Chapter 135 Secretly Following

"What are you doing?" Ji Yueyao said angrily, avoiding Xia Yaoxuan's hand.

Xia Yaoxuan sighed helplessly and finally took a step back, saying, "Yueyue, what you just said isn't the point."

"Huh?" Ji Yueyao asked, puzzled.

"At the time, Qin Lichang's headquarters was also occupied by his mother, Xu Yazhi, who is also Mu Yanxuan's biological mother." Xia Yaoxuan looked at Ji Yueyao, a complex look flashing in his eyes. "Some people say that Xu Yazhi was killed by Mu Yanxuan, while others say that she committed suicide. But no matter how Xu Yazhi died, shouldn't you stay away from Mu Yanxuan, who was able to watch his own mother die?"

Ji Yueyao fell silent, her head bowed, and no one knew what she was thinking.

“No matter what his mother did to him, she is still his mother, isn’t she? And one more thing…” Xia Yaoxuan looked at Ji Yueyao and felt that he had hit the nail on the head, so he pressed on and continued, “After the war in the military region ended, I don’t know how Mu Yanxuan tortured Qin Lichang and his confidants. I only know that Qin Lichang fled to the Northern Military Region covered in wounds. At that time, there was not a single part of his body that was intact. Those gruesome wounds were enough to make anyone shudder.”

Ji Yueyao frowned upon hearing this, "It's not necessarily Mu Yanxuan's doing."

Xia Yaoxuan shook his head, seemingly unconcerned by Ji Yueyao's suspicions. He simply looked at the girl in front of him and calmly recounted, "Back then, the people the Black Race had planted in the military region also saw the corpses of Qin Lichang's trusted confidants. None of those corpses were intact; they were all mutilated beyond recognition. Even the best ones only had half a body intact, and the various signs of corrosion were clearly visible. Tell me, in this military region, besides Mu Yanxuan who has the ability to corrode, who else would have such an ability?"

“And all of these dead people were from the generation that grew up with Mu Yanxuan. Although we don’t know what Mu Yanxuan went through in his childhood, no matter how much we hate him, Mu Yanxuan’s killing was definitely not for revenge.” Xia Yaoxuan looked at Ji Yueyao and continued in a deep voice, “Perhaps he just enjoys the thrill of killing.”

"..." The corridor fell silent. Ji Yueyao rolled her eyes at Xia Yaoxuan, not taking his words to heart. During the time she had spent with Mu Yanxuan, she had never felt that he was a pervert. "Don't think so much. I know. I'll stay away from him."

Xia Yaoxuan looked at Ji Yueyao's perfunctory attitude with some doubt, "Really? Don't try to fool me, I'm serious."

"Yes, yes, really, I was just going to the Xiyu base to see my friend. It has nothing to do with Mu Yanxuan." Ji Yueyao nodded quickly, afraid that Xia Yaoxuan would ask her to make some kind of promise again. She turned around and strode forward, pushed open the door and walked into her office.

But as soon as she entered, Xia Yaoxuan blocked the door, poked his head in, and said in a gentle tone, "How about I go with you?"

"..." Ji Yueyao's lips twitched.

However, Xia Yaoxuan ultimately did not make it.

It wasn't because Xia Yaoxuan wasn't determined enough; heaven knows he was practically begging Ji Yueyao for help. But Ji Yueyao, along with Baiyi and Kaqi, managed to slip away right under Xia Yaoxuan's nose, taking advantage of their knowledge of the Nanxiao base's terrain.

"Why are we acting like thieves even though this is our own base?" the termite lamented.

Kachi looked out the window at the endless dust, feeling a mix of emotions. Was she going back to the Xiyu base again? She had spent nineteen years there, and now that she was going back, she felt a sense of anticipation.

"This is outside!" The voice of the sky suddenly appeared in Ji Yueyao's mind. Ji Yueyao looked down at the skull peeking out of the bag, raised her hand and opened the window to let the sky see more clearly.

"No matter when you see a skull with two blue eyes looking around, it's always a bit creepy." Termite was holding the steering wheel, glancing at the sky in his bag, which was staring around with its two blue eyes.

Ji Yueyao had already told Kaqi and the others about what happened in the sky. When Kaqi saw the sky, her first reaction was to scream. Ji Yueyao felt that her ears were still hurting from that sound.

The sky stared intently at the termites, its gaze strangely eerie.

Ji Yueyao tilted her head to look at the termites and suddenly said, "How can you think I look creepy when I'm such a noble and beautiful super-powerful superhuman? Do you have something wrong with your eyes?"

The termite was taken aback for a moment, then realized that Ji Yueyao was translating what the sky was saying. It gave an awkward laugh, then glanced at the sky again. Tsk, it was still rather creepy. "Ahem, I was wrong, okay?"

"Termite, did you hear anything?" Just as Termite was about to hear the sky's reply, Ji Yueyao narrowed her eyes and spoke coldly. Before Termite could react, she was about to open the car door and get out.

The termite was startled and quickly slammed on the brakes. He watched as Ji Yueyao jumped out of the passenger seat, his voice filled with resentment, "Captain, if you're going to get out, just say so... give me some time to prepare." That sudden movement had really scared him so much he almost trembled.

Ji Yueyao did not answer Bai Yi's question. She frowned, walked to the back of their SUV, looked around warily, and then lay down to look under the car.

"Team... Captain, hehehehehehe." Zhu Mu's hands were gripping the chassis of the car, his face covered in dust. When he saw Ji Yueyao, he grinned and kept smiling. His white teeth were particularly glaring against his scratched and dusty face.

Ji Yueyao glared at the bamboo and wood that crawled out from under the car, then quickly got into the car. "White Ant, drive."

"Hey, Captain, wait for me!" Zhu Mu panicked and quickly crawled out from under the car and jumped on. As soon as he jumped on, all the mud and dust on his body went to Kachi, who was sitting next to him. Kachi's homesickness was abruptly interrupted. Looking at the dust flying on the seat, she raised her foot to step on it, but it didn't budge.

"Gently, gently..." Zhu Mu's face contorted, looking like a goofy person who had been stepped on quite hard. "This kick of yours is going to make me infertile."

Kachi gritted her teeth, feeling a deep sense of malice at the thickness of the bamboo bark.

"Zhu Mu, what are you doing here?" Ji Yueyao suddenly spoke, her seemingly calm voice carrying an eerie sense of oppression in Zhu Mu's ears. Zhu Mu wiped the dirt off his face and smiled somewhat awkwardly, "Captain, I just wanted to go with you."

Ji Yueyao didn't reply. In fact, although she had saved Zhu Mu, she still had some doubts about his loyalty. Now he was so eager to follow her... Ji Yueyao stared straight ahead, her eyes somewhat complicated. She opened her mouth, but said nothing.

Seeing that Ji Yueyao didn't speak, Zhu Mu assumed she was angry and quickly explained, "Captain, actually I've always wanted to join a force where I can constantly improve myself, so I..." (To be continued.)
