Chapter 107: We’re Rich!

"Calculating, it should be 2,573 taels of silver. Consider it as my sincerity, I will pay 2,600 taels first. If in the future, the grape wine can still be promoted, naturally I will make up the difference for you."

Shopkeeper Wu’s words were full of self-confidence, implying that the price of this grape wine could only rise, never fall.

Ji Xinhe laughed and said, "Great!"

However, Shopkeeper Wu, looking at the remaining seven urns of wine in Ji Xinhe’s courtyard, couldn’t help but say, "What about these leftover wines... "

"I need to reserve some for myself to sell. This goes beyond your control, Shopkeeper Wu," Ji Xinhe responded humorously.

Shopkeeper Wu now completely understood Ji Xinhe’s character. He would never gain much advantage from this girl. She was shrewd, and he resigned to accept what he was given. After all, the unique grape wine in the town had already satisfied his goal for the business back at Guilin Residence.

"Alright, then let’s settle it that way!" Shopkeeper Wu paid the money, then got up, ready to leave.

He immediately called the waiting servants outside to carefully carry the three urns of grape wine onto the horse carriage.

He had brought three horse carriages this trip, purposely for transporting the grape wine.

No one in Yangluo Bay owned a horse carriage. Those who owned a bullock cart could be considered a well-off family. Suddenly three large horse carriages showed up, causing many villagers to be surprised. Especially seeing these carriages parked in front of the Ji family’s courtyard, many were curious to know what was happening.

Suddenly, they saw several servants dressed up, carefully carrying the large urns from Ji Xinhe’s courtyard, onto the horse carriages.

"Hey, aren’t those the big urns from Xinhe girl’s yard? Why are they being moved away? And even so many people using horse carriages to transport. Could it be something valuable?"

"What valuable? I visited her home last time, saw those big urns, and even asked what they were. The Ji girl said she was learning to brew her own wine. I said the smell of the wine was strange; it’s definitely spoiled."

"If it’s really spoiled, would these people value it so much to move it onto the carriage? I know that these people are from Guilin Residence in town. Would a top-tier restaurant like that treat spoiled wine as something rare?"

People discussed this amongst themselves as the urns were loaded onto the carriages.

Ji Xinhe saw off Shopkeeper Wu, saying, "Have a safe journey, Shopkeeper Wu."

Shopkeeper Wu laughed so much that he could hardly keep his eyes open, turning back every couple steps saying, "Ha, sure, remember if there’s any more good business in the future, let me know!"

She watched as Shopkeeper Wu’s three horse carriages gradually disappeared.

The villagers couldn’t resist asking Ji Xinhe, "Xinhe, what’s the business you’re doing with Guilin Residence?"

Ji Xinhe smiled, "Just sold them some pickles and alcohol, nothing much."

The villagers were instantly confused. Wasn’t it supposed to be spoiled wine?

Ji Xinhe didn’t say more. Returning to her room, she hugged the note for the 2,600 taels, grinning from ear to ear, "2,600 taels! 2,000 in snowflake silver! We’re rich!"

Ji Dong still couldn’t believe that all this was real, he touched the note shaking slightly, "Are we... really this rich now?"

"Of course! This is only a small beginning. In the future, we have to earn even more money, get even richer!" Ji Xinhe said excitedly.

Xiao Bei blankly stared at Ji Xinhe, "Sister, when you were just talking business with Shopkeeper Wu, it didn’t seem like you thought 2,000 taels was a lot."

Why was it that as soon as Shopkeeper Wu left, her attitude changed dramatically?

Ji Xinhe pinched Xiao Bei’s face and said joyfully, "You silly kid, you don’t understand. This is the nature of business. A businessman, has to have an aura. If you can’t overwhelm your counterpart with your aura, how can you have any initiative or advantage?"

Xiao Bei stared at her blankly, not quite understanding.

Ji Xinhe laughed, "You’ll understand when you grow up."

She didn’t expect this innocent kid to understand these complicated things. Anyway, now that she had earned more than 2,000 taels of silver, she was thrilled!

Marquis Mu wasn’t particularly excited about the 2,000 taels. However, watching Ji Xinhe’s ecstatic expression, the corner of his mouth unconsciously curled up into a gentle smile.

Ji Dong suddenly remembered something, "Xinhe, since Shopkeeper Wu is willing to offer us so much profit, we could sell most of the grape wine to him. Why do we need to keep seven urns?"

However, Ji Xinhe smiled and shook her head, "If we gave it all to Shopkeeper Wu, then we would indeed profit a lot, but if we keep more for ourselves, we will profit even more!"

Ji Dong scratched his head, "I can’t think as flexibly as you, so I don’t understand."

Ji Xinhe picked up the writing brush that Xiao Bei used for calligraphy practice, doodling on a sheet of draft paper, she said, "Reserving seven urns for us to sell in our own shop, we can capitalize on the popularity and price that the Guilin Residence has roused for the grape wine. As long as our price is one tael cheaper per catty, we will undoubtedly attract crowds. Even if the Guilin Residence chooses not to raise the price in the future, we will sell at nine taels per catty. Isn’t it more profitable than selling for eight taels per catty?"

Understanding her point, Ji Dong seemed excited and nodded, "Now I see!"

His little sister was really brilliant!

"Moreover, when it comes to making money, we can’t just aim for the money. If we only pursue the money, our vision would be shortsighted. To plan for the future, we have to seek fame! The shop we’re opening, if we want to expand it in the future, we must build a reputation. By leveraging the Guilin Residence, we can take a shortcut to quickly gain popularity, letting everyone know that the producer of the grape wine is our shop! This is our golden signage!"

Everything Ji Xinhe was saying was beyond Ji Dong’s imagination. He noticed she always seemed to have planned ten steps ahead, even when she was just making the first. This forward-thinking strategy was something he couldn’t compete with.

"If our mother’s spirit is in heaven, she must be relieved seeing how smart you’ve become now," Ji Dong said sentimentally.

Ji Xinhe grinned ecstatically, "If our mom knew, she would definitely be thrilled."

Ji Dong laughed and asked, "Speaking of opening the shop, what’s your plan? You told Shopkeeper Wu that you’re not in a hurry?"

"I’m not in a hurry. We need to wait for the Guilin Residence to sell their grape wine for a while before we open our shop, but we should also start preparing. After selling pickles tomorrow morning, I’ll go to town to look for a suitable location." Ji Xinhe said while patting her silver note that was tucked safely in her bag, and joyfully added, "Anyway, we have money now! What location could be impossible to find?"
