Chapter 331 A False Alarm

As darkness fell, the group arrived at a large cave, where people were already waiting at the entrance.

Ding Tiancheng came forward, his tone reproachful: "It should have been delivered yesterday, why is it a day late?"

Dai Jianzhong glanced back and said with a forced smile, "Brother Cheng, we'll talk about it later."

Ding Tiancheng had received many bribes from Dai Jianzhong, so he didn't want to embarrass him in front of so many people. He waved his hand, signaling his men to take the man away, while he and Dai Jianzhong went to a corner to talk.

"Brother Cheng, some people are causing trouble at the food factory. I'm afraid if we hire any more people in the future..."

Dai Jianzhong looked embarrassed.

"What?" Ding Tiancheng raised an eyebrow at him.

Dai Jianzhong said in a low voice:

"Brother Cheng, give me a heads-up, are those guys not coming back?"

Ding Tiancheng's face darkened, and he was about to reprimand Dai Jianzhong when Dai Jianzhong quickly said:

“It’s not that I’m being nosy, it’s just that someone noticed something was wrong and started causing trouble at the factory. Rumors are circulating that this is bad for us, and I’m about to lose control. This batch was only managed to be gathered after a lot of trouble.”

Shrugging at Ding Tiancheng's expression, he tentatively asked:

"If... any of them are still alive, let them go back and show their faces, then I'll send them back to you?"

Ding Tiancheng put his arm around Dai Jianzhong's shoulder and walked a little further away.

"To be honest, I don't know how they are doing either. Apart from the elders, no one knows what's going on inside. But..."

Ding Tiancheng hesitated, as if he wanted to say something but then stopped.

"Brother Cheng, speak your mind. There's nothing we brothers can't trust. Don't worry, once I hear it, I'll keep it to myself."

"I'm not worried about anything... Huh?"

Ding Tiancheng seemed to see a familiar face, so he quickly walked to the middle of the group and put his hand on Pei Nansheng's shoulder.

I turned my head and saw a stranger's face.

"You... need something?"

Ding Tiancheng was very disappointed. He felt that Pei Nansheng's back looked like someone he knew.

He waved his hand irritably: "It's nothing, I mistook you for someone else."

Dai Jianzhong leaned over and asked, "Brother Cheng, what's wrong?"

"What's that person's name?"

Ding Tiancheng pointed at Pei Nansheng, who looked exactly like the person he knew.

"this……"

The registration done by his subordinates included a beggar, which Dai Jianzhong didn't pay any attention to. "Does Brother Cheng know him?"

Ding Tiancheng chuckled. That person was a superhuman, and the Ding family had suffered greatly at his hands. How could he possibly walk into a trap? He was overthinking it.

"I don't know you, you've mistaken me for someone else."

Preoccupied with what had just been discussed, Dai Jianzhong didn't ask any further questions.

If he had said one more word, such as that the three siblings had come together, the shrewd Ding Tiancheng would have immediately connected it to Pei Nansheng and his sister.

What a pity...

"Brother Cheng, about what I was saying earlier..."

"Oh, I don't know the specifics, but I reckon he's definitely not coming back."

Dai Jianzhong's heart was pounding; he felt as if he had discovered an incredible secret.

"Why...why do you say that?"

Ding Tiancheng gave a strange smile: "They went in and never asked us to bring them food. Think about it?"

Go in? Go where?

Dai Jianzhong felt a chill run down his neck and didn't dare ask any more questions.

Ding Tiancheng was a member of a collateral branch of the Ding family. Pei Nansheng had dealt with him a few times and thought he had been recognized, which startled Pei Nansheng.

The reclusive elders are unpredictable, and now they are directly confronting the Ding family on Ding's territory. They may not come out on top.

Zuo Ling gave Ding Tiancheng a deep look, wondering how he could tell that something was wrong with his brother.

The group traveled through the cave, the path winding and sometimes going up and down.

The cave was cold and damp, with few lights and a slippery surface, making everyone feel extremely uncomfortable as they walked through it.

Thinking of the rumors circulating, many people considered backing out.

One of them timidly asked the guide, "Young man, where are you taking us?"

The man glanced at him and said, "You'll find out when you get there."

"I, I..."

The five words, "I don't want to go," were stuck in my throat; I just couldn't get them out.

I'll go back and find allies, see if there are any who don't want to go, so I can go back and have company.

Having seen this many times before, the guide forced a smile and said, "It's not far, we'll be there soon."

After walking for another 10 minutes or so, a giant cave appeared before us.

"Wow, it's so beautiful." Everyone sighed softly.

Colorful lights illuminate the stalactites of various shapes inside the cave, creating a dazzling and romantic scene.

Zuo Ling secretly praised, "So beautiful!"

The most eye-catching feature is a stone waterfall more than ten meters wide, with water as thin as hair flowing down as if it were real, creating a scene of unparalleled beauty.

The leader thought to himself, "Look, look! If you don't look now, you'll miss your chance."

Perhaps moved by pity for the dying, he patiently waited until everyone had finished their tour, then pointed to one side of the cave entrance and said:

"There are people waiting for you up ahead, let's go in."

"Aren't you... going in?"

“My task is to bring you here; what’s ahead is not my responsibility.”

The green beam of light shone on the guide's face, his smile sending chills down the spine.

Many people with keen sixth senses felt uneasy, with one voice telling them not to go, while another voice said, "Go, go, don't scare yourself."

The cave entrance ahead looked like a monster that could devour people. Everyone hid behind me and behind him, each wanting the other to go in first.

Zuo Ling, holding her brothers' hands, stepped forward proudly.

There really are people who aren't afraid of death!

The guide bent down, not as if he were seeing someone off, but as if he were mourning.

As soon as I stepped in, the world spun around me, and all I could hear was the sound of the wind.

It seemed both very short and very long. Thump, thump, thump, the three of them fell to the ground in a sorry state.
