Chapter 346 Lack of Martial Morality

Liu Bao'er became a little star at the base, attracting attention wherever she went.

He's a sweet-talking little guy who makes a bunch of adults very happy. Everyone who sees him likes to hug him and tease him.

That day, Liu Bao'er strolled into the plantation.

The gatekeeper had seen him come and go several times and knew who he was, as well as that the child's uncle worked at the plantation.

He had a stern face, but his eyes held a smile.

Liu Bao'er stared at him, while shuffling her legs as she made her way into the plantation.

His cautious demeanor amused the gatekeeper, who sternly asked him:

"Little one, who are you from? What are you doing here?"

“I…I’m from the Liu family. My name is Liu Bao’er. My uncle works at the plantation. I miss him.”

Liu Bao'er then put on an adorable, bewildered, and timid expression.

"Oh, really? Weren't you two together this morning?" the security guard teased him.

Liu Bao'er kept a bitter face and didn't say a word.

"Honestly, are you planning to go in and steal some good food?"

Liu Bao'er pouted, her eyes reddened, and she burst into tears.

A child's tears are like a lethal weapon; the security guard was at a loss and quickly tried to comfort her.

"Uncle is just teasing you, don't cry, don't cry."

The more he tried to comfort her, the harder Liu Bao'er cried.

The gatekeeper had never experienced anything like this before and was completely panicked. If you handed him a treaty that would be remembered for all time, he would sign it with his eyes closed.

"Don't cry, don't cry. Didn't you want to see your uncle? Your uncle will have someone take you there."

Liu Bao'er ignored him and cried sadly to herself.

He Guiqi returned from outside and saw a child crying loudly at the door. "Hey, what's wrong?"

The gatekeeper was startled and immediately stood at attention.

"Reporting to Company Commander He, he... he wants to go in to find his uncle."

He Guiqi didn't take it seriously and waved his hand, "Alright, leave it to me, go do your thing."

The gatekeeper, feeling like he'd been granted a pardon, quickly handed over the hot potato.

He Guiqi squatted down, looked directly into Liu Bao'er's eyes, and tried to scare him:

"Stop crying. If you cry again, I won't take you inside to find your uncle."

Liu Bao'er choked and stopped sobbing.

He Guiqi smiled and patted his little head:

"You must be that golden doll. You're so cute. Look how you've cried yourself into a mess."

He used his large hand to wipe away the tears on Liu Bao'er's face.

His hands had a lot of roughness, which made Liu Bao'er very uncomfortable, and she kept trying to avoid him.

She managed to dodge away, then threw herself into He Guiqi's arms, saying in a soft, sweet voice, "Big brother, please take me to find my uncle."

He Guiqi's heart softened, and he felt a strange sense of satisfaction from being needed, so he picked him up in his arms:

"Okay, big brother will take you there."

Liu Bao'er's eyelashes were still wet with tears, but her face was already beaming with joy.

He Guiqi's heart softened even more, and he sighed, "Children are so easy to please."

Back in the day... back in the day, he wasn't so easily satisfied.

When their demands are refused, they immediately resort to their trump card... throwing tantrums, crying and screaming, refusing to give in until they get what they want, which gradually fostered their tyrannical nature.

Ah, those good times are gone forever, I really miss them.

Along the way, many young soldiers came over to look at Liu Bao'er, and Liu Bao'er called them "brother" and "uncle" affectionately.

He Guiqi suddenly appeared, and I thought how wonderful it would be if I had a baby.

"Alright, alright, get back to work, get back to work. Have you all finished your work?"

Company Commander He's face darkened, and the young soldiers scattered in a flash.

Liu Bao'er's beautiful big eyes sparkled as she pointed to He Guiqi's epaulettes and said in her childish voice:

"Big brother, you must be a high-ranking official, because they are all afraid of you."

He Guiqi's vanity soared to the heavens, and he raised his head and said, "It's... alright."

"Then please assign my uncle an easier job. He's getting old and can't be too tired."

He Guiqi was amused by him, "You little rascal, you even know how to use connections."

Liu Bao'er giggled.

The plantation was very large. After walking a long way, we arrived at Liu Guojun's workplace, where he was planting seeds.

Liu Bao'er shouted excitedly, "Uncle, Uncle!"

Liu Guojun shuddered in fright, pretending to wipe his sweat. Good heavens, why can't I escape this living ancestor no matter where I go?

"Thank you, big brother."

After thanking He Guiqi politely, Liu Bao'er happily ran towards Liu Guojun.

He Guiqi looked on with envy. Tsk, tsk, it's time to find a wife. Who should he find... and have a child with?

Sigh, the base is practically a monastery. Girls of marriageable age are in high demand and very picky. They wouldn't even look at him. Another long sigh escapes his lips.

"Uncle."

Liu Bao'er affectionately threw herself into Liu Guojun's arms, and Liu Guojun froze, not daring to move.

He gave an awkward, dry laugh: "Bao'er, what brings you here?"

"I've come to see you, Uncle. Are you tired?" she said, taking Liu Guojun's hand and leading him outside.

Liu Guojun could only apologize to his partner, saying, "I'll be right back."

"Go ahead, go ahead, there's no rush."

"Hey, Old Liu is really lucky, at least he has a nephew."

"Look at them, and then look at us. When we get old, we won't even have anyone to see us off in our final days."

The topic brought up a somber mood for everyone, leaving them feeling melancholic.

After getting away from the crowd, Liu Bao'er shook off Liu Guojun, wiped her face, and asked in a hoarse voice, "Have you seen Pei Nansheng and his sister?"

Information about the siblings was not hard to find out: Zuo Ling worked on a plantation, Pei Nansheng was a vendor at the market, and Xiao Hao was a bodyguard for Chief Mei.

Liu Bao'er went to the market but didn't see Pei Nansheng, so she came to the plantation instead.

"I...I've met Zuo Ling. She should be in the vegetable greenhouse right now."
