The little wolf followed Zuo Ling's family onto the speedboat. It was only a little over two months old. Wolves are not afraid of water, but they are not good swimmers.
Having just lost its loved ones and now having to leave its home, the little wolf is filled with fear of the vast ocean, dread of the future, and uncertainty about where Zuo Ling is taking it. Worried and terrified, it almost loses its footing.
Zuo Ling simply sent the three little ones into her spatial dimension.
Suddenly entering an unfamiliar environment, the little wolf was startled, but was quickly attracted by the superior environment of the space and let out a surprised howl.
The dog barked smugly in the snowy night, "Isn't it beautiful? This place is great! Come on, let me show you around."
The waterfall looked at the two naive fools who had never seen the world with disdain, curled its lip in disgust, and turned to find the goose to take it boating on the lake.
After observing for a while and seeing that the little wolf was adapting well, Zuo Ling stopped paying attention to it.
After switching to the submarine, Zuo Ling lost her spirits and hid in her room, leaving everything outside to her two brothers.
Knowing that his younger sister had not yet recovered from the loss of Ah San, Pei Nansheng resigned himself to taking up the mantle of piloting the submarine.
They traveled for seven or eight days in a row, and the weather remained calm.
By the ninth day, they had encountered eight or nine boats, as well as a medium-sized yacht, all of which were returning home in response to the call of their motherland.
Large things always give people a strong sense of security. Seeing a large cargo ship weighing hundreds of thousands of tons makes the people on those ships extremely envious.
Two of the boats were dilapidated and on the verge of sinking. They couldn't hold on any longer and begged the cargo ship to take them in.
After some discussion, Guo Qi agreed to let them board the ship.
As soon as I boarded the ship, I was stunned by what I saw on both ships. My God, what did I see?
Dozens of uniformly sized planting boxes were filled with potatoes, sweet potatoes, scallions, rapeseed, water spinach, romaine lettuce, and more...
The lush greenery was a refreshing sight. With everything else withered, no one could remember how long it had been since they had seen green, and tears welled up in their eyes.
In the past two years, the climate has been much better than at the beginning of the apocalypse, but unfortunately, people don't have seeds, so they can't grow vegetables or grains.
Looking at Guo Qi and the others' mental state and physical fitness, they are far superior to them.
The island was relatively well-supplied with supplies, and with the addition of supplies on the cargo ship, Guo Qiyi and his group had been living quite comfortably for the past six months. They had even gained back the weight they had gained and looked exceptionally healthy.
Envy, jealousy, longing, greed—they drooled with envy, their stomachs rumbled, and some shameless individuals even reached out to pick vegetables and put them in their mouths.
Click-click-click-click... A series of sounds as the bolt was pulled back filled the air with a chilling, menacing atmosphere.
The dark muzzles of guns and the wary, warning eyes were all telling the new passengers not to act rashly and to be careful of accidental discharge!
On the deck, hundreds of guns were neatly arranged, startling the new passengers.
Everyone who's survived this long has seen a gun, almost everyone has fired one, and many of the new passengers have guns too.
Being pointed at by so many guns all at once is quite a visual shock.
The cargo ship was quite large, with many levels, and at each level and intersection, there were quite a few armed men.
Judging from his posture, stance, and even his overall demeanor, he seems to have received military training.
The new passengers were bewildered. Had they encountered a national army or pirates?
Having created the right atmosphere, Guo Qi spoke calmly:
"I advise you all to keep your hands to yourselves. Don't reach for things that don't belong to you. Someone will take you to your lodgings in a bit. Don't wander around unless necessary. Chen Hao, take them away."
The new passengers were stunned, and most of them obediently followed the group.
In the crowd, a woman in her early fifties walked a few steps with her head down, then suddenly grabbed the boy next to her and rushed out of the crowd, kneeling down in front of Guo Qi with a thud.
With a wide grin, she said in a tearful voice:
"Comrade... I beg you, have pity on this old woman. My grandson and I have been starving for days. My child has hardly eaten any vegetables since he was born. Please, have pity on us."
As soon as she moved, a man and a woman darted out, and what they had in common was that each of them had a child of about ten years old with them.
"Comrade, please, have pity on us! Our child is starving and has no flesh left on his body. Please, for the sake of us being Chinese, give him something to eat."
"Yes, please have pity on us. Just give the child something to eat. We don't care whether we eat it or not."
With allies in hand, the woman who had spoken first became even more enthusiastic:
“You are a kind person. Since you have taken us in, please go all the way and give us some food. You can’t just watch us starve to death.”
"Yes, comrade, we all come from the same source. You have such abundant resources, so giving us some is nothing to you, but for us, it's a matter of life and death."
"..."
Many who hadn't spoken were also moved.
In their minds, anyone who could operate a large cargo ship and had so many guns must be a government agency.
China has a long-standing tradition of compassion for the poor and weak. Now that we're all from the same origin, why aren't we even given a share of food?
Why not take advantage of a free lunch? What's a face worth anyway? A shameless person is invincible.
Guo Qi experienced firsthand the frustration of "If I have it, I have to share it with you," and sneered:
"We promised to take you back to your country, but we didn't promise anything else. You have two options: one, disembark; two, follow our people to where you're meant to be."
The woman spoke loudly:
"You...which unit are you from? You disregard human life, aren't you afraid of breaking discipline?"
Guo Qi glanced at her sideways:
“I’m not from any military unit. Ma’am, do you think human life is valuable these days? If you keep arguing, I don’t mind throwing you and your grandson down first.”
