Chapter 318 The Unpredictability of Life

Everyone was stunned by the horrific scene on the warship.

Dry human skin, bluish-black corpses, comrades crying and screaming, delirious and showing various symptoms, and an elite team of 150 people, of whom fewer than 30 are still standing!

Many people cried, their eyes reddening.

"How...how could this happen?"

What exactly happened inside?

"Where's the battalion commander? I haven't seen him. Could he be here too...?"

No one answered.

The battalion commander was killed when the first wave of blood-sucking vines attacked.

The poison in Bai Hongwei's body had not been completely removed, and his head was throbbing with pain. The aftermath was left to the deputy battalion commander who remained behind.

Cremation should be carried out where necessary, and cleaning should be done where required.

When collecting the remains, the soldiers wept uncontrollably.

Some can be roughly identified, but most are only distinguished by hair and teeth, making it impossible to tell who is who.

There are only about 200 people left in the White Headscarf group, and a small portion of them have developed mental health issues of varying degrees.

Before everyone could react, Zuo Ling went to the place where the wild animals were piled up.

The poison vines attacked indiscriminately, and even the dead wild animals were not spared. Many of them were no longer edible, so Zuo Ling picked them out one by one and sent them into her spatial dimension.

As she was picking them up, her ankle suddenly tightened, startling Zuo Ling so much that she almost screamed.

"Who...who are you?"

Zuo Ling looked over and saw Lin Wang!

Lin Wang hid himself under the wild animals, his whole body covered in dirt.

How could he...?

He held up a finger and waved it in front of Lin Wang's eyes.

Lin Wang listened intently, "Who? Who are you?"

"Lin Wang, your eyes... you can't see?"

Lin Wang's eyes were lifeless, and his gaze was clearly unfocused.

"Sister Zuo... Sister Zuo, Sister Zuo, hehe, wuwu, hehe, wuwu."

Lin Wang was both crying and laughing.

When the poisonous vines attacked, he was terrified and hid everywhere, running around until he reached a pile of wild animals and hid himself under the carcasses.

He fainted for some reason, and when he woke up, he found that he could not see. He was terrified.

The battle was fierce, and everyone was in low spirits. No one spoke; it was quiet.

He had just woken up and, not knowing whether the battle was over or not, and hearing no noise, assumed the entire army had been wiped out. He was terrified and dared not call for help.

Finally hearing footsteps, I tried to grab them, and what I caught was Zuo Ling.

In her busyness, Zuo Ling forgot about this guy. Lin Wang is here, but where is Li Mingli?

Looking around, a human foot was visible in a corner of Wild Mountain. Pulling it out, it turned out to be Li Mingli.

As expected of a good friend, even their hiding places are quite well concealed.

"Sister Zuo... I can't see anymore, what am I going to do..."

Lin Wang cried with snot and tears streaming down his face.

Thankfully you're still alive. Li Mingli's breathing is weak; it's uncertain whether he'll recover.

"I'll get you some water to wash it; maybe washing it will make it better."

"Ah, then, then go quickly."

In his desperation, Lin Wang tried anything, even believing the nonsense that washing with water would cure him.

Zuo Ling pretended to walk around for a while and then came back. She gave Lin Wang a bowl of water to wash his eyes and fed Li Mingli another bowl.

After drinking a bowl of water, Li Mingli showed no signs of waking up; he must have injured his head.

Taking advantage of the fact that no one was paying attention, she held up Li Mingli's head and circulated her supernatural power around his brain. His eyelashes trembled slightly, and after a while, he still did not wake up.

Left with no other option, Zuo Ling went to see Lin Wang again.

Lin Wang washed himself very carefully; the water from the well in the space was cool and refreshing, making it a very comfortable experience.

"How are you feeling? Any better?"

I closed my eyes and rested for a while. When I opened them, I saw a blurry shadow.

"Sister Zuo, it really works! I can see a little bit of the shadow now."

Her spatial water was still somewhat useful, and Zuo Ling was happy for him.

"Then wash it again, maybe it will be fine in a little while."

"Uh-huh."

Even without Zuo Ling saying anything, Lin Wang was already cleaning up.

The result was not satisfactory; the scene before us remained shrouded in mist.

Zuo Ling comforted him, "You may have damaged a nerve. You'll need some time to recover. Don't worry, take it slow."

Lin Wang was disappointed, but had no other choice, and asked:

"Has the poison ivy retreated? What about Bai Hongwei, and Li Mingli?"

You only remembered to ask after you rolled your eyes.

"Li Mingli is at your feet, Bai Hongwei is fine, the fog has cleared, we're out of there."

Lin Wang was overjoyed: "We won? That's great!"

Lin Wang had never seen such terrifying vines before, and just thinking about it made his hair stand on end.

He reached out to touch Li Mingli, calling out, "Li Mingli, Li Mingli."

Li Mingli was barely breathing and remained motionless.

"What's wrong with him? Sister Zuo, please help me save him."

Lin Wang panicked.

Li Mingli was his childhood friend. He was blind, and Li Mingli was also like that.

Bai Hongwei said it was nothing, but if it were nothing, he wouldn't have gone so long without coming to see them.

"Sigh, I've already done the first thing," Zuo Ling sighed. "I'll go get the army doctor to come and take a look."

Before Lin Wang could reply, Zuo Ling turned and left.

The military doctors were too busy to come, and even if they did, it wouldn't help.

Find a rescue soldier and tell him where Lin Wang and Li Mingli are, then Zuo Ling will leave it at that.

She's done all she could; there's nothing more she can do.

The soldiers carried Lin Wang and Li Mingli away, and after a while, many people came to collect the wild animals.

After a long and tiring day, everyone was hungry.

Originally, receiving so much meat should have been a cause for celebration, but no one was happy about it.

The atmosphere was somber; everyone was working in silence, and no one spoke unless absolutely necessary.

Zuo Ling went up to help, and reminded everyone that any poisonous wild animals must be removed.
