Chapter Nine: In-Process Integration

Seeing the words "Points Terminal" on the device's screen, Ji Yueyao felt that she had come to the right place. It seemed that although this era was the end of the world, the technology was not that backward.

She put her ID card into the card slot next to her, and the points terminal immediately displayed her identity and points balance. However, when she saw that her resume was empty and her points were 0, Ji Yueyao sighed in disappointment. She had to find a way to earn points, otherwise she would go hungry today.

But to be honest, she never imagined that at her age she would have to worry about not having enough to eat.

Scratching his head, Ji Yueyao reached out and pressed the points redemption menu next to him. The screen flickered and then switched to another page, where rows of items, like those on a shelf, popped up.

He raised his hand and opened the directory of his life, and saw the words "3 packs of biscuits 1 point" and "400ml of drinking water 1 point" displayed at the top. The points increased as he scrolled down. Ji Yueyao scrolled down and found that the redeemable items were all sorts of odds and ends.

When Ji Yueyao saw the words "5 points for one tomato", she couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. Looking at it this way, three packs of biscuits only cost 1 point, which is quite cheap.

In her mind, three packs of biscuits were far more than one tomato.

After taking out her ID card, Ji Yueyao watched as everything on the screen disappeared before turning around and leaving the points terminal.

The crowds outside were still huge. Ji Yueyao couldn't understand why it took so long to compete for just a few tasks on the task board.

I glanced at the "a" and "b" task boards next to me. As expected, there were only a few people scattered around. The task boards were divided into two extremes by the "c" board on the left and right sides.

What should she do today? She doesn't have the skills to accept the AB board, and she can't get the D board. Is she going to go hungry today?!

She was fine as long as she didn't want to go hungry, but the thought of it made her feel terrible. Since yesterday morning, she had only eaten one meal, breakfast, and now she was almost out of water and her stomach was churning with acid.

She didn't consider herself a model youth, but she was still a well-behaved and kind-hearted flower of the motherland. What sins had she committed to be brought into this world inexplicably?

Ji Yueyao sighed and decided to try her luck on board C. She couldn't really starve to death here. She had thought about what it would feel like to die before. When she thought about losing consciousness and disappearing without feeling, she shuddered. She didn't want to die!

After rubbing his stomach, he walked weakly toward board C. There weren't many people on board C, and there were several tasks posted on it.

"There aren't any good missions on the C board this time." A woman with curly hair looked at the missions on the C board, sighed wearily, and turned to leave.

Ji Yueyao's heart skipped a beat. She gritted her teeth and looked up at the task board.

Looking around, she found that most of the tasks were about moving sand and gravel or building structures. Looking down at her thin arms and legs, Ji Yueyao sighed deeply. If she took on these tasks, would she be moving sand and gravel or would the sand and gravel be moving her?

One last glance, and she finally spotted a task that piqued her interest—"Long-term task: Clean floor one in the West Wing for five months, with two packs of biscuits and 400ml of drinking water provided daily, for a total of 5 points."

"Only 5 points in total?" Ji Yueyao frowned. She felt she could handle the cleaning, but most of the tasks on the C board were worth 30 or 40 points. Was 5 points a bit too little?

Could it be because they provide food and water every day?

Ji Yueyao calculated: 400ml of drinking water is 1 point, three packs of biscuits is 1 point, which means three days is two points, one month is thirty days, and five months is one hundred and fifty days. So, by this calculation, she can get 255 points for this task!

This is a huge profit!

Ji Yueyao was satisfied and tore off the cleaning assignment, completely ignoring the strange looks from those around her.

Next, simply submit the task to the points management office for confirmation, as required on the task board.

"Ugh, it's hilarious to see all these people scrambling for low-level tasks every day!" Just as Ji Yueyao was about to walk into the points management office, a man walked past her with a mocking smile, then went to board B and tore off a task.

The man was wearing a casual tracksuit, with a small knife conspicuously hanging from his left hip, the hilt adorned with a striking dark purple gem. Ji Yueyao vaguely remembered this tracksuit and knife when she searched the points redemption area earlier; the tracksuit was worth about 260 points, and the knife seemed to be... 400 points.

"It's disgusting." After receiving the task, the man turned and walked into the points management office, spitting at the people still scrambling for tasks on the task board, his contempt evident.

Ji Yueyao stood there, looking at the man's back, her heart filled with complicated emotions. The man's disdainful smile had had a great impact on her.

Looking at the task in her hand, Ji Yueyao couldn't quite describe how she felt.

It seems like... he's unwilling to accept it.

After confirming the task with the points management office, Ji Yueyao looked at the new card around her neck, then walked out, as if she needed to hand the card over to the manager at the task location first.

Building No. 1 in the West District? Ji Yueyao unfolded the map, determined the direction, and strode over. Although she was very hungry, perhaps because she had just arrived, she was not very tired.

After walking for more than an hour, Ji Yueyao finally arrived at the place shown on the map. Looking at the luxurious villa in front of her, she couldn't help but open her mouth wide.

This...this is totally not a style of art!

Actually, she had noticed while walking that the scenery got better the further west she went. But compared to the slums where she lived, this place was no different from her old world!

Do places like this exist even in the apocalypse?

Ji Yueyao suddenly remembered that Qing Zhang seemed to have said that it had been more than a hundred years since the end of the world broke out, and it seemed that things had developed to this point in more than a hundred years.

"Who are you?" The gatekeeper saw Ji Yueyao trying to enter the villa area and stepped forward to stop him.

"I'm here to do a mission." Ji Yueyao thought for a moment and then took out her mission card. She originally wanted to take out her identity card, but after remembering what Kaqi said, she decisively took out the mission card instead.
