Chapter 40 The Custody Battle
"I heard you two are about to go to jail?"
Qiao Shuishui carried a plate and put meatballs into the pot, watching Song Shiwei and Chi Yanzhou beside her.
Director Dong is known for his strict standards. Before each shoot, he requires all the actors in the crew to undergo a period of closed training in order to achieve a better effect on the big screen.
"Pretty much. I can only take leave when I have other work to do."
This wasn't Chi Yen-chou's first time acting in a play directed by Tung, so he had experience.
"With this kind of system, I should bring a few 'Three Years of College Entrance Examination and Five Years of Simulation' books with me, and then I can take the exam when I come out."
Song Shiwei is drinking coconut juice through a straw.
She doesn't dislike this model; on the contrary, she appreciates it.
If it allows the work to be presented in a better way, then even a long training period is worthwhile.
"Brother Cheng, is your group planning a concert?"
"Yes, it's being planned. If preparations go quickly, it will be around National Day." Cheng Yi's expression remained aloof, but his posture showed that he was very relaxed.
"Remember to save us a few tickets, I'd even be a guest performer," Song Shiwei said shamelessly.
"If you want to ruin Cheng Yi's concert, just say so."
Chi Yanzhou couldn't help but complain. He still remembered Song Shiwei's occasional bursts of singing in "Together Towards Happiness," which were truly deadly.
"My voice is as melodious as a lark's, what's wrong with that?"
“Weiwei, I can admit to praising other things about yourself even if it goes against my conscience, but if you can’t sing, it’s to the point where you could be arrested.” Qiao Shuishui wholeheartedly agreed.
"I don't believe you, Brother Cheng. Tell me, how's my singing?"
Cheng Yi seemed to be facing the most difficult moment of his life. He frowned and thought hard, finally managing to utter a sentence after a long while—
"It sounds awful."
Hahahaha—
"I'm not talking to you anymore. You're just jealous that I'm too perfect. You'd be better off just being free."
Bai Yining: "But Sister Weiwei, your singing really wasn't good."
“........”
Chi Yanzhou was about to start filming, so he didn't eat much. He stood up and walked towards the doghouse in the living room.
"Song Shiwei, are you really going to let my son sleep in such a small room?!"
The dog Fugui's kennel was bought online by Song Shiwei. It was a small house of nearly four square meters, and it was labeled "Dog Fugui's Home".
Inside, there was a soft coffee-colored cushion and a milky-white blanket, and several small toys in the nest.
Even the bowls used for eating and drinking in front of the door were the most beautiful ones that Song Shiwei bought.
"How old is Dog Fugui? Aren't you afraid it will get lost if it moves in?"
Song Shiwei walked over with a bowl in her hand. "You're still not satisfied with this house? What more could you want?"
"My son should live in a large, single-level apartment, complete with a running track-style restaurant and bathroom!"
Chi Yanzhou held Fugui with heartache, as if a pampered princess had moved into a slum.
"You can't spoil your child. What if he develops a spoiled and extravagant lifestyle? Do you know how many children like Fugui are still homeless?"
Chi Yanzhou was about to retort when Song Shiwei pointed at him, refusing his argument.
"Stop talking. You can't have the child, but you can give more child support."
"It seems like they are fighting for custody of their children after their divorce."
Qiao Shuishui hugged her legs, drank her cola, and offered her insightful commentary.
"It's very similar; they argue endlessly about their children's education," Bai Yining agreed.
Dog Fugui whimpered twice in Chi Yanzhou's arms, blinking its dark, moist eyes.
Driven by his own conscience, Chi Yanzhou's father immediately took out his phone and bought his son a six-figure house online.
The crew of "Novoland: The Moon" is preparing to start filming. Chi Yanzhou and Song Shiwei arrived at the set a day early, and Gou Fugui was left in the care of Qiao Shuishui, who has been staying in Beijing recently.
On the day filming began, Song Shiwei unexpectedly saw Xia Zhiqing.
She and Xia Zhiqing were competing for the same role. She was chosen, so why did Xia Zhiqing come?
"Hmph! Don't think you're so great just because you acted in Director Dong's film. There are plenty of people in the crew you can't mess with!"
Xia Zhiqing crossed her arms and glanced at people out of the corner of her eye. Her assistant, carrying large and small bags, almost overwhelmed her.
"It's not that impressive, considering someone like you can get in."
"you!"
Xia Zhiqing rolled her eyes and looked at Song Shiwei with disdain, "Let me tell you, don't think you're safe just because you're on set. If you're not good enough, the director will kick you out!"
"Then you need to be even more careful, lest you just take a day trip to the film set."
Song Shiwei looked at Xia Zhiqing with a mocking expression.
After filming began, many reporters were already waiting to come and interview, especially those playing important roles like Chi Yanzhou.
"Ms. Chi, what are your thoughts on working with Director Dong again?"
Chi Yanzhou tried to run away but failed. He was stopped by Xia Zhiqing, who came over to say hello, and that's when the reporter seized the opportunity.
He frowned, looking impatient. "My impression is that Director Dong and I both have good taste."
"Is this role a breakthrough compared to your previous ones?"
"Go to the cinema and see for yourself. Whether it's a breakthrough or not is up to you entertainment reporters to decide."
As Chi Yanzhou spoke, he handed the microphone to Xia Zhiqing, who was sitting next to him beaming with delight.
"I have other things to do. You should ask other people; they're probably more interesting to talk about."
The reporter noticed that Xia Zhiqing, seemingly used to her gentle and innocent demeanor, unconsciously raised her voice when asking questions.
"Teacher Xia, your name wasn't on the previous cast list, so why are you here today for the start of filming?"
"Director Dong approached me, saying there was a role that was perfect for me. I was very surprised and grateful to Director Dong for giving me this opportunity."
Xia Zhiqing smiled broadly, her eyes fixed on the camera.
"Director Dong rarely contacts artists on his own initiative. It seems that your abilities have earned Director Dong's recognition."
"No, maybe it's just that this role suits me well."
"Then, may I ask what role you play?"
Xia Zhiqing's smile froze when she was asked the question; she still didn't know what role it was.
She was the one who insisted on joining the cast of "Novoland: The Moon" at home, saying that she absolutely could not be outdone by Song Shiwei.
Her two older brothers had to use all their connections and resources to finally finalize the deal for her, but they still don't know what roles they will play.
Xia Zhiqing immediately returned to normal, looking at the camera with a graceful and reserved smile.
"I'm sorry, it's not convenient to reveal too much right now."
After the interview, the crew held a large meeting. The huge conference room was full of people, and Director Dong stood at the front wearing a military green vest.
"Starting tomorrow, we will begin a two-month training program. No one is allowed to be absent, and everyone must strictly follow the training requirements."
I'll send you the training task plan in a bit. If you have any complaints, it's best to leave now.
Those who cannot complete the training tasks are not qualified to act in my play!
In my production team, there's no fighting over billing order. Every character is written with my heart, so don't try anything funny during filming!
After Director Dong finished speaking, he gave Xia Zhiqing a deep look.
