Chapter Eleven: Starting a New Job

"Because it's simple?" That was the only answer Ji Yueyao could think of.

“That’s only one of the reasons,” Kachi shook her head. “Another reason is that the points earned from those missions are too few, not enough for our daily expenses. You know, the people here have huge appetites.”

"You have a big appetite? Aren't two packs of biscuits enough?" Ji Yueyao was completely stunned.

"Are you kidding me?" Kachi was genuinely exasperated. She bent down and took a bag of cookies from her bed. "This is a bag of cookies."

"..." Ji Yueyao was speechless as she looked at the bag containing about ten biscuits, each only half the size of her palm. So this was a whole bag? Wouldn't she starve to death?

"I bet you haven't eaten yet. Here, have a bag." Kaqi looked at Ji Yueyao's silly face and couldn't bear it, so she tossed her a bag of cookies. "Since you've already accepted the mission, just let it be. You can't back out of a mission once you've accepted it."

Are you trying to comfort me? Ji Yueyao thought to herself. It seems that simply calculating won't work when it comes to earning points; you have to combine it with real-life experiences.

"Do you have enough food?" Ji Yueyao asked Kaqi hesitantly, looking at the cookies in her hand.

Kachi nodded, looked up and took a few sips of water, and said, "Didn't I say that I'm a reserve member of the third team in the living department? Although I'm just a reserve member, we get enough food and water every day."

"That's good?" Ji Yueyao felt more and more that the task she had taken on was a complete disaster.

"It's not that great. Although I don't have to worry about making a living, I have to work like a slave for those regular team members every day. They don't treat you like a human being at all." Kachi shook her head and sat down on her bed.

"Then you can become a regular team member too?" Ji Yueyao was also a little tired, so she picked up a biscuit and ate it.

“Becoming a regular team member isn’t that easy.” Kaqi sighed, feeling that Ji Yueyao was simply from a different world. “To become a regular team member, you have to contribute 100 points to your department. You know, it’s already very difficult for people like us to earn points, let alone contribute them to higher levels.”

100 points? Ji Yueyao swallowed hard. How many of these tasks would she need to accumulate enough points for the one she was currently working on?

Kachi paused, speechless when she saw Ji Yueyao's bewildered expression. "But you have no hope for the next few months. Even if you become a reserve member, you'll have to hand over 20 points, and you'll only get 5 points after completing your tasks for the next five months."

"..." Ji Yueyao looked like he was about to die.

"Never mind, go get some rest. I have some things to do tomorrow." Kachi sighed and lay back down on her bed.

Ji Yueyao had no choice but to climb up. When she saw the empty second bed, she was stunned. "Hasn't Wu Qianqian come back yet?"

"She works at a bar now, probably out hooking up with men again," Kachi said dismissively.

Ji Yueyao didn't ask how working at the bar was. To her, just hearing the words "hooking up men" was enough to make her speechless. She should just rest well; she had to go to work tomorrow.

Ji Yueyao took out the photo from her wallet and carefully held it to her chest. "Mom and Dad, my first day living earnestly in this world has passed. Things will definitely get better from now on."

Ji Yueyao woke up very early the next day. She didn't know why she always felt a little tired in this world. She opened her eyes with difficulty and looked at the sunlight shining through the crack in the door. She stretched and decided to get up. She remembered that Kaqi said it was her turn to pour the water for washing her face today.

As I climbed down from the bed, I found that the second bunk was still empty. Had Wu Qianqian not come back all night?

Kachi had also woken up and was getting ready to get out of bed.

"You woke up early today." Kachi yawned, then started making the bed.

"Where should I pour the water for washing my face?" Ji Yueyao picked up the basin in the corner and turned to ask Kaqi.

“It’s on the first floor.” Kachi opened the door and pointed downstairs. “See that faucet over there? It’s right there.”

Ji Yueyao glanced downstairs, then walked downstairs. "I understand."

She came up in no time, carrying a full basin of water. She had climbed eleven floors in one go and almost died of exhaustion.

"Are you alright?" Kachi was speechless at her panting appearance. Was her constitution too weak?

"It's nothing." Ji Yueyao shook her head. After washing their faces, the two hurriedly ate breakfast. Kaqi took a sip of water and left. Of course, she still reminded Ji Yueyao to lock the door before leaving.

Watching Kaqi stride away, Ji Yueyao turned back to look at her room with some confusion. Wu Qianqian hadn't come back all night; didn't Kaqi care at all? She hadn't mentioned it once.

With a sigh, Ji Yueyao locked the door and headed towards the west district. Forget it, she didn't have the mind to think about these things now; getting to work was the priority.

Ji Yueyao walked briskly for more than an hour before finally reaching the West District. Standing at the entrance of the West District villa area, she let out a long sigh of relief. The number of people here in the morning was simply frightening; from a high vantage point, all you could probably see was a bunch of heads.

"You've arrived." The guard who had registered her for the mission yesterday spotted Ji Yueyao immediately, turned around, and opened the door. She had indeed left a deep impression on him yesterday.

"The owner of this place has left the base to carry out a mission. You just need to clean the room with her. The cleaning supplies are at the door." The guard led Ji Yueyao into Building No. 1, and only then did Ji Yueyao notice that there was a girl about her age in the house.

The two guards nodded before preparing to leave. "Be careful not to damage anything inside. Oh, and my name is Lin Xuan. If you need to take leave, just let me know."

"Understood." Ji Yueyao and the girl beside her both nodded.

Lin Xuan then quickly left, leaving the two girls in the house looking at each other in bewilderment.

"Hello, my name is Liang Sisi, you can call me Sisi." The girl, Liang Sisi, spoke first, with a very sweet smile.

Ji Yueyao responded somewhat casually, "Hello, my name is Ji Yueyao."

It seems the other person isn't too difficult to get along with.

"Ji Yueyao?" Liang Sisi nodded, brought in two brooms from the doorway, and handed one to Ji Yueyao. "May I call you Yueyao?"

“Okay.” Ji Yueyao nodded.

The two then began cleaning. It must be said that the house was really clean. They cleaned easily and chatted from time to time.

"Yueyao, why did you take this mission? Most people wouldn't take it, right?" Liang Sisi wiped the handrail by the door and turned to ask Ji Yueyao.

"What a surprise! What about you?" Ji Yueyao was definitely too embarrassed to say that she only accepted the mission because she thought it was incredibly lucrative.
