Chapter 180 The Road Ahead is Long

"Four people can still survive, which saves you trouble."

Zuo Ling's words were light and airy, but they struck Liu Da's heart like a heavy hammer. He hated Zuo Ling so much that he wanted to kill her, but Zuo Ling's gun was pointed at the back of his head, and he dared not make any rash moves.

With his eyes closed, he fired a shot randomly, missing a vital spot. The man let out a scream of pain, but exclaimed with delight:

"Girl, I was shot, but he didn't kill me. Can you spare me?"

A villager cried out urgently, "Girl, we can't let him get away with this! He... he's eaten people!"

The man who was shot was furious: "You're talking nonsense! You're spouting lies! Which eye of yours saw me eat people?"

“I saw it with both eyes.”

The more people die, the greater the chance of survival for the rest. Immediately, someone chimed in:

“I saw it too, you ate the youngest grandson of Old Meng’s family in our village.”

"Nonsense! I'd say you're a cannibal! You think I don't know how the eldest granddaughter of the Li family in the next village died?"

"You're spouting nonsense. You can eat people yourself, so don't try to drag me into this."

"..."

The villagers, one after another, revealed each other's secrets.

No wonder they weren't afraid of the dead; it's a village that eats people. Zuo Ling sneered.

Xiao Hao's eyes widened as he heard this, and he tugged at Pei Nansheng's arm: "Brother, they eat people, it's so scary."

Pei Nansheng remained silent with a gloomy face. He had been too kind-hearted, living a more comfortable life with Zuo Ling than before the apocalypse, and had forgotten the cruelty of humanity.

Zuo Ling, holding Liu Da's hand, fired a second shot at the man who had been shot, and said leisurely:

"It's okay to waste a bullet, I'll give you another one in a bit."

"It can even...heal!" The villagers were dumbfounded; their clever idea vanished without a trace.

Although Liu Da was fierce and tyrannical, he had lived in the village for many years and had some connection with the local people.

Let him bully the villagers and beat them up; he wouldn't even blink.

But he couldn't bring himself to kill the villagers, especially 15 people at once, some of whom were his relatives.

My heart was filled with sorrow. I hadn't realized he still had a conscience until I pushed him to the brink!

Zuo Ling sneered:

"What, you can't bring yourself to do it? You two came here with guns, intending to rob our supplies, right? You're just looking to kill us. If it weren't for the fact that my brother and I have some self-defense skills, we would already be dead under your guns. Now you can't bring yourself to do it. Let me tell you, I didn't intend to do anything to them. At most, I just wanted them to suffer a little. If you hadn't wanted our lives, they would have gone home safely by now."

Upon hearing this, the villagers realized that the female demon didn't actually want their lives; they were implicated because of Liu Da and Liu Er.

At that time, some people couldn't help but speak up:

"Liu Da, you bastard, you heartless scoundrel! We could still be alive without you two, but now it's all over."

Once the first person takes the lead, a second will follow.

"Liu Da, you son of a bitch, who gave you permission to use a gun? I'll curse your ancestors."

“Your whole family is worthless. If your wife hadn’t been greedy for that rabbit, none of this would have happened. It’s all over, all over. If I die, how will my wife and children survive?”

"..."

They all shirked responsibility, completely forgetting that when they bullied Xiao Hao with Liu's wife, they wanted a share of the spoils.

Liu Daben was not a kind person to begin with, and he got angry when he was scolded, bang, bang, bang, bang...

The bullets missed their mark, the blood was blinding, and the surviving villagers were too frightened to utter a sound.

Taking the empty gun, Zuo Ling shoved the other gun into Liu Da's hand: "Continue."

The bloodshed fueled Liu Da's ferocity; the thrill of bullying the weak lessened his inner resentment. Bang, bang, bang...

Two rounds of firing, and there were no survivors under the tarpaulin.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk, that's ruthless. Didn't I tell you there were only four people who could survive? How come you killed them all?"

Zuo Ling shook her head regretfully.

Liu was stunned. Did he and his brother have a total of 15 bullets in their gun? They emptied one. How could this be…?

His eyes widened, and he belatedly realized, "It was you, you switched the gun."

Zuo Ling said jokingly, "It was me, but I didn't tell you to throw them all out."

Liu was initially fuming, but his mind gradually cleared. "You never intended to let us go back, did you?"

Zuo Ling smiled wickedly:

"You're wrong. They were all killed by you two, by your greed. Their vengeful spirits haven't gone far. Once you go down there, they will naturally come looking for you."

His wife died, his brother died, and he beat 19 villagers to death. Even if he survived, the villagers would not forgive him.

Liu Dawan was filled with despair and closed his eyes, begging for death: "Come on, give me a quick death."

A gunshot rang out, and a corpse lay on the ground.

The bodies were piled up in one place, gasoline was poured on them, and they were set on fire.

They could no longer stay there, and the family of five drifted away.

The villagers who had been watching from a distance only dared to go to the scene of the incident after Zuo Ling and the others had left.

A pile of ashes, corpses like charcoal sticks, and a few scattered embers.

Sobs rose, suppressed and filled with resentment; they dared not cry out loud, for fear of summoning the demon back.

Two days later, the family returned home laden with their purchases, and Zuo Ling drove directly to the goods exchange hall.

The car was loaded with all sorts of odds and ends: medicine, bedding, fabric, liquor, red wine, cigarettes, skincare products, toiletries, two large barrels of rare metals, and two mink coats.

The supplies Zuo Ling took out were in a mess, because she didn't want anyone to know where they came from.

The people in the supply hall were dizzy from looking at all the different kinds of supplies. They had seen so many people come to exchange supplies, but they had never seen such a mixed bag of items.

All supplies are scarce, and everything looks good. As long as it looks intact, no one cares whether it's expired or not.

The staff at the materials hall invited relevant technical personnel to inspect the rare metals.
