Chapter 17 How can someone be so vicious at such a young age?

The prince respected Concubine De and was always kind to the people around her, but Hua Yue's behavior today made him angry.

Fu'er saw with his own eyes how his father beat his mother. He couldn't imagine what kind of shadow such a scene would leave in a child's heart, because as far as he could remember, his father and mother were very loving.

The Queen also pulled her hand out of Huayue's, coughed lightly twice, and said, "Since Ting'er wants to go, then you can go see Concubine De on my behalf. I'm really not able to move any more."

Hua Yue hesitated to speak, but eventually she controlled her temper and returned to her normal demeanor. "It was my fault for not understanding. Her Majesty the Virtuous Consort instructed me not to go out and tell Her Majesty the Empress that the princess had suffered a great disaster. Her Majesty and the princess have always been good friends, and she told me not to disturb you and the princess."

This was quite interesting, and the Queen naturally heard it, but she was also used to it, because Huayue, who was beside Concubine De, had always been like this.

She simply didn't take up the issue.

The prince said, "Mother, please go back and rest first. Fu'er and I will go over and take a look."

The Queen touched Wei Fu's head and said softly to the Crown Prince, "Take good care of Fu'er."

The prince nodded slightly.

Concubine De was indeed very ill. She lay on the bed with a pale face, as if she had no life left. The palace maids and eunuchs in her palace covered their mouths and cried silently.

When these people saw the Crown Prince coming, they immediately knelt and kowtowed to him: "Your Highness, please persuade the Queen. She listens to you the most. She has vomited blood several times, but she won't allow us to call the imperial physician."

Before the prince said anything, Wei Fu, who was in his arms, started to slide down. The prince put her on the ground. The maids and eunuchs in Concubine De's palace then noticed Wei Fu and greeted her respectfully.

The man who was lying motionless on the bed like a corpse heard the greetings from the palace maids and eunuchs, and suddenly turned his head to see Wei Fu. He was startled and sat up from the bed, then started coughing violently, with blood gushing out of his mouth.

The Crown Prince never expected that Concubine De would be so seriously ill. He immediately stepped forward to support her and took out a handkerchief for her. He asked worriedly, "What happened to Concubine De?"

The crown prince was a legitimate son, so he didn't have to call the concubine Defei "mother". However, the queen and Defei had a deep sisterly relationship, and Defei herself had no children, so she devoted herself to her children. Therefore, the queen asked her children to call Defei "mother".

"What are you all still standing there for? Go and get the imperial physician." The situation was so serious, but they still followed Concubine De's wishes and didn't go and get the imperial physician.

Immediately, a palace maid crawled out to call for the imperial physician. Concubine De wanted to stop him, but out of the corner of her eye, she saw Wei Fu walk up to the Duobao Pavilion in her room, then pull out a yellow talisman from the cloth bag on his chest and start to stick it on. She cried out in shock, her eyes bloodshot: "Princess, what are you doing!"

Her shout drew everyone's attention to Wei Fu. Hua Yue was the first to rush over, raising her hand to snatch the talisman from Wei Fu's hand. Her voice was sharp and piercing, like an ice blade scraping at bones: "Princess, are you going to kill our queen before you stop?"

"How can you be so vicious at such a young age?"

Wei Fu deftly dodged Hua Yue's hand and looked at the Crown Prince innocently, explaining, "Brother Crown Prince, the Queen is vomiting blood and losing her vitality because the thing she raised is eating back at her. All we have to do is find that thing and destroy it."

This was not the first time the Crown Prince had heard Wei Fu say that Concubine De was raising something. He was still very concerned about Concubine De's health and could not help but ask: "Mother Concubine De, what on earth did you raise that hurt you? You just let Fu'er destroy it!"

De Fei suddenly pushed the prince away with great force, tears in her eyes, and said in great sorrow: "Your Highness, if you want me to die, then ask the princess to dig out the things I raised!"

Concubine De regretted it. She had regretted it as early as when she came back and felt unwell. How could she be so desperate as to contact such a mysterious person like Wei Fu?

Life is really too leisurely and too smooth.

She didn't know what Wei Fu had done to her to cause her to suffer backlash, but she was shocked that Wei Fu could see so much just by looking at her.

But Wei Fu's skills were not good enough, so he couldn't tell what exactly she was raising.

The prince was more worried about her health than her feeding, and that was enough.

The prince looked at Wei Fu, who told him the truth: "If that thing is destroyed, it will indeed harm the body of the De Fei. But if it is not destroyed, it will cost the De Fei's life."

"Little Princess, do you know what I raise?"

Wei Fu shook his head honestly.

De Fei smiled with relief. As she had guessed, he was still a child after all, unable to even lie or cheat. "Since you don't even know what I'm raising, you want to destroy it. Isn't that a bit too rigorous?"

She took a few breaths, holding herself up, her face pale as she spoke to the Crown Prince, "Your Highness, do you remember twelve years ago when the Second Prince celebrated his first birthday? Suddenly, a palace servant rushed out and tried to kill him. I was very close to him at the time, and was stabbed by him. My life was hanging by a thread. It was because I kept this thing that it saved my life."

"I know there are many taboos in the palace, but I want to live, I don't want to die, so I can only keep it secret from everyone. Now that Your Highness knows about this today, please tell the Emperor and the Empress and let them deal with me."

"Anyway, I can leave the palace, but I will never let anyone harm this thing. It is connected to my life."

The prince was precocious and remembered what happened back then. It was because of that incident that his second brother could not speak at the age of three, could not walk at the age of five, and often woke up in fear at night.

However, there was one prince who started to speak after following his mother to his uncle's house and was no longer afraid when sleeping at night. So the second prince had actually been raised in the queen's mother's family since he was six years old.

Even so, everyone knew that the second prince had some problems. Although he could speak, he was unwilling to talk to others, nor was he willing to have extra contact with others. He just read books all day long, as if books were his whole world.

But there was something wrong with Concubine De's words. The Crown Prince calmly asked, "Since that thing is connected to your life, why would it hurt you? Why would it backfire?"

Concubine De sighed and said, "It's not backlash. Yahe recently returned to the palace. I felt sorry for her and forgot to feed her. I only remembered when I saw the princess in the imperial garden today, so I came back to feed her. She has a bad temper because I forgot to feed her and she was hungry, so she attacked me."
