Chapter 61 Life is Bitterer Than Coffee

Chapter 61 Life is Bitterer Than Coffee

Song Shiwei blinked and then made a gesture reminiscent of a Qing Dynasty eunuch's sleeve-fastening ceremony.

"This old servant thanks you for your kindness, young master!"

“”

Chi Yanzhou leaned back in his seat expressionlessly, his voice flat with a hint of despair, and a suppressed urge to kill.

"Rise."

When the car arrived at the hotel, the doorman opened the door and took the car. Chi Yanzhou strode inside, with Song Shiwei following behind, carrying a bucket bag.

"Mr. Chi! Mr. Chi!"

A hurried yet obsequious voice came from the side, and Song Shiwei subconsciously frowned, feeling a familiar sense of nausea.

Turning my head, I saw the rich second-generation with thick bandages wrapped around his fingers standing in the hotel lobby with a fawning expression, his body slightly bowed, his eyes devoid of the arrogant disdain he once had.

Chi Yanzhou glanced casually at the scene, then looked away and continued walking forward. The rich second-generation's face stiffened, and he quickly jogged to catch up.

"Oh! Mr. Chi, Mr. Chi, I'm sorry, I have a sharp tongue and I was too impulsive just now. Please forgive me this time."

Chi Yanzhou remained expressionless and ignored him, while the rich second-generation was sweating profusely with anxiety.

"Hey! Who was it that said they wouldn't forgive us even if we knelt down? How come they're already slapping themselves in the face so quickly?" Song Shiwei said sarcastically from the side.

The rich kid's face stiffened. He carefully observed Chi Yanzhou's expression and cautiously explained, "I was just joking. Please don't take it seriously."

Are all your jokes so offensive?

Chi Yanzhou finally refrained from speaking, glancing sideways at the rich second-generation, "Keep up your stubbornness."

"No, no, Mr. Chi, it was my fault for being so blunt! You're right to reprimand me. I promise I'll never do it again. Please forgive me."

The rich kid kept slapping himself in the face as he spoke, bowing his head and trying to please her. When Song Shiwei saw him like this, she thought he looked more like a eunuch than she did.

"A real man admits fault over something so small! Weren't you so arrogant that your mother opened the door for you? What are you doing now?"

Song Shiwei continued to stir up trouble; she just couldn't stand seeing others do well.

"Mr. Chi, I was really wrong. Please forgive me. I will not complain no matter how you beat or scold me. Please let my family go."

The rich kid knelt down as he spoke, his face filled with sorrow.

He received a call from his father not long after he left the show.

As soon as the call connected, his father launched into a tirade, demanding to know exactly how he had offended the Chi family, and that someone from their family was already investigating.

In just twenty minutes, the company's stock plummeted, its taxes were investigated, and all the behind-the-scenes maneuvers were brought to light.

Their family was about to disappear from S City in an instant.

Only then did the rich second-generation realize that he had offended a big shot. He asked the production team for Chi Yanzhou's address and came to stake out the place, hoping to salvage some of the relationship.

Song Shiwei exaggeratedly took out her phone and started taking pictures of the rich second-generation.

"The Qing Dynasty is gone! What are you doing!"

"Mr. Chi, please spare our family, I was really wrong."

“I didn’t do anything. It’s your family that had problems that led to this situation. Instead of wasting your time, go and spend some last time with your father.”

"Mr. Chi, please have pity on me. You're so powerful, please don't hold it against me, be lenient and save my family."

The rich kid tried to grab Chi Yanzhou's pants to beg for mercy, but Chi Yanzhou dodged him and didn't even spare him a glance.

Are you trying to use moral blackmail?

Song Shiwei zoomed in, focusing the lens on the rich kid's ugly face. "Sorry, we have no morals, but we will represent justice and eliminate you!"

The elevator doors opened with a click, and Chi Yanzhou pulled Song Shiwei, who was still watching the show, into the elevator. The rich second-generation was anxious to get on, but was dragged away by the bodyguards who came.

As he left, he kept shouting, "Mr. Chi, please spare me!"

Anyone who didn't know better would think Chi Yanzhou was some arrogant and domineering local bully.

"Having gotten used to the arrogant attitude of rich kids, seeing him suddenly being so humble made me think he'd been possessed."

Song Shiwei put away her phone with a smug look on her face.

"He brought it on himself."

Chi Yanzhou spoke coldly, "They didn't even restrain themselves on the show, and in the end they even tried to attack them. Do they think he's a good person?"

"Young Master, that move of yours is absolutely amazing! I can't help but cheer for you!"

“You’ve been following me lately, and there are a lot of procedures to go through, so we can’t catch him for the time being. I’m worried that if he continues to break down during this period, he might do something bad,” Chi Yanzhou reminded him.

"Why did he arrest me for what I did?"

"He's not going to let you off the hook because we've gotten so close."

"???"

Song Shiwei immediately hugged Chi Yanzhou's leg tightly, "Young Master, you must protect me."

You know what, that idiot is really capable of doing that.

Once upstairs, they were exhausted from filming all day, so Chi Yanzhou didn't take Song Shiwei out to eat. He simply asked the hotel to bring the food up later.

Do you have any super rare and luxurious sea cucumber soup?

Song Shiwei was still thinking about the sea cucumber soup she hadn't been able to have last time, feeling like she had lost hundreds of millions.

Chi Yanzhou pursed his lips, his tone half helpless and half doting.

"Yes, I ordered one for you."

"Young Master, you are my god!"

"Oh, right."

Before entering the hotel, Chi Yanzhou suddenly told Song Shiwei, "I have a brand launch event tomorrow, you'll come with me."

"What would I do there? Carry your bags? No way! I finally get a day off, and you, you capitalist, are always trying to exploit me!"

"I'll introduce you to some bosses and resources."

"No need, I'm fine as I am. Don't make me work too hard, it'll exhaust me."

Song Shiwei adheres to the principle of "living it easy": "Enjoy life while you can, and have weekends off instead of working!"

Chi Yanzhou said with a serious expression, "No, you have to go!"

"Why should I?!"

"When I'm working hard, no one can slack off. That would be worse than killing me. You have to share my joys and sorrows."

"Look at what you're saying, is that even human language?"

Okay, that's a good reason.

Very stingy, very childish, very much like Chi Yanzhou.

"People shouldn't just focus on the present hardships; they should also look to poetry and distant places. Step out of your comfort zone, let me lie down in it, you go make money, and I'll go on vacation. Isn't that better?"

With an innocent smile, Chi Yanzhou walked up to Song Shiwei, patted her shoulder, and spoke through gritted teeth in a sinister tone.

"I don't care, if the young master wants you to go, you have to go."

"Huang Shiren, you'd better not go too far. You won't be able to wake me up from this fake-sleeping person tomorrow morning!"

"Then the sea cucumber soup for tonight is canceled."

"???"

Song Shiwei wore a "you're so vicious" expression on her face. For that bowl of sea cucumber soup worth several hundred dollars, Song Shiwei endured humiliation and compromised.

"I've actually wanted to see what it's like to work, young master. Thank you for giving me this opportunity."

"Good girl."

Chi Yanzhou patted Song Shiwei's head and returned to his room with satisfaction.

Song Shiwei gritted her teeth and drank the bowl of sea cucumber soup with tears in her eyes.

"Earning 1,500 a month, my life is more bitter than coffee!"

That despicable man, Chi Yanzhou!
