Is Chapter 319 worth it?

"46 people died, 27 were seriously injured, and 41 were slightly injured. Among them, 8 suffered visual impairment and 4 suffered brain nerve damage..."

"Stop talking, stop talking, I know, I know."

Lin Wang fled in panic. He was a smart man. As soon as Zuo Ling mentioned the numbers, Lin Wang knew why Bai Hongwei was not seeing him.

Those people died because of them. Not to mention Bai Hongwei, even Lin Wang himself felt guilty.

It's always been difficult to have everything. From Zuo Ling's perspective, it's worth paying a higher price to destroy such an evil island.

Otherwise, even more people would die.

Zuo Ling couldn't concern herself with the entanglement between the two; she was busy.

The military doctor was too busy, so she would occasionally lend a hand, secretly sending some space water and transferring some supernatural power to the unconscious soldiers.

I don't seek thanks from others; as long as I have a clear conscience, that's enough.

Cheers suddenly erupted on the ship.

With so many people dead, the atmosphere was somber, and there was little loud noise. The cheers, however, aroused Zuo Ling's curiosity.

After two days of gloom, the soldiers were all beaming with joy.

Xiao Hao squeezed out from the crowd: "Sister, Brother Bai promised to give everyone a piece of leather."

No wonder!

In the apocalypse, everything is scarce, and furs and similar items have been unavailable for many years.

With the changeable climate, many people suffer from diseases such as arthritis. The soldiers would naturally be happy to have a good piece of fur to make a moisture-proof mattress.

Wiping the dirt off Xiao Hao's face, Zuo Ling smiled and said, "Take your time and pick out a nice one for each of us."

Xiao Hao's eyes widened, and he asked in a low voice, "Do we want some too?"

The older sister had plenty of furs and other material possessions, and they didn't lack any of them. Compared to the soldiers, their family was far too wealthy, and Xiao Hao couldn't bear to compete with the impoverished soldiers.

"Why shouldn't I accept what I earned through my own abilities?"

Everyone else wants it, but you don't. Don't you find that strange?

Zuo Ling didn't want to explain too clearly, but Xiao Hao should also use his brain and think it over carefully.

"Then I'll take my time and pick carefully."

The money he earned himself was very different from what his sister gave him. Xiao Hao's joy was no different from that of the soldiers, and he jumped high to pick out the hides.

After all, he was just a child and couldn't tell the difference between good and bad. The deputy battalion commander was very perceptive and pointed out two wolf skins and one wild goat skin to him.

There were plenty of good leathers, and everyone got the leather they wanted; no unpleasant incidents occurred.

For several days in a row, Zuo Ling did not see Bai Hongwei.

One night, feeling stuffy, she went up to the deck for some fresh air.

The sea was calm, and the roar of the motor brought me a sense of tranquility.

Gazing at the half-hidden moonlight, for some reason, I suddenly felt a small surge of excitement, a desire to get drunk and sing with the poet Li Bai.

He pulled out a small Erguotou bottle, about the size of his palm, unscrewed the cap, and took a small sip.

She doesn't usually drink baijiu (Chinese liquor), and the spiciness made her cough repeatedly.

"Erguotou? Give me a sip."

A voice came from the shadows, startling Zuo Ling, who squinted to look.

What are you doing here?

Bai Hongwei had a stubble beard, dark circles under his eyes, and looked much thinner. His clothes were also less neat than usual.

Bai Hongwei grinned, said nothing, and reached out to Zuo Ling.

Zuo Ling handed him the bottle of Erguotou (a type of Chinese liquor), and Bai Hongwei held the bottle, looking at it again and again:

"Not bad, even at this hour, you're still hiding a bottle of Erguotou."

He tilted his head back and gulped it down.

That's enough, leave some for me.

Bai Hongwei was clearly in a bad mood, and Zuo Ling didn't want to see him act crazy while drunk.

Bai Hongwei ignored her, downed the whole bottle in one gulp, and tossed it aside.

Picking up the bottle, Zuo Ling kicked him:

"What are you doing here? Acting like a sentimental young literary youth, wallowing in melancholy?"

Bai Hongwei closed his eyes and leaned against the ship's wall without saying a word.

If she was going to ignore him, then so be it. Zuo Ling wasn't one to make a fool of herself, so she turned and left.

"Why don't you have any patience at all? You see me upset, and you don't even try to comfort me."

Bai Hongwei said with a sob in his voice.

Zuo Ling detected a hint of coquetry in her voice and rolled her eyes: "How old are you? Are you still breastfeeding? You still need to be coaxed."

She remembered Bai Hongwei's premature attack. He was already very magnanimous not to push him into the ranks of enemies. He still wanted her to coax him? What a pipe dream.

"Sister, are you angry with me?"
