Chapter 4: Eat salty radishes and worry about nothing every day

After a few seconds of silence, Zhou Yunzhou raised his head and asked Jiang Qingwu, "What are you doing in the fields on such a hot day? Go home. We can talk about it when we get home."

Jiang Qingwu waved the bag in her hand in front of him and said with a smile, "I'm here to bring you food. Look, Ergou is eating with his lunch box. Don't you want to eat?"

Although Zhou Yunzhou was a little happy in his heart, he was afraid that Jiang Qingwu would think about leaving him and his son again and asking for a divorce, so he said stubbornly, "I brought some food, you can take it back and eat it yourself."

Jiang Qingwu stiffened her face and pretended to be angry, saying, "What did you bring? Hard biscuits? If you get tired and sick, who will take care of my son? Do you think it's me?"

Zhou Yunzhou immediately assured him, "No, I can take care of our son. We agreed before that we don't need you to take care of him."

"Stop talking nonsense and sit down to eat. I haven't eaten yet and I'm starving," Jiang Qingwu put the food on a clean place and prepared to sit down to eat.

Seeing that she was about to sit on the ground, Zhou Yunzhou immediately gave his son to Wang Ergou next to him to hold him, then took off his black short-sleeved shirt full of patches and spread it on the ground for Jiang Qingwu to sit on.

Jiang Qingwu did not refuse his kindness and sat down directly. Then he opened the lunch box and the fragrance inside wafted out. The people in the field snorted hard to inhale the fragrance and judge where it came from.

Zhou Yunzhou also smelled the fragrance of the food. He sat down with his son in his arms and saw the rice and vegetables in the lunch box. He secretly glanced at Jiang Qingwu several times, wanting to say something but not saying it.

"What do you want to say? Why are you hesitating?" Jiang Qingwu handed him the rice and picked up a few more bites of vegetables for him.

"That's right, just keep the rice and meat for yourself, you don't have to give them to me," Zhou Yunzhou said in a low voice, afraid that he would say something wrong and make Jiang Qingwu angry.

Jiang Qingwu ordered expressionlessly, "Eat. If you say another word, I won't cook for you anymore. Don't say these things in the future. You should eat what I eat. It's not like my family can't afford food. I have money."

Zhou Yunzhou saw that she looked a little angry, and he didn't dare to say anything to make her angry. He could only eat his meal silently, one bite after another. Oh my God, he had never eaten the meal cooked by his wife before, and how could it be so delicious?

Wang Ergou, who was standing next to them, was just angry that Zhou Yunzhou married a wife like that and was still feeling sorry for him. But when he smelled the fragrance of the food brought by Jiang Qingwu, his mouth was watering.

Jiang Qingwu knew that Wang Ergou was Zhou Yunzhou's best brother and had helped Zhou Yunzhou a lot, so he asked Zhou Yunzhou to make some potato chips and fried bacon for Wang Ergou, and then ate with Zhou Yunzhou.

I took out my son's bottle and fed it to him. This was the first time the little guy drank milk powder. He lay on the mat on the floor, moving his little hands and feet around with joy.

Seeing Zhou Yunzhou staring at her and her son, Jiang Qingwu said, "Don't worry, it's not poisonous. He's my son, and I can't bear to hurt him. This is milk powder. He's still young and needs to be fed with milk powder."

Zhou Yunzhou explained quietly while eating, "That's not what I meant. I just feel like I'm not a good father. I didn't even raise my child well."

Jiang Qingwu really wanted to hug him and tell him that it was not like that and that he was a good father, but Jiang Qingwu held back and did not do so.

Her attitude towards Zhou Yunzhou cannot change too quickly, otherwise it will arouse his suspicion and make him think that she has some ulterior motive, which will definitely make him feel uneasy, so she has to proceed step by step.

Jiang Qingwu said coldly, "At least you didn't let him starve. You're much better than me as a mother. Without you, this kid would have starved to death."

Zhou Yunzhou knew that although Jiang Qingwu's words were unpleasant and her attitude was a little cold, she began to care about him and his son, which was a good thing.

As long as she doesn't leave him and his son, he can wait and wait for her to get better day by day. As long as he has expectations in his heart, this expectation can be realized at any time.

This meal was the most delicious meal Zhou Yunzhou had ever had, not only because it contained rice, eggs and meat, but also because it was the first meal his wife cooked for him.

"Your cooking is so delicious. I've never eaten such delicious food before," Zhou Yunzhou praised Jiang Qingwu sincerely.

"It's delicious, eat more. You've been working for many days from now until the double harvest and you're so tired. How can you not eat well? This kettle contains the mung bean soup I made for you. It's been chilled in the well. You can drink it in the afternoon." Jiang Qingwu handed him the kettle.

Zhou Yunzhou showed a rare smile on his face. "Okay, it's time to get to work soon. You should go back and rest. It's too hot."

Jiang Qingwu nodded, and then saw him preparing to carry his son on his back again, "Give me the little sun, I'll take him home and give him a bath. It's too hot here and his face is tanned."

Jiang Qingwu had never taken care of a son before, and she suddenly offered to take care of the son, which made Zhou Yunzhou a little worried. He was afraid that she would not be able to take good care of the son, or that she would take the son away?

Jiang Qingwu said in a sincere tone, "Don't worry, this is our son. I will take good care of him. I will feed him some more milk in the afternoon."

Zhou Yunzhou was willing to trust her once, so he handed his son to her. It seemed to be the natural relationship between mother and son. The little sun was particularly close to Jiang Qingwu, and he giggled as soon as he entered her arms.

Jiang Qingwu took the empty lunch box and went home holding Little Sun. As soon as she left, several women around her came to look for Zhou Yunzhou.

"Yunzhou, why did you leave the child to her? Can you be at ease with her?" Aunt Liu said to Zhou Yunzhou, pretending to blame him but actually making fun of him.

"Aunt Liu, my wife is my son's biological mother. No one has the right to say or interfere with how she takes care of the child," Zhou Yunzhou said expressionlessly.

"Brother Yunzhou, doesn't Aunt Liu care about you? Aren't you afraid that she will take the child away? What if something happens to him?" said a talkative sister-in-law in the village.

Zhou Yunzhou's face turned cold as he glanced at the women. "Whether my wife is good or bad has nothing to do with you. You know very well whether you really care or are just joining in the fun. Stop gossiping about her and worrying about her all the time."

Zhou Yunzhou has been very indifferent to people since his grandmother passed away. He basically doesn't give face to anyone. These women are the source of gossip in the village. They can spread everything throughout the commune, which is annoying.

When these parents heard what Zhou Yunzhou said, their faces turned red and black. They didn't know what to say and quickly dispersed, returning to their own task fields to prepare to work.

They didn't originally care about Jiang Qingwu and Zhou Yunzhou, but just wanted to create a conflict between them so that they could enjoy the fun and have something to talk about while they were busy at work.
