"Grandpa, we're back!" After walking for about ten minutes, Ji Yueyao suddenly heard the clear voice of the boy walking at the front. She stopped and her view opened up in that instant.
It looks like an ordinary room, but it is very clean and tidy. Everything is arranged in an orderly manner, and it gives people a comfortable feeling at first glance.
It was obvious that the owner of this room was a very capable person. Ji Yueyao raised her eyes and focused her gaze on a slightly gray-haired man sitting at the desk. This man should be the grandfather the boy had mentioned.
"Aqi, why are you back so early today?" The man the boy called "Grandpa" glanced at the boy, then fixed his gaze on Ji Yueyao. "Who are you?"
“She’s the suspicious person we caught today!” Archie pointed at Ji Yueyao, frowning as he said, “She said she was from the Beihuang Base and was going to the Donglin Base. How could a woman travel such a long distance? The more I thought about it, the more suspicious it seemed, so I brought her here.”
“I see.” The old man nodded, then looked up and stared directly at Ji Yueyao. His eyes gleamed with shrewdness, and his sharp aura almost pierced through Ji Yueyao. “Hello, I am the current administrator of Kagan City. You can call me Wei Yuan.”
"Hello." Ji Yueyao frowned almost imperceptibly. Does Kagan City still have any administrators? She clearly remembered that it should be an unmanaged area now... Could it be that some hidden forces have developed in Kagan City without outsiders knowing?
"Judging from your appearance, you're no more than twenty years old. Why would such a young girl travel all the way to the Donglin base?" Wei Yuan looked her up and down, his gaze lingering on Ruan Ruan beside Ji Yueyao. She seemed... somewhat familiar. "Hmm... and you're bringing this child with you."
“I can assure you I have no ulterior motives towards you. My only thought right now is to get to the Donglin base.” Ji Yueyao raised her guard, lowering her eyes to make her tone sound very calm. “I need one of your cars.”
"You're putting me in a difficult position..." Wei Yuan chuckled, then seemingly casually glanced at Ji Yueyao again, before suddenly pausing, something flashing in his shrewd eyes, too quick to be noticed by anyone, "You're going to the Donglin Base?"
Wei Yuan's sudden question made Ji Yueyao frown. Why did her reaction change so suddenly? Did this Wei Yuan know her?
“That’s right, I already said that before.” Ji Yueyao nodded.
"Take her there." Wei Yuan leaned back in his seat and turned slightly to Archie, who was standing beside him. "Archie, you take her there yourself."
Archie was clearly surprised by Wei Yuan's sudden change in attitude. He paused, then took a step forward in disbelief, "Grandpa?!"
"Do as I say." Wei Yuan calmly gave Aqi the order again. Aqi glanced at Ji Yueyao unwillingly, then snorted and walked out of the room.
Ji Yueyao looked at Aqi's retreating figure, then glanced at the bewildered teenagers around her, and after a moment of silence, asked Wei Yuan, "Do you know me?"
"I've heard of him, but never seen him," Wei Yuan said with a half-smile, turning his head to look out the window. "The second seat of the Nanxiao Base—Ji Yueyao, right?"
Ji Yueyao frowned, then nodded slightly, indicating that Wei Yuan was right.
Ruan Ruan clung to Ji Yueyao's arm, blinked her innocent big eyes under the cloak, and stretched out her arm and moved it slightly.
Ruan Ruan was fine when she was still, but as soon as she moved, Wei Yuan, who was sitting in front of her, immediately noticed the little bundle in her arms. Wei Yuan frowned, looked at the child hiding in the shadows, and said calmly, "Why is this child hiding himself under his cloak?"
"..." Ji Yueyao paused for a moment. Could she say that the soft girl in her arms had unusual hair and eye color?
Obviously not.
Seeing Wei Yuan's curious expression, Ji Yueyao could only silently curse in her heart.
"This child has some skin problems and can't be exposed to light," Ji Yueyao said calmly, taking a step back to prevent Wei Yuan from touching the soft baby in her arms.
"Can't be exposed to light?" Wei Yuan frowned, but didn't touch the soft flesh in Ji Yueyao's arms again. He withdrew his hand and said softly, seemingly casually, "Is he your child?"
Why ask this? Ji Yueyao glanced at Wei Yuan, then nodded. Ruan Ruan was a gift from the sky. Although she wasn't exactly her child, she couldn't very well say that someone else had given her to her.
"Crack—" A crack appeared in the fountain pen in Wei Yuan's hand. He looked at it and said with some distress, "It can't be used again."
Ji Yueyao narrowed her eyes. If Wei Yuan could crack a fountain pen by squeezing it, then he must also be a superhuman.
"Grandpa, the car is ready. We can take this woman to the Donglin base soon." Just then, Archie walked in a few steps, not even glancing at Ji Yueyao, and said directly to Wei Yuan.
“Then let’s set off immediately, Archie, protect her.” Wei Yuan nodded, then lowered his head and opened a book. Because he was backlit, Ji Yueyao couldn’t even see Wei Yuan’s expression.
Archie nodded reluctantly, glancing at Ji Yueyao without making it obvious. To be honest, he really couldn't understand why Wei Yuan was so nice to this woman, even though they didn't seem to know each other at all!

Another hiatus without a word! I'm kneeling on the keyboard in shame... Writing really requires willpower to stick with. As soon as I got on vacation, I went crazy everywhere and neglected this important task of writing. Yesterday, I accidentally read an article and realized how incredibly lazy I've been—qaq I'll keep trying!
