Chapter 34 Mission Accomplished

I got into the car, set the alarm, and adjusted the seat to a semi-reclined position, planning to rest for an hour before moving on.

Less than fifteen minutes later, someone knocked on the courtyard gate.

Zuo Lingzhen didn't want to move, but she had no choice. Suppressing her impatience, she forced herself to get up and open the door.

Outside the door, the village chief's wife, carrying a food basket, saw that Zuo Ling's eyes were bloodshot and explained apologetically:

"Girl, I'm sorry to disturb your rest. This is some oil-splashed noodles my family made. Dongzi's wife is in postpartum confinement, so I asked them for a bowl of chicken soup. Eat it while it's hot, and then go to sleep."

"Thank you, Auntie. I'm sorry to have troubled you."

Steaming hot noodles, steaming hot soup, and steaming hot sentiments—even the coldest heart will be melted a little.

After putting down her food basket, the village chief's wife waved as she walked back.

"No trouble at all, no trouble at all. Don't be so polite with your aunt. Eat quickly, eat quickly, and rest after you finish. I'll come to collect the dishes tomorrow. Go back now, go back now."

The old lady walked briskly, afraid that if she was too slow, Zuo Ling would refuse her.

Pick up the food basket, close the door, and lock it.

The aroma alone makes me hungry.

I found a relatively clean side room, took out a lantern from my spatial storage, wiped the table and chairs clean, and sat down to eat comfortably.

After a sip of chicken soup, the aroma almost brought tears to my eyes.

It smells so good! I haven't had such delicious chicken soup in years.

No oil was added to the chicken soup; the bright yellow oil is from the chicken itself.

When was the last time I had such fragrant chicken soup? I can't remember, it must have been my grandma's chicken soup...

Suddenly I wanted to trade some chickens, ducks and geese with the villagers. The chickens, ducks and geese in the mountains roam freely, growing up eating insects and grains, and they taste much better than those raised on hormones.

Unfortunately, living things cannot enter this space.

Zuo Ling pouted, wondering when living beings would be allowed into the space.

Come to think of it, I haven't tried to enter the realm of living beings in this lifetime.

What if things change?

Yes, I'll try it tomorrow.

After finishing the noodles and soup, wash the bowls and chopsticks thoroughly.

I had something on my mind and couldn't fall asleep.

Put on night vision goggles and enter the main shrine.

I patted baking soda onto my hands several times and put on insulated gloves.

Kneeling devoutly before the Bodhisattva, he mumbled in a whisper:

"Bodhisattva, Bodhisattva, I wish to take the treasures from the three of you. I apologize for the offense, but please be magnanimous and don't hold it against me. A natural disaster is coming, and even if I don't take them, you can't protect them anyway. They might be buried in some dark and sunless corner. It's better to give them to me. I kowtow to the three of you."

Thump, thump, thump... I forgot to count, I don't know how many times I kowtowed, I only got up when I felt I was sincere enough.

He made a gesture of putting his hands together in prayer position.

"Amitabha Buddha, Namo Amitabha Buddha, may the Bodhisattva protect us, may the Buddha protect us, may the Immortal Lord protect us, may the Gods protect us..."

She recited a bunch of miscellaneous things, but remembered that the Great Sage Equaling Heaven and Marshal Tianpeng were not mentioned, so she didn't ask these two to protect her.

I figured there must be something the Bodhisattva would understand, so I wouldn't be so petty as to punish her.

Then continue reciting:

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, please forgive me, please forgive me. If you don't say anything, I'll take it as your agreement."

After completing the process, climb the ladder to retrieve the treasure.

First, take the hairpin on the right side. The hairpin is inserted directly into the hole in the head, so it's the easiest to remove.

Zuo Ling was truly terrified of that rampaging, enormous energy.

You can't understand what kind of pain it is without experiencing it yourself.

After mentally preparing myself several times, I tremblingly touched the hairpin and silently said, "Put it away!"

With a whoosh, the hairpin disappeared and reappeared in the space in an instant, much to Zuo Ling's delight!

Quickly insert the replica into the Buddha's head.

After inserting it, I checked it over repeatedly, and it was fine! I'll just add some ash to the hairpin in a little while, and then it won't be noticeable.

Next, take the bead on the left.

Zuo Ling tried it; of the string of beads, only the energy crystal and the beads on the left and right sides could move, while the others were dead.

The beads are strung very tightly, and the chain is probably made of stone.

I wonder what method the ancients used to string energy crystals into the beaded necklace.

He took out the switchblade and carefully pried it little by little, intending to create a gap to cut the stone chain.

I didn't dare to pry open the energy crystal directly; instead, I pried open the bead next to it.

While prying, he muttered to himself, "Switch knife, switch knife, you are my sharpest weapon. The time has come to show your power. Don't let me down."

If all else fails, I'll have to resort to violence.

After prying for seven or eight minutes, she actually managed to pry open a crack.

Finally, they saw a glimmer of hope, and Zuo Ling pried even harder.

With a snap, the stone chain broke, and the three beads fell straight down.

Startled, Zuo Ling frantically tried to catch it, but barely managed.

Silently recite, "Collect," and the beads appear in the space.

Silently chanting "Come back," the two beads returned to Zuo Ling's hand, leaving only the black bead in the space to keep company with the white hairpin.

Wiping the sweat from her brow, Zuo Ling didn't dare make too much noise, even though the courtyard gate was locked.

The sound of the bead falling to the ground was quite loud; if someone with ulterior motives heard it, it would be a big problem.

Looking at the Bodhisattva, it was indeed a chain made of stone. It couldn't be reattached; it could only be stuck on.

Zuo Ling prepared marble glue, which is said to be most effective at sticking to stones.

Clean the stone chain and the two beads thoroughly inside and out, apply marble glue, and attach the imitation.

The beads are small, so no quick-drying agent was used.

After applying the glue, Zuo Ling held it until it felt dry before letting go.

I let go, but I didn't dare to let go completely; I held on for quite a while.

One second, two seconds... ten seconds... one minute...

Three minutes later, it was confirmed that it wouldn't fall.

Step back and observe carefully. No problem, perfect!

Finally, look at the Bodhisattva in the center.

The black and white companion stones are the most difficult to obtain; just thinking about the pain of them piercing the brain makes Zuo Ling tremble all over.
