Chapter 33 The Amazing Village

As soon as she arrived, the shopkeeper brought out three items.

I must say, the modern craftsmanship is superb; all three items are made to look exactly the same.

Not only did they make it, they also aged it. The word "amazing" is not enough to describe their superb craftsmanship.

Even though the eyes in the photo are a flat image, the shop still managed to make the eyeballs.

Zuo Ling had never seen what a human eyeball looked like, so she didn't know if it was real or not, but it looked quite lifelike.

We left the craft shop and hurried back to the village.

If we don't leave now, it will get dark.

We sped along at breakneck speed, it felt like a rally race.

We arrived in the village around 6 p.m.

The child, with sharp eyes, spotted Zuo Ling's car in the distance and ran towards the village shouting:

"The antique dealer auntie is back! The antique dealer auntie is back..."

Zuo Ling "..."

Not bad, except she's called "Auntie" more than an antique dealer.

Moreover, it's not "coming," it's "returning."

Unlike the coldness she showed when she first came.

The village chief, his wife, and many other familiar villagers rushed out with their rice bowls in hand.

"Girl, you're here. Have you eaten yet?"

"You probably haven't eaten yet, why don't you come to my house for a meal?"

"Come to my house, my family is having meat for dinner."

"The fried dough sticks my family makes smell amazing, come to my house."

"..."

Zuo Ling enjoys seeing the villagers' smiling faces, but she can't handle excessive enthusiasm.

"Thank you, ma'am, I've already eaten."

"What's wrong? You obviously haven't eaten. Why are you being so formal with me? Come here and make yourself at home."

"Exactly, look how thin her face is. A young lady can't go without eating properly."

"Come on, let's go to my house for a meal. My son caught some fish by the river, and I'll stew it for you."

"..."

The warmth of the air diluted the somber mountain colors.

Zuo Ling looked to the old village chief for help:

"Uncle, I'm exhausted after running on mountain roads for two days and need to rest. I'm not in a hurry to leave, let's talk about it tomorrow, okay?"

Knowing why the villagers were so enthusiastic, Zuo Ling had important things to do and didn't want to collect the stones right away.

The old village chief raised his hand to shoo people away:

"Alright, alright, the sentiment has been shown, and the young lady appreciates it. Everyone, go, go. The young lady isn't in a hurry to leave. If she has something to do, we can talk about it tomorrow."

Once they were sure Zuo Ling wasn't in a hurry to leave, the villagers quickly dispersed.

The village chief's wife warmly pulled Zuo Ling toward her house.

Zuo Ling refused, saying, "Auntie, I prefer peace and quiet. I'll just stay in the ancestral hall."

The village chief's wife pretended to be stern: "How can that be? There's no ancestral hall or anything. How are we supposed to live there?"

Zuo Ling opened the rear door:

"Auntie, I'll stay in the car. There are blankets in the car, and you can sleep in them. Feel them, they're very comfortable."

A Tank 500 might not seem like much to the rich, but to the village chief's wife, it's not even worthy of being touched.

She timidly touched the bedding: "It's quite soft, isn't it stuffy?"

The village chief chimed in, "What do you know? It's a nice car, what's there to be upset about?"

Then realizing he had said something wrong, as if he didn't welcome the girl staying at his home, he quickly tried to salvage the situation:

"Ah, the car is too cramped. Why don't you come stay at my place? It's more spacious there."

“You can stay in my daughter-in-law’s room. It’s a new room, more comfortable than our old couple’s room. I’ll have them make room for you.”

The village chief's wife echoed her husband's sentiments, indicating their willingness to keep the guests.

"No need, no need to trouble yourself. I'm always on the go, I'm used to living in my car."

The old village chief and his wife confirmed with Zuo Ling again and again, fearing that they might have slighted her.

Seeing that Zuo Ling didn't seem to be faking it and genuinely didn't want to stay at someone else's house, they gave up.

Back at the ancestral hall, after seeing off the old village chief and his wife and locking the courtyard gate, I finally relaxed.
