Chapter Fifty-Nine: Belief

“Of course,” Xu Lingnan said with a light laugh.

Just as everyone in the hall was chatting and laughing, Ji Yueyao suddenly opened the door and came out.

"By the way," Ji Yueyao walked over to Xu Lingnan and asked, "the location where we're carrying out this mission isn't far, but it's not exactly close either. Should we ask Yu Tianfang to drive?"

Everyone was taken aback by his words. Xu Lingnan lowered his eyes and thought for a moment before saying, "Let's walk. It will only take us about a day to walk, so we don't need to drive."

“That’s true.” Ji Yueyao nodded. Then there’s no need to call Yu Tianfang.

Two days later, Ji Yueyao packed her things and set off with Xu Lingnan. Because it was a small mission, not many people knew about it, but those who were closely watching Ji Yueyao's every move were naturally aware of it.

At this moment, Ji Tiehan looked at Ji Yueyao's back, pursed his lips, and turned around to prepare for the report. That person probably couldn't wait any longer.

"Ji Yueyao is gone?" Upon hearing the report from the guards below, Zhong Ran leaned back on the sofa and laughed happily. Zhong Jue, standing beside Zhong Ran, also smiled.

"Dad, now the search department is truly as you wished, completely devoid of women." Zhong Jue looked up and gestured for the person reporting to leave, then casually sat down to the side and enthusiastically lit a cigarette.

Cigarettes are becoming increasingly scarce; the father and son only managed to get one pack this month.

Zhong Ran glanced at his son and nodded with satisfaction, "Then the members of the tenth squad..."

"Dad, don't worry. I'll tell them that Ji Yueyao was killed by a group of monsters, and someone from their tenth squad will take over." Zhong Jue stretched and continued to smoke. "As for the woman in that squad... Mu Liu said he seems to know her. We'll leave it to Mu Liu to handle."

Zhong Ran also picked up a cigarette, lit it, took a deep drag, and then narrowed his already slit-like eyes. "But you keep using the excuse of being an outcast. Won't people...?"

"So what if they suspect us?" Zhong Jue interrupted Zhong Ran with a cold laugh. "Can they produce evidence that we did it? Dad, look, we were the ones who took care of that woman Mu Liu originally had. So what if they suspect us?"

“That’s true.” Zhong Ran was completely satisfied now. He stood up and patted Zhong Jue on the shoulder, saying, “Jue’er, I’ve already chosen the daughter of the leader of the invasion department for you. Go see her when you have time, and settle things as soon as possible.”

Zhong Jue seemed to have no objection, simply nodding and saying softly, "I will follow your arrangements, Dad."

After talking with Zhong Ran, Zhong Jue leisurely walked out of the search department headquarters. After looking around to make sure there were no acquaintances, he calmly walked towards his private villa in the western district.

"Ah Ying, have you missed me?" Zhong Jue chuckled as he opened the basement door and slowly walked downstairs carrying a plate of food.

At the far end of the basement, Qiao Ying, who had already been pronounced dead, was bound naked to an iron pillar. Her fair skin was covered with wounds of all sizes, and blood dripped from her bound wrists, staining the ropes binding her red.

"Ah Ying, I brought some food." Zhong Juejiang placed the food in front of Qiao Ying and gently picked up a spoon to feed her.

Qiao Ying bit her lower lip tightly and suddenly turned her head away.

"Ah Ying, don't let me get tired of you. I've always loved the obedient and dependent you." Zhong Jue raised his hand and slapped Qiao Ying across the face, then pulled over a stool and sat down. He had originally planned to kill Qiao Ying, but... the thought of this woman who treated him like a god dying like this still made him somewhat reluctant.

So... he simply captured her alive. He had no choice; he always thought the women in bars were dirty, so he had to make do with Qiao Ying for now. When he got married, this woman... should be disposed of.

"What did you do to Ji Yueyao!" Qiao Ying suddenly looked up at Zhong Jue Li and asked.

"She's dying." Zhong Jue shrugged, looking down on Ji Yueyao, that little girl with no breasts or buttocks. "Alright, let's not talk about this anymore."

With a cruel grin, he reached out and lifted Qiao Ying's face, biting her lips hard. Then he leaned in and pressed his entire body against the helpless woman.

"Bastard..." Qiao Ying twisted her body and struggled weakly, tears of pain and despair streaming down her face. Bastard, beast, why did she ever fall for such a beast?

One day... one day she will definitely tear Zhong Jue to pieces!

"Captain?" Xu Lingnan patted Ji Yueyao, who was lost in thought. "What's wrong?"

Ji Yueyao blinked, withdrew her gaze from the Xiyu base, and continued walking forward.

"I just have a bad feeling about it."

Xu Lingnan's expression changed slightly. He glanced at Ji Yueyao hurriedly before looking away, gritted his teeth, and followed behind Ji Yueyao without saying a word.

"From now on, we just need to keep going straight." Ji Yueyao looked at the map and then at the compass in her hand. "Xu Lingnan, let's walk faster and try to get back as soon as possible."

"Mm." Xu Lingnan nodded and followed closely. On the way, Xu Lingnan would occasionally look up and stare at Ji Yueyao's back, his eyes filled with a dark, fog-like gaze.

"Xu Lingnan, I feel like you're acting strange." Ji Yueyao suddenly spoke up as she walked ahead. Xu Lingnan's expression changed instantly. He carefully distanced himself from Ji Yueyao and then reached into his pocket.

"Why are you suddenly saying that?" Xu Lingnan looked up and stared at the back of Ji Yueyao's head, speaking softly.

"Well... I just feel like you're different than before. Hmm... is something bothering you?" Ji Yueyao turned around, gesturing for Xu Lingnan to hurry up. She was feeling a bit stressed about life, so could something be wrong at Xu Lingnan's home?

Xu Lingnan paused, looked down at Ji Yueyao's profile, and finally turned his head away, "Captain..."

"Hmm?" Ji Yueyao looked up at Xu Lingnan's face, only to find that his face was expressionless as usual.

"It's nothing... I'm just a little worried about Ya Jun." Xu Lingnan scratched his head and said lightly, his eyes involuntarily tilting to the side, unwilling to look directly at Ji Yueyao.

"I see..." Ji Yueyao patted Xu Lingnan's arm and walked forward, her voice ringing in Xu Lingnan's mind without missing a single word, "Don't worry, we have Kaqi here. There's no one in Xiyu Base that she can't find. Hmm... I promise, when I get back to Xiyu Base, I'll make sure you see a perfectly fine Xu Yajun. You have to trust Kaqi."

Xu Lingnan watched Ji Yueyao's figure, nodded silently, but clenched his fists tightly.
