined that one day I would use it as evidence.
As I flipped through the pages, I saw images of blue whales and old turtles.
Few of the photos show the blue whale in its entirety, as the camera couldn't capture its massive body. However, this does demonstrate that Zuo Ling's family was indeed very close to the blue whale.
The photo of the injured old turtle is the clearest.
Zuo Ling is intently treating the wound on the old turtle's neck. In one picture, Zuo Ling and Pei Nansheng are standing on the old turtle's back treating the wound, while Xiao Hao twists his neck and makes a peace sign.
The Ning family members, the three Guo brothers, and Yang Chengang leaned over to watch as well.
The sky was blue, the sea was vast, and Zuo Ling's family was playing with a blue whale on the sea, their smiles were radiant. If you didn't see it with your own eyes, it would be hard to believe that you could still see such bright smiles after the apocalypse.
Ning Qiang wasn't paying attention to the blue whale or the sea turtle, but rather to the mode of transportation Zuo Ling's family was using—was it a yacht, or...?
The fact that the photo is only partially taken suggests that the photographer's focus was different from Ning Qiang's.
Pei Nansheng snatched the phone away, and Xiao Hao realized at the same time that the phone contained a lot of things that couldn't be shown to others.
Afraid of upsetting her brother, she shrank her shoulders and timidly glanced at her sister.
Zuo Ling stared blankly at the calm sea, still reeling from the disappearance of Big Head and the old turtle.
Ning Qiang stroked his chin. Whether it was a yacht or a speedboat, where was the boat?
When the villagers and outsiders of Tangren Village saw that Ning Qiang and the others did not say anything after looking at the photos, they knew that Xiao Hao must not be lying, but they could not bring themselves to say thank you or apologize to Zuo Ling.
For a moment, there was complete silence.
Xiao Hao rolled his eyes and snorted coldly, glaring angrily at the few who had been cursing the loudest. "I'll remember you!"
Chen Hao suddenly exclaimed, "My God, what is that?"
An endless expanse of writhing creatures blocked the cargo ship's path.
Ning Qiang's pupils contracted sharply. His transformation was that of a hawk, and he was born with an extreme sensitivity to animals such as snakes.
He could see it clearly; it was a sea serpent!
A quick glance reveals at least a dozen species of sea snakes, almost all of which are venomous.
Among them is the blue-ringed sea snake, which is said to be even more venomous than a cobra.
Xiao Hao shuddered in fright and peeked out from behind his brother. Although he had taken many lives, he was still terrified when he saw so many snakes.
"Brother, where did all these snakes come from?"
Pei Nansheng said calmly, "The disaster not only destroyed our homes, but also theirs."
Volcanic eruptions and frequent crustal activity destroyed the sea snakes' habitat, so this spectacular sight is not surprising.
Zuo Ling's mind was pulled back by the sea snakes. Despite possessing supernatural abilities that are difficult for ordinary people to achieve, she is still very afraid of snakes, insects, rats and ants.
But now, she just watches coldly and indifferently.
The cargo ship rushed into the swarm of snakes. At first, the people on board were not afraid. What would a behemoth weighing hundreds of thousands of tons be afraid of a few small sea snakes?
The sea snakes, seemingly unaware of who they were attacking, fearlessly coiled around the ship, climbing higher and higher along the hull.
The first sea snake appeared on the ship's railing, eliciting gasps of surprise, followed by more snakes crawling up.
Some snakes are segmented, like large stick insects; some have fish-scale-like patterns; some are pure black, while others have yellow markings...
Different kinds of snakes intertwined together, a sight that gave one goosebumps.
The sea snakes that can climb onto the cargo ship are all young and strong, about 2 meters long, with thick tails that look quite frightening.
Sticky, cold, nauseating, and terrifying, permeated the entire deck.
"Oh no, a snake! A snake! It's crawling up here! Oh my god, oh my god, what do I do...!"
"Get down, get down, ah, go away, go away..."
Almost everyone instinctively rushed towards Zuo Ling's family.
It is the common practice of the weak to associate with the strong.
They completely forgot that many of them had just been cursing Zuo Ling as a monster, saying she had ill intentions, and that she deserved to die. Apart from Lin Sao and a few others, no one spoke up for Zuo Ling.
When faced with danger, the first person he thought of was Zuo Ling.
Zuo Ling pulled Lin Sao over and said to Xiao Hao, "Pay attention to the direction of the driver's seat."
The implication was that it was none of her business whether others died or not, but she had to ensure that the people in the driver's seat did not die.
Xiao Hao nodded vigorously: "I know."
