Chapter Sixty-Six: The Decision Has Been Made

"I've finally found you! I'm so glad you're alright!" Kachi said in a muffled voice, hugging Ji Yueyao tightly.

Ji Yueyao reached out and patted Kaqi's back to comfort her. Just then, Lin Xuan jumped out of the car. Ji Yueyao watched him stride over and asked, "Um... how did you know I was in trouble?"

"Kachi said so." Lin Xuan breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that Ji Yueyao was safe and sound. Heaven knows he would have been really worried to death if he hadn't been able to find Ji Yueyao. "Kachi said that Zhong Jue used Xu Yajun to threaten Xu Lingnan, which would be detrimental to you."

Just as Xu Lingnan said... Ji Yueyao patted Kaqi on the back, just wanting Kaqi to explain the details, when Mu Yanxuan stepped in front of her and then roughly grabbed her arm.

"Your wrist is injured," Mu Yanxuan said in a low voice, a hint of anger in it. "Why didn't you say anything last night?"

"Didn't we just rest yesterday..." Ji Yueyao felt a little uncomfortable under Kaqi's teasing gaze. She tried to pull her hand back, but couldn't.

Mu Yanxuan frowned as he looked at the gruesome wound on Ji Yueyao's wrist. He then turned around, took the medical kit from the car, found the medicine, and began to disinfect Ji Yueyao's wound.

Yesterday, he only noticed the gunshot wound on her thigh, and only after treating it a second time did he feel relieved enough to let Ji Yueyao rest. However, because it was hidden by her sleeve, he didn't notice the wound on Ji Yueyao's wrist. He only discovered the wound when he saw Ji Yueyao patting Kaqi's back just now.

The thought that he had allowed Ji Yueyao to have such a serious wound for a whole night made him feel very uncomfortable.

"It's not serious..." Ji Yueyao obediently stopped struggling, but she was slightly lost in thought as she watched Mu Yanxuan carefully disinfecting her wound with his head down.

Mu Yanxuan appeared normal on the surface, but the soft touch in his hand made him feel as if he had been electrocuted, with current coursing through his body. Mu Yanxuan took a deep breath, his eyes filled with a tenderness he had never shown before.

Kaqi was quite surprised by Mu Yanxuan's attitude towards Ji Yueyao, but she didn't show it on her face. However, Lin Xuan felt an inexplicable fire rise in his heart. Looking at Ji Yueyao's absent-minded face, he felt very unhappy.

"Captain," Lin Xuan suddenly said, "Yao Lin didn't come with us."

Ji Yueyao was stunned for a moment, and when she realized that Yao Lin was nowhere to be seen, she turned to look at Lin Xuan and asked, "What do you mean? Did something happen to him?"

Lin Xuan shook his head. "He just didn't want to come with us."

Mu Yanxuan glanced at Lin Xuan, clearly displeased that he had diverted Ji Yueyao's attention. His lowered eyelids concealed the cold gloom in his eyes.

Seeing the look of doubt on Ji Yueyao's face, Kaqi sighed and began to recount everything that had happened before they found her.

"You mean Yao Lin has decided to join the Zhongjue faction?" Ji Yueyao was surprisingly calm. She glanced at Kaqi and Lin Xuan, her expression somewhat complicated. "That's a good choice. Why don't you choose to stay at the Xiyu base? You know, I might not even be able to find a place to live right now."

“We won’t leave our captain,” Lin Xuan smiled. “Because Wei Kang is still at the Xiyu base, and I believe we will go back someday. Besides… we don’t have any special ties to the Xiyu base.”

Ji Yueyao blinked, raised her hand, looked at her slender fingertips, and smiled slightly, but the smile looked cold no matter how you looked at it. "I'm sorry to have wronged you, but you're right, we will have to go back one day. As for Yao Lin... since he chose to join Zhong Jue, then we can no longer be considered partners."

Does this mean she's severing ties with Yao Lin? Kachi paused, deep in thought.

Wei Kang? Mu Yanxuan's face darkened upon hearing this name. It had been mentioned in the report, and he seemed to be Ji Yueyao's closest partner. But was Wei Kang really that important to her? She was actually going back to the Xiyu base for him.

Mu Yanxuan became increasingly annoyed. Fine, after bandaging Ji Yueyao's wound, he simply stood there motionless. After all, he had to keep an eye on his own woman.

"By the way, how did you meet him?" Ji Yueyao suddenly remembered this and pointed at Mu Yanxuan.

"We saw him speeding across the wasteland as soon as we left the Xiyu base." Kaqi smiled mischievously, leaning down to whisper in Ji Yueyao's ear, "He was really flooring the gas pedal. After he saw us, he stopped and told us, 'Wait for my men,' then left us there and sped off again. You have no idea how confused Lin Xuan and I were at the time. If Mu Yanxuan's men hadn't told us later that he was going to find you, we probably still wouldn't know anything."

At this point, Kaqi glanced up and noticed that Ji Yueyao's ears were a little red. She then sneered twice and continued, "Tell me honestly, what's your relationship?"

Ji Yueyao pouted, expressing her dissatisfaction with Kaqi's gossip, "What kind of relationship could we have? We've only met once... ah, this is the second time."

Kaqi and Ji Yueyao were speaking very softly, but Mu Yanxuan's senses were far beyond those of ordinary people, and he heard every single word of their conversation. Mu Yanxuan's face immediately flushed, and he glanced down at Ji Yueyao, but unfortunately, Ji Yueyao was engrossed in her conversation and didn't notice.

"Ji Yueyao." Mu Yanxuan was displeased when he saw that Ji Yueyao had decisively ignored him, and his tone was strange.

Ji Yueyao then raised her head. "What's wrong? Oh right... I haven't thanked you yet. Thank you for bringing Lin Xuan and the others to find me."

"Oh." Mu Yanxuan replied perfunctorily. He should have known better than to stop and say that. He was originally just worried that Ji Yueyao would be sad if something happened to Ji Yueyao's companions. Now he just felt that these companions were really too much of an eyesore!

"Where are you planning to go next?" Mu Yanxuan asked, seeing that Ji Yueyao seemed to be talking to Kaqi and the others and ignoring him. "I'll take you."

Where is she going? Ji Yueyao raised her hand and gently touched her chin, chuckled, and said, "I plan to go to the Nanxiao base."

"Nanxiao Base?" Kachi and Lin Xuan exchanged a glance, somewhat surprised, and asked, "Why go to Nanxiao Base?"

Ji Yueyao seemed to have anticipated their reaction and raised her hand to signal them to calm down. "Nanxiao Base is the most chaotic of the four major bases. There, absolute power reigns supreme. If we want to gain enough strength to contend with Zhong Jue and the others, we must rely on the power of Nanxiao Base. That place... is the easiest place to gain status."

Is that so...? Kachi and Lin Xuan agreed, but to have enough power to fight against the Xiyu base, even if the Nanxiao base is in chaos, it's really too difficult for their captain to do it, right? It's almost impossible.

Could it be that the captain intends to rely on Mu Yanxuan's power? Kaqi secretly speculated. Lin Xuan shared the same idea as Kaqi, and his face immediately darkened when he thought of this.

What they don't know yet is that Ji Yueyao's confidence comes from her own strength, not from anyone else, but from herself.
