Chapter 108 The Parrot's Fate

"It is indeed quite heavy." Ji Yueyao glanced at the backpack, pursed her lips, and said somewhat guiltily.

Mu Yanxuan watched Ji Yueyao nervously fiddling with her fingers and suddenly found her incredibly cute for some reason. He leaned over and raised his hand to ruffle Ji Yueyao's hair, but Ji Yueyao noticed and subtly dodged away. It wasn't that she disliked Mu Yanxuan's touch, but every time he ruffled her hair, she always felt a blush and her heart race... It was really too challenging!

Mu Yan paused for a moment, then withdrew his hand after a brief silence. He didn't say another word for the rest of the way, hanging his head as if he were heartbroken. This made the baiyi and the others quickly retreat three feet.

Ji Yueyao twitched her lips, and then, as if possessed, reached out and grabbed Mu Yanxuan's sleeve. After grabbing it, she froze. What should she do now?

Mu Yanxuan turned around, his eyes immediately lighting up, almost as if he had a tail wagging.

"Cough, the road is difficult to walk on." Ji Yueyao coughed lightly and said calmly.

Mu Yanxuan lowered his eyes to look at the path they were walking on. Although there were many tangled plant roots, it was generally flat. He gently curled the corners of his mouth and put his arm around Ji Yueyao. "Then I'll help you walk."

Good heavens, could this be any more shameless?

Ji Yueyao stared silently at the hand resting on her shoulder, veins throbbing on her forehead. What kind of support was this? Was this how you support someone?!

Ji Yueyao rolled her eyes at Mu Yanxuan silently, too lazy to pay attention to this childish guy.

"My lord," the snow fox suddenly spoke up after the group had been walking for about half an hour, "there is a familiar aura around us."

"A familiar aura?" Mu Yanxuan turned around, his eyes slightly narrowed.

Snow Fox gritted his teeth, then looked up at the left with a complicated expression. "It's the scent of a parrot, in... that direction."

"That traitor?" Black Cat sneered upon hearing this, and hatred immediately flashed in his eyes. "Is he alone? Where's Fishing Fire? Let's go and meet them."

“There’s no sign of fishing lights, and he’s all alone.” Snow Fox gritted his teeth, closed his eyes, and concentrated even more. “We can’t rule out the possibility that it’s a trap.”

"So, should we go or not?" Bai Yi looked at Mu Yanxuan, only to see Mu Yanxuan merely raise his eyes expressionlessly. "My lord?"

“In the past.” Mu Yanxuan didn’t care about any traps. He tightened his grip on Ji Yueyao’s shoulder slightly and then said coldly, “Since he has already betrayed us, let’s send him on his way.”

"Yes." Black Cat and the others nodded, each with a solemn expression. They were about to face their former comrades with swords drawn.

Ji Yueyao hadn't uttered a single word from beginning to end. Now, inside the Forbidden Forest, for some reason, the various noises from when she arrived were gone from her mind. All she could hear was the voice coming from the sky: "The direction you're pointing to... there's only a corpse there, and it's not even fully intact."

A corpse? Ji Yueyao raised an eyebrow, then walked silently to Mu Yanxuan's side.

When they followed the snow fox to where the parrot was, they only saw a mutilated body. The body had obviously been burned first, and then torn apart by something. Now, only a small, indistinct part of the body remained.

A section of an arm could be vaguely seen... Ji Yueyao pursed her lips and then turned her head away.

"This injury... seems to be a burn from the fishing fire's supernatural power." Termite was the first to crouch down, then narrowed his eyes as he looked at the parrot's wounds. "They're fighting amongst themselves?"

"Seems so." The black cat looked at the person in front of it with a complicated expression, then squatted down and reached out to touch his already cold body. The days when they fought side by side seemed to be just yesterday, but all that time couldn't compare to the hideous faces they had when they betrayed it. "Should we bury him?"

"Bury it." Mu Yanxuan lowered his eyes and only glanced at the corpse on the ground, which was already unrecognizable due to its disfigurement, before turning to leave.

This was his final act of respect for this so-called partner.

Ji Yueyao never really cared about the dead parrot. It wasn't that she was too cold-blooded, but rather that this kind of traitor always reminded her of Xu Lingnan, and she felt a deep-seated contempt and disdain for him.

"Now that I think about it, there aren't so many noisy sounds in my brain anymore," Ji Yueyao said to herself, looking back while holding her backpack.

"Of course, all the noises that might bother you have been disrupted by the fluctuations of my 'Why Bother Contacting' technique." The smug voice of the sky entered Ji Yueyao's mind. "So hurry up and thank me. From now on, you'll have to hold me in the palm of your hand and worship me every day. You'll have to wipe me clean every day, and even the place where you put my head will have to be a clean, tidy, and fragrant cushion!"

"Hmm, thank you." Why don't you just fly to the sky? Ji Yueyao nodded lightly, then reached into her backpack and rubbed her head against the sky.

"You're crazy!" Sky said unhappily, "You can't touch my head... uh uh uh..."

Ji Yueyao calmly continued to shake the bag up, down, left, and right, humming to herself, "You think you can mess with me with just a piece of skull? Humph!"

"Ji Yueyao?" Mu Yanxuan appeared behind Ji Yueyao at some point. "I've been wanting to say this since the beginning, who are you always talking to...?"

"Uh... I didn't..."

"Don't lie to me." Mu Yanxuan looked down at Ji Yueyao, who barely reached his chest, his voice slightly cold. He stubbornly wrapped his arm around Ji Yueyao's waist to make sure she would never leave him.

Ji Yueyao looked up into Mu Yanxuan's eyes and felt a slight tremor in her heart at the vulnerability hidden in those deep eyes. She could almost hear the vibrant beating of his heart. She was silent for a moment, then finally nodded and whispered, "He's my friend."

"Your friend?" Mu Yanxuan narrowed his eyes, looking around curiously. "Besides us, there's no one else here."

"He... um, can I tell you when we get back?" Ji Yueyao hesitated for a moment, then glanced at the black cat and the others behind Mu Yanxuan and said softly.

It wasn't that she didn't trust the black cat and the snow fox, but judging from their attitude towards her, letting them know about the sky's existence could potentially bring danger to the sky.

"So you're actually thinking of me, woman?" Sky's smug voice interrupted Ji Yueyao's thoughts. Ji Yueyao suddenly realized that Sky seemed to know everything she was thinking, and she immediately became uneasy.

Does that mean she has absolutely no privacy?!

"Can we only talk about it when we get back?" Mu Yanxuan thought for a moment, then bent down and rubbed Ji Yueyao's face against his cheek. "Whatever you say is fine."

Very good, Ji Yueyao didn't hide it from him, and he was very happy. Mu Yanxuan looked at Ji Yueyao's slightly flushed smiling face and his eyes crinkled with pleasure.

Ji Yueyao was just thinking about how to warn Tiankong when Mu Yanxuan's enlarged handsome face loomed close, almost startling her. (To be continued.)
