Li Mingli squinted at Zuo Ling, his expression so exaggerated that his face seemed to shift.
He Guizi hid behind the two of them, waving his hand at Zuo Ling and covering his mouth.
Bai Hongwei glared at them and sneered, "When did you find out? You didn't go around shouting it out with a megaphone, did you?"
Zuo Ling: "..."
Yes, people are all selfish, so no one should look down on anyone else!
Lin Wang smoothed things over:
"Sister Zuo, this might be the last time we come here for a meal. We don't know when we'll see each other again, so please make sure we have a good meal."
Zuo Ling glared at him. "When have you ever been hungry since you came here?"
Li Mingli chimed in, "Um, Sister Zuo, just stir-fry two plates of vegetables, don't make it too complicated."
Hmph, you really aren't picky!
He Guizi had just arrived and didn't dare to be too casual, so he nodded and bowed, saying, "I'll eat anything, I'll eat anything."
Zuo Ling heated up two large plates of vegetable dumplings and a large pot of corn porridge, added a few big red dates, and lifted the lid, filling the room with the aroma of dates.
The vegetable dumplings come with three fillings: one is bok choy, wood ear mushrooms, and dried shrimp; another is bok choy and vermicelli; and the third is bok choy and diced sausage. All three fillings contain pork cracklings.
The cornmeal outer layer, when served, is a beautiful golden yellow.
As soon as it was served, Bai Hongwei and the others gathered around.
Ignoring the heat, Lin Wang picked one up and popped it into his mouth: "Hoo-ha, hoo-ha, what kind of filling is this? It's so delicious."
Zuo Ling spared no expense, adding plenty of oil and pork cracklings, along with all the seasonings. It also contained some small green vegetables that Lin Wang and the others rarely got to eat, so of course it was delicious.
Li Mingli popped one into his mouth with each hand: "Oh, oh, oh, so hot, so hot! It's filled with bok choy, and also has wood ear mushrooms and dried shrimp. It's delicious, so delicious."
He Guizi disregarded his composure and began stuffing the food into his mouth with both hands.
Bai Hongwei ate slowly and methodically; though it looked slow, he finished most of the food in one bite.
In the blink of an eye, most of the vegetable dumplings were gone.
Lin Wang pouted and mumbled:
"Sister Zuo, is there anything else at home? We don't need to make anything else, just this will do. Two plates won't be enough."
"Yes, plenty, eat as much as you want."
The group never came empty-handed, and they had helped Zuo Ling several times, even saving Pei Nansheng's son, Xiao Hao. Zuo Ling certainly wouldn't be stingy if they met again sometime in the future.
I stir-fried a stir-fried lettuce with black bean dace, a stir-fried bok choy with dried shrimp, a large plate of lettuce with dipping sauce, a platter of cured pork and sausage, a plate of fried peanuts, two plates of pan-fried fish dumplings, and freshly steamed vegetable dumplings in a stainless steel bowl.
He Guizi's eyes widened in disbelief. His family had no shortage of food and drink, but they had never been so extravagant since the apocalypse.
What's that? What is it?? Green vegetables! Green vegetables!! Green vegetables!!
What's most lacking right now? Green food, green vegetables!! No wonder Bai Hongwei, Lin Wang, and Li Mingli always want to come to Sister Zuo's house for dinner.
Even though he's the grandson of the richest man, he still has to think about the food.
He brought out two bottles of Moutai and two bottles of Romantic Country wine.
Zuo Ling said, "Brother, why don't you have a drink with them? We don't know when we'll see each other again."
They toasted and drank, enjoying the meal to the fullest, leaving not a single drop of corn porridge.
Before leaving, Lin Wang rubbed his stomach, looked miserable, and said in a pleading tone, "Sister Zuo, I'm full. My parents are still hungry at home."
Li Mingli followed suit, saying, "Sister Zuo, my grandma is over eighty years old and hasn't had any green vegetables in a long time."
He Guizi opened his mouth. He was the grandson of the richest man. The richest man's family was short of food and drink. He said, "Zuo Ling has to believe it too."
Bai Hongwei always pretended to be reserved; since Lin Wang and Li Mingli were both involved, he had to be included as well.
"Alright, alright, stop acting. We've already prepared everything for you."
Frozen vegetable dumplings the size of a baby's fist, 100 dumplings per bag, one big bag for each person.
The family consists of three people and two animals, all of whom are sleek and healthy, with a pleasing appearance and plenty of flesh on their bodies. She tried to pretend to be poor, but she couldn't pull it off.
Fortunately, the others were sensible and never asked her questions that were difficult for her to answer.
The four of them beamed with joy: "Thank you, Sister Zuo. Sister Zuo knows exactly what we mean."
"You're like my own sister, even my own sister isn't as good as you."
"Oh, thanks to Sister Zuo, we can finally have something to eat."
