Chapter 300 Chief Mei Invites Guests

The orderly warned, "Don't wander around here. Keep an eye on them, or something bad will happen."

Pei Nansheng stopped the two little ones.

The two little ones were unhappy and went up to Zuo Ling, one barking and the other whimpering.

"Be good, or no one can protect you if you cause trouble here."

Zuo Ling threatened the two little ones.

The two little ones, still seemingly unafraid, tentatively tried to run onto the plane.

The soldier coldly pulled back the bolt, aimed, and the two little ones immediately cowered.

On the contrary, Ah Si, who was obediently following Zuo Ling's leg, saw someone bullying its little friend and its fighting genes showed, howling and trying to charge forward.

The orderly who brought them up was so nervous he was sweating profusely. What if he accidentally killed the beloved pet of Commander Mei's guest?

Fortunately, someone led them up quickly. The orderly wiped his sweat, thank goodness, thank goodness, nothing bad happened.

The entire airplane was converted into Chief Mei's office.

It has everything: offices, dining area, reception room, lounge, waiting area, guard room, kitchen, restrooms, and warehouse.

The family of six filled the small but exquisite living room to the brim.

Chief Mei walked in looking exhausted: "You're here."

"Greetings, Commander."

Chief Mei gestured for them to sit down and then spoke.

"Is your accommodation all arranged? If there's anything I can help you with, just let me know, and I'll do my best to help."

"Everything is fine, thank you for your concern, sir."

"That's good, that's good."

After glancing at his watch, Chief Mei continued:

"It's almost noon, and I haven't eaten yet. Why don't you eat with me?"

"No need, no need, we came after we finished eating."

In times of decline, inviting guests to a meal is the same principle as giving away gold in times of prosperity; Zuo Ling and her brother should not be disturbed.

Chief Mei smiled and said, "What, you won't even have a meal with me?"

Since that's been said, the three siblings naturally went along with the host's arrangements.

The food was served one by one, with exquisite plates and fine utensils. Even the orderly who served the food had extremely refined manners.

Knowing that Zuo Ling and her siblings treated the three children like family, they also placed a set of plates in front of each of the three children.

Fortunately, it was a banquet hosted by the military commander, and the family of six was full of anticipation for the delicious food they were about to enjoy.

The waterfall stretched out its claws, trying to peel off the clasp.

The host hadn't even started yet, so how could the guest make a move first? Zuo Ling quickly stopped it.

"Come on, come on, get to work, don't be shy."

Chief Mei removed the buttons from his body one by one.

Zuo Ling and her brother followed suit, uncovering the plate, their eyes narrowing.

Waterfall was impatient and couldn't wait for Zuo Ling to help it. With a snap, it pushed the tray aside.

The dog knelt on the chair, its paws resting on the edge of the table, its tongue lolling out in frustration.

Ah Si is the most well-behaved, with an arrogant demeanor and disdainful attitude. If Zuo Ling doesn't lift the lid off its basin, it won't even budge.

Each person has five items in front of them: a portion of boiled insects about the length of a finger, a portion of brown, dry clods of earth, a portion of a palm-sized pancake that is not clearly made of any kind of meat, and two black cornbreads the size of a baby's fist.

The most normal serving is a small bowl of soup about the size of a teacup... with two scallion rings floating on top of the hot water.

"Eat, eat, don't be shy."

Chief Mei ate a mouthful of black cornbread, a mouthful of boiled insects, and occasionally a meat pie, enjoying it immensely.

The insect was about the thickness of a chopstick, and you could see the bluish-black stuff inside. Pei Nansheng was okay, but Zuo Ling and Xiao Hao felt acid reflux and were so nauseous they almost vomited.

The waterfall sniffed closer, smacked its lips a few times in disgust, jumped into Zuo Ling's arms, and whined for food.

The dog uses the waterfall as a weathervane; it's not interested in anything the waterfall rejects. It jumps off the chair, runs to Zuo Ling, and tries to please her by acting cute, waiting to be fed.

"Eat, of course we'll eat. Are you worried there won't be enough? Don't worry, don't worry. I'm treating today, so the kitchen will have to give me, Mei, some face. If it's not enough, we'll have them bring more."

Chief Mei was all smiles, but to Zuo Ling and her brother, it felt like a chilling wind was blowing.
