Zhou Yongfu and the other two walked into the house together. Old Mrs. Zhou had been waiting for Zhou Yunzhou to come. When she saw Zhou Yongfu bringing him here, she became a little excited.
"Don't panic, just tell Yunzhou if you have anything to say," Zhou Yongfu said calmly.
"Laowu, I'm sorry for you, I'm sorry for you," Old Mrs. Zhou repeated these words with tears in her weak breath.
Jiang Qingwu agreed to let Zhou Yunzhou come just to get an apology from Mrs. Zhou. Now that he has gotten it, Zhou Yunzhou has nothing to do with the Zhou family anymore.
"Yun Zhou is not your child, right?"
Jiang Qingwu asked this question without hesitation. She couldn't bear to see Zhou Yunzhou being kept in the dark forever and never knowing who his relatives were.
Old Lady Zhou didn't seem to expect Jiang Qingwu to ask this question, but when she didn't deny it, Zhou Yongfu, Zhou Yunzhou and Jiang Qingwu understood the answer to the question.
"If you really feel that you have let Yun Zhou down, then tell me where you brought Yun Zhou back from?"
Old Lady Zhou died before she could answer Jiang Qingwu's question, but her hand had been pointing at the cabinet by the wall.
Zhou Yongfu went over and opened the cabinet. There was a small locked box inside. Zhou Yongfu pried the lock open himself. Inside was a note and a longevity lock.
He gave the note and the longevity lock to Zhou Yunzhou. Zhou Yunzhou saw that the note contained an address in Beijing and the longevity lock had the words "Xingzhou" engraved on it. Jiang Qingwu guessed that the longevity lock should have been taken from Zhou Yunzhou and the two words might be his name.
The address on the note must be related to Zhou Yunzhou. When they return to Beijing during the New Year, they must check this place carefully.
Zhou Yunzhou and Jiang Qingwu put the note and the longevity lock into their pockets and walked out of the house. The Zhou family members were still fighting in the yard. The two of them didn't care about the fighting and went home with their son.
It took Jiang Qingwu a long time to feel better. The main reason was that the smell in Old Lady Zhou's room was too bad. The people in the Zhou family probably didn't take good care of her, so the smell of feces and urine in her room was very strong, and she felt like vomiting as soon as she walked in.
The Zhou family held a funeral for Old Lady Zhou, keeping everything simple, simply because Old Lady Zhou's children didn't want to spend money.
Before Old Lady Zhou was buried, they had already taken out the money she had hidden and divided it equally. They almost got into a fight over the division of the money. If the villagers hadn't helped them, the Zhou brothers and sisters would have definitely fought each other.
Zhou Yunzhou and Jiang Qingwu were not involved in any of the Zhou family's affairs. If Zhou Yunzhou didn't want to go, Jiang Qingwu would naturally not let him go. No one had the right to ask Zhou Yunzhou to forgive the person who once wanted to throw him on the mountain to feed the wolves.
After Old Lady Zhou was buried, the heavy snow still did not stop. Everyone in the village stayed at home for the winter. In order to save food, some families only ate one meal a day, or even skipped any meals.
Jiang Qingwu asked Zhou Yunzhou to go to the cowshed from a small path to deliver some things to them, to ensure that they could spend the winter safely, or at least not freeze to death or starve to death.
"Yunzhou, take this and go back to thank your wife," Mr. Li from the cowshed stuffed several hundred yuan into Zhou Yunzhou's hands. These were the money he had risked his life to hide.
"Mr. Li, we don't want this. We just want to help you, not for your money."
In the end, the people in the cowshed insisted that Zhou Yunzhou accept the food, so he had no choice but to put it in his pocket and quickly leave the cowshed. He also told them that he would come back to deliver food in a week.
Because Zhou Yunzhou sent them medicine, food, eggs, meat, etc., the people in the cowshed have become less sick recently, their complexions have improved a lot, and there seems to be hope in their lives.
"Wife, I've already talked to the team leader about our family of three going back to Beijing for the New Year. He said it should be possible. Although there are many educated youths in the educated youth camp, few of them want to go back to save money on travel expenses."
"That's good. Let's go get a letter of introduction in a few days. Stay home for a few more days before the New Year, and then we'll come back after the New Year."
Seeing his wife's happy smile, Zhou Yunzhou knew that she missed home. Of course, it was a happy thing to be able to go home.
"Let's have mutton hotpot in the morning. It's comfortable to eat hotpot on a snowy day," Jiang Qingwu said as he looked at the snow outside.
"Okay, we'll eat the pot after our son drinks milk and falls asleep," Zhou Yunzhou was feeding Little Sun milk powder to coax him to sleep.
The two of them did not enter the space today. They ate mutton hotpot in the yard house while watching the snow, and they felt warm all over.
"When we get home, we'll have mutton hotpot with Mom and Dad. Dad loves mutton."
"Okay, I'll listen to you. We'll eat whatever mom and dad want to eat," Zhou Yunzhou looked at her with a doting face.
In the afternoon, when Jiang Qingwu and Zhou Yunzhou were studying together, they suddenly heard a child crying. Zhou Yunzhou thought it was Little Sun crying, but when he turned around, he saw his son crawling around on the bed playing with various toys, and he was not crying at all.
"Wife, did you hear the child crying too?"
"Yes, this isn't our son crying. It's really strange."
The more they listened, the more puzzled they felt. The crying sounded very soft. Could it be coming from the door? Who would leave a child at the door in such a cold day?
Zhou Yunzhou put on his cotton jacket and walked to the door to take a look. There was indeed a very small baby on the left side of the door, wrapped in a thin blanket, and the child was almost unable to cry.
Jiang Qingwu led Xiao Taiyang out of the house and saw Zhou Yunzhou holding a child in his arms. Jiang Qingwu was very confused about what was going on.
"Wife, what should we do with this child?"
