Chapter 13 Arrival

Su Mushang and his family got their marriage certificate, but no one in the Su family in Beijing knew about it except for Su's father, mother, and uncle. Even Su Mudong and his sister didn't know about it, not to mention Grandpa Su and Grandma Su.

Uncle Su is not married and lives alone in the compound. He is not willing to live with other people.

Su Mushang has been with him since he was a child, so their relationship is relatively good.

Uncle Su learned the news when Su Mushang called him himself. He didn't care what kind of lesbian the other party was, as long as his nephew was willing to get married.

When he heard the news last night that his nephew had obtained the marriage certificate, he got up early this morning and started counting his belongings, preparing to send some to them.

The rest will be given to them when they come back. Su Mudong and Su Muxi are not within Uncle Su's consideration. He is just so willful.

But then again, Su Mudong and his sister have never thought about taking his uncle's property or anything like that. The Su family members are very similar in character.

In her early years, Su's mother came from a capitalist family. Later, because of the decision of her father, the whole family joined the revolution.

It was then that Su's mother and father had the opportunity to meet in the army and later got married.

At that time, Su's father only had her as a daughter, so he gave all his property to her, which she hid secretly.

As for these things, Su's mother also distributed them. One portion was given to each of the two sons when Su Mudong got married, and one portion was prepared for the little girl when she was born.

She had already told Su Mudong to keep it himself. As for when or how he wanted to tell his wife, that was his business.

These things cannot be put on the table now, so Su's mother can only collect more bills and money to mail them to Su Mushang and the others. To put it bluntly, they are mailing them to Song Chucheng.

Thinking of her youngest son's temper, Mother Su sighed countless times in her heart. Sigh! I'll just try to save as much as I can!

She picked out two sets of tableware, two sets of tea sets, various fabrics, four quilts, a large bag of down, and a large bag of cotton.

She didn't know her daughter-in-law's body shape, so she could only let her make the clothes herself or ask someone to help her.

If she hadn't heard that there were supplies going to Lizhou Island, she wouldn't have been able to mail all of her items. Her package was too big, and the remaining items would have to wait until they returned to Beijing City before they could be handed over to them.

Song Chucheng didn't know yet that he would receive two big gifts as soon as he arrived at the military district.

She had a good attitude. Although the road was difficult to walk on at that time, it was still within her acceptable range. As long as she didn't get carsick, she would bear the pain of the "Midnight of August".

Along the way, she felt the atmosphere of this era, the mountains, the rivers, which were all different from later generations.

During the seven days, we camped on the spot at night. The most fortunate thing is that it is early September now.

If it were summer, we could pickle vegetables...

There was no such thing as global warming in those days, and even though she was in the south, she still had to wear a base layer and an outer coat.

It is even worse at night, especially when you are near the mountain, and you have to cover yourself with a quilt.

Occasionally, Su Mushang’s comrades would bring some delicious food or come over to chat, and they finally arrived in Li City just before dawn following the large group’s car.

The environment on the boat wasn't particularly bad, just rather simple, and she had no problem with the three-hour journey.

She doesn't get carsick, and now she doesn't get seasick either, so it will be convenient for her to go out in the future.

She will live by the sea in the future, and it would be very inconvenient if she gets seasick.

After arriving on the island, a young soldier helped drive Su Mushang's car. As soon as the two got in the car, they went straight back to the house they had been assigned before.

Su Mushang had never lived there before. He had always lived in the lounge in the military area.

He found living in the staff housing complex troublesome, as he had to run up and down the stairs every day. He had visited the house once before, but he hadn't gone out to see it since.

What he didn't know was that countless sisters-in-law and young wives in the family compound had their eyes on this house, but no one dared to come forward and ask him.

The military family compound was built in a unified manner, with rows of red brick bungalows, and only the row near the foot of the mountain was a small two-story building.

The others are red brick bungalows with yards, large and small. Song Chucheng guessed that it might be related to the weather.

Lizhou Island is close to the sea and can be said to be a high-incidence area for typhoons, so the houses here are all bungalows.

"We're here."

Su Mushang's voice interrupted her thoughts.

Their house is in the upper half near the stream. They are the only family living here, and there are five other families living on the other side of the stream.

There is a small bamboo forest downstream of the stream, and there is also a house on that side. Su Mushang said that no one lives there yet.

The sisters-in-law in the family compound often wash clothes downstream of the stream. There is a bridge leading to the second-floor building at the foot of the mountain, which is also the entrance to the mountain.

Song Chucheng thought the house was pretty good, and she looked around the outside of the house.

She couldn't help nodding as she looked at the house. She was extremely satisfied with it. It had a private entrance and yard, a stream in front, and a piece of land on each side of the yard.

It’s enough to grow some vegetables and fruits, and raise a few chickens and ducklings.

As soon as you enter the yard, you will see a bare area. The yard gate faces the main gate. In front is the large living room, with a row of rooms on each side. On the right is the kitchen, which is connected to the bathroom and shower room.

The outer room on the left is an independent second bedroom, and the inner room is a master bedroom. Except for the second bedroom, both the living room and the kitchen have double doors and can be connected.
