Chapter 96 Heavy Rain Follow-up, Two-in-One

At night, there was a sudden loud thunder!

Even Song Chucheng, who had an excellent sleep quality, was awakened by the shock.

Seeing his wife awakened, Su Mushang immediately comforted her, "It's okay, wife, you go back to sleep. I'll go out and take a look. It's dark outside because of the power outage. Don't get out of bed."

As he said that, he got out of bed, put on some clothes, turned on the flashlight and walked outside.

Song Chucheng sat up from the bed and listened to the sound of heavy rain outside.

The room was pitch black. Song Chucheng touched the match on the bedside table, lit the kerosene lamp, and then lit the one on the dressing table.

She grabbed the clothes at the end of the bed and put them on, then reached out to pick up the kerosene lamp on the dressing table and slowly walked out.

In the living room

Da Mao and Er Mao were sleeping soundly beside Da Bai's family of three. It was windy and rainy outside, and even the thunder and lightning did not affect Da Mao and the others at all. Song Chucheng also lit the kerosene lamp in the living room.

"Sister, why are you up?" Song Miaomiao also walked out of the second bedroom.

"It was raining so heavily, I got up and took a look when I woke up." Song Chucheng looked at the yard and was relieved to see that the drainage outlet in his yard was not blocked.

If the drain is blocked in this way, it will only take an hour for the water to enter the living room.

"I just saw my brother-in-law go out. Is he going back to the military area?" Song Miaomiao found two candles and lit them. Now the whole living room was lit up.

"No, I should go outside and check the drainage problem." Song Chucheng's heart skipped a beat when she reminded him of this.

Their family compound is built on a mountain, so what about the village below? If the rain doesn't stop tonight and continues into tomorrow morning, it will be really troublesome given the terrain below!

"Why are you up?" Su Mushang stood under the eaves at the door of the living room and took off his raincoat.

"Since I can't sleep anyway, I might as well come out and take a look." Song Chucheng said.

"It's okay, Miaomiao, go to sleep too! I checked everything outside, there won't be any problem."

Song Miaomiao nodded when she heard this and went back to the house.

Song Chucheng poured him a cup of hot tea: "What about the village down there? Will it be a problem if it rains like this before?"

Su Mushang put down the tea in his hand and hugged her. "It's okay, go to sleep! This afternoon, the people from the second regiment have already set off for the village on lower ground. The people in their village have also taken precautions."

Hearing this, Song Chucheng breathed a sigh of relief, remembering when she lived with her grandmother.

It was raining heavily at her neighbor's house, and the house where her children lived collapsed. The youngest was trapped inside and couldn't get out. Although he was rescued later, he was left with a disabled leg.

When Song Chucheng heard him say that everything was ready, he went to bed with peace of mind.

the next day

Before dawn, Su Mushang returned to the military area and even asked Song Miaomiao to prepare breakfast.

Song Chucheng was sleeping soundly. When she heard some noise outside, she sat up from the bed, grabbed the clothes beside her, put them on, and walked out.

"Sister, you must have been woken up!" Song Miaomiao said with a smile.

"Well! Why didn't you go to work today?" Song Chucheng saw that she was still mopping the floor, looked at the time and asked.

"I'm on vacation today and I forgot to tell you yesterday!" Song Miaomiao scratched her head and said embarrassedly.

Song Chucheng smiled and nodded, "What's going on outside? Is my sister-in-law here?"

The sky is still overcast, fortunately the rain has subsided, but I don’t know when it will clear up.

Song Miaomiao smiled and said, "Yeah! My sister-in-law brought breakfast here early. My brother-in-law asked me to go get it this morning. I ran into my sister-in-law just as I was about to go out."

"Is something happening outside? Why is it so lively?" Song Chucheng stretched his neck to look outside, but could not see anything.

Hearing her sister asking about this, Song Miaomiao also became excited. She put down the mop in her hand and said, "Didn't my eldest brother and brother-in-law reinforce the edge of the creek? The Liu family across the street did the same as us.

Yesterday, my brother-in-law got up in the middle of the night to check. Brigadier General Liu, who lives across the creek, also got up to go to the bathroom. Seeing that it was raining so heavily outside and seeing the light on our side, he thought something was wrong outside and got up to check. There was no problem on our side, but Brigadier General Liu's side was really blocked. Fortunately, he got up to take a look. After he fixed the drain outlet, he wanted to call Deputy Brigadier General Yao who was downstream, but he saw the light on his house from a distance. Brigadier General Liu thought they had also gotten up to check, so he did not go down and went back to the house to sleep.

The Yao family, who were living downstream, also saw our two families getting up, but they didn't think it was a big deal and were too lazy to get up and clean up.

But when I woke up in the morning, I found that the drain in the yard was blocked, as was the stream outside the yard. Not only was the house flooded, but the vegetables in the vegetable garden were also soaked.

"I started crying early in the morning. Deputy Brigade Director Yao's wife even blamed Brigade Director Liu for draining the water, which caused the flooding in her house." Speaking of this, Song Miaomiao felt speechless. He was lazy and blamed others!

After hearing what happened, Song Chucheng also felt that it was unlucky to meet such a neighbor sometimes. It was obvious that they were just scoundrels!

Besides, regardless of whether they saw Liu Lujia get up to check the drain, Liu Lujia lived upstream and they lived downstream, so there was still some distance between them.

Just like the distance between her house and the house in Zhulin, although the two houses are separated by a road, not counting her vegetable garden, the distance between them is about 100 meters.

Sometimes having a good neighbor can really save you a lot of worries. To exaggerate, it can even help you live a few more years.

Aren’t there many people living upstairs and downstairs in later generations? If you meet a good person, they will be more restrained if you say something to them. If you meet a bad person, they will even mock you. If you dislike the noise, then you should go live in a villa. These things are really annoying!
