Judging by his age, Zuo Ling would believe he was 80.
The old man's eyes flashed with disgust as he looked at Zuo Ling. He hid it very well, but Zuo Ling still noticed it.
Ning Qiang, being quite perceptive, withdrew.
What is she doing here?
Zuo Ling seemed to be asking someone unrelated.
The old man's disgust deepened, and he lowered his eyelids. Perhaps due to emotional turmoil, he coughed quite violently, unable to control himself no matter what he did.
The instruments beeped, and two doctors and several nurses rushed in. One of them, annoyed that Zuo Ling was blocking the way, rudely pushed her aside.
The nurse she had just met apologetically helped Zuo Ling up.
Ning Qiang rushed in, looked around, and said in a harsh tone, "What did you say? You've made my uncle so angry."
Zuo Ling rolled her eyes at him. "I asked her how she got here, and that's how it happened."
Ning Qiang looked incredulous.
Believe it or not.
Zuo Ling crossed her arms and coldly watched the group of medical staff bustling around.
The old man finally managed to stop coughing, and weakly waved his hand, signaling everyone to leave.
A doctor said:
"Mr. Ning, you can't get too excited right now. Please put everything else aside for later."
As he spoke, he glanced in Zuo Ling's direction with a very unfriendly look in his eyes.
"It's alright, go out."
Unable to reason with the old man, the doctor walked arrogantly up to Zuo Ling, raising his chin and saying:
"I don't care who you are, but Old Master Ning's body can't withstand any stress. You'd better be careful. If something happens, you won't be able to handle the consequences."
Zuo Ling sneered and completely ignored him.
"I didn't want to come here, you invited me. Don't think you can control me just because she's here."
After saying that, he turned and left.
"Cough, cough, cough cough, stop...stop her, quick, quick."
The elderly man was coughing violently, as if he was coughing up his heart, liver, spleen, and lungs.
Ning Qiang grabbed Zuo Ling, "Don't go, don't go. I apologize on his behalf. He's a doctor, and he only cares about his patients. Don't take it to heart."
Zuo Ling snorted and continued walking out.
"Stop, stop him... cough cough cough..."
The coughing behind me grew louder.
The nurse exclaimed in alarm, "Oh dear, he's vomiting blood again!"
"Zuo Ling, please, my uncle doesn't have many days left to live. If it weren't for... do you know how old my uncle is? He did it for you... please!"
Ning Qiang's words were pleading.
Zuo Ling closed her eyes and finally stopped.
The doctor knew he had offended someone he shouldn't have, but he refused to admit his mistake and left with a flushed face.
Only Zuo Ling and the old man remained in the room... no, there was also a living dead.
Zuo Ling's face was grim as she looked down at her toes.
The old man took a while to catch his breath, raised his hand, and then put it down again.
"Your personality is very much like your mother's, unlike your good-for-nothing father."
Zuo Ling turned her head, wanting to curse her good-for-nothing father, she thought, "Go ahead and curse me, I promise I won't talk back."
"I've never understood why you were hostile to the Ding family from the very beginning. You didn't even know anything about the Ding family back then, so where did your hostility come from?"
The old man struggled to suppress his cough, his breathing labored.
Zuo Ling did not answer.
The old man, completely unconcerned, continued:
"Pei Nansheng is an elite scion cultivated by the Ding family. The Ding family didn't treat him well, but they weren't bad either. How did you persuade him to betray the Ding family with you?"
Zuo Ling stubbornly refused to answer.
The old man seemed to recall something, and a hint of a smile flashed in his eyes.
"I helped you before."
Zuo Ling looked at the old man and finally brought up a topic that interested her.
The old man didn't keep anyone in suspense:
“When you came to Stone City to gamble on stones, the Ding family came to investigate your whereabouts, and I erased it.”
Zuo Ling's eyes darkened. The old man had known about her back then. Her gaze shifted to the woman on the bed. Because of her? Could it be...?
"Yes, I know everything you've done since you were a child."
The old man paused for a moment, then added:
"To be precise, I know everything you did before the apocalypse."
Zuo Ling's hair stood on end.
