Ji Xiulan gave a terrified shout and quickly dodge to one side. Nevertheless, the flower pot smashed onto the table beside her hand. Broken porcelain flew, some striking her body and the pain caused teardrops to nearly form in her eyes.
Before Ji Dong could figure out where such a strong wind came from, another gust blew in, even stronger and with it, snowflakes. The intense wind turned the snowflakes into sharp blades which scraped against Lady Ding, Jin Shi and others.
This immediately triggered a series of wailing and howling.
"Ouch! My face! Where did this cold wind come from? It’s so ruthless!" Jin Shi quickly covered her face with her hands, but her hands were also stung by the wind.
Her roughly hewn, old face was aching, not to mention how much pain Ji Xiulan, with her skin as tender as a flower, was in.
With a flick of his fingers, Mu Houchu shot two pebbles from his sleeve. The pebbles hit the chairs where Jin Shi and Lady Ding were sitting. In the turbulent wind, the chairs fell over. Jin Shi and Lady Ding failed to react in time and fell directly onto the ground.
"Ouch! I must be dead!" Jin Shi couldn’t cope with this sudden "accident" and cried out, howling in pain.
"Hurry, close this window! I’m going to die from the pain!" Lady Ding yelled at Ji Xinhe, who was standing leisurely on the side. Then, she yelled at Ji Dashan, "Quickly, help me up!"
Ji Dashan and Peng Shi quickly went to help Jin Shi and Lady Ding, but before they knew it, an even stronger gust of wind blew in and knocked them over, incidentally also knocking them onto Jin Shi and Lady Ding.
The scene was chaotic, with all four people falling over onto each other and the curse words of Jin Shi and Lady Ding echoing around, making it quite lively.
Turning her head to glance at Mu Houchu who was standing "quietly" on the side, Ji Xinhe couldn’t help but smirk, secretly pleased with the situation.
Jin Shi and Lady Ding finally managed to get up from the ground but their clothes were disheveled and their hair was let loose. Jin Shi’s face was pale as she trembled at the strange wind blowing in, shrieking, "There’s a ghost! There’s a ghost in this house!"
Then, without even giving Peng Shi a chance to support her, she hurriedly stumbled off and ran away.
Peng Shi quickly followed her and even Ji Xiulan, who had been spooked, began to crawl and roll to escape.
Seeing Ji Xinhe and others standing unharmed, Lady Ding suddenly got angry. She intended to scold them some more but the noise from the wind blowing on the windows was so terrifying that she really believed there was a ghost in the house. She screamed and, pulling Ji Dashan, immediately ran away.
The house was finally quiet.
Everyone was gone, and the wind had also stopped.
It seemed like everything that had just happened was an illusion.
Ji Xinhe exhaled a sigh of relief and went on to close the window. "It’s a pity that two chairs are ruined. But we are planning on getting new furniture for our new house anyway, so it’s not a big problem, right?" she said, turning to Ji Dong.
However, Ji Dong was still standing there dazed, as if not yet recovered. What had he seen just now? It was as if "ghost winds" were blowing in from outside the window. When had such a bizarre wind ever been seen at Yang Luo Bay? It was truly eerie.
It took Ji Dong a while to regain his senses. He said with a pale face, "Xin He, it’s not... there’s no ghost in our house, right?"
Ji Xinhe found this amusing, but still managed to contain herself. "Brother, don’t listen to their nonsense. Our house is clean and there’s nothing here. If we have done nothing guilty, we have nothing to fear. Just now the wind was indeed strange. But as it was only targeting them, it shows that the evil spirits outside didn’t like them. Hence, they acted against them. Didn’t we have a quiet house once they left?" she said.
Hearing Ji Xinhe’s words, Ji Dong’s face lightened a little. "I see."
He then patted his chest, his heart still pounding with fear. "I think I’ll find a Taoist to exorcise the ghost later."
Ji Xinhe glanced at a certain person pretending to be innocent on the side and thought, ’I feel like expelling a certain person would be much more effective.’
"Brother, you can get back to your work. I’ll handle the cleaning up here," Ji Xinhe said.
Ji Dong nodded; "Alright."
The house was still under construction, and everyone was hard at work. Seeing that Lady Ding and the others had been so frightened, he figured they wouldn’t be back to cause trouble for a while, so he wasn’t too worried.
Moreover, Mu Chu was there to take care of Xin He.
Ji Dong was indeed worried about Ji Xinhe, a young girl running a business outside all by herself. But ever since Mu Chu had begun following her, he felt more at ease. Though Mu Chu didn’t talk much, he gave a sense of reliability.
Finally, only Ji Xinhe and Marquis Mu were left in the room.
Ji Xinhe then sternly said, "See what you’ve done? Can our crumbling house withstand your antics?"
If other people couldn’t tell, could she fail to see? This man was extraordinarily capable!
Mu Houchu’s expression was indifferent. His emotions weren’t visible, but his voice carried a hint of lingering chill, "I was angry."
Despite appearing aloof, he seemed to be throwing a childlike tantrum at this moment.
Ji Xinhe frowned in displeasure, "Just because you’re angry, does it mean you can damage things at will? If you’re going to be moody in future, why don’t you make the wind bigger? Just blow our shabby thatched house away!"
"I never get angry for no reason," Mu Houchu replied, as he gazed at her intently. His eyes, cold as ice, suddenly softened, resembling a gentle spring lake, "I only get angry because of you."
The sudden change in his gaze caught Ji Xinhe off guard. She felt her heartbeat skip a beat, then in a flustered and somewhat guilty manner, she turned away, "Don’t scare me with your sweet talk."
But Mu Houchu cupped her face with his hand, forcing her to turn back towards him, to face up to his fiery gaze, "Xin He, why are you always unwilling to admit my feelings for you, or your feelings for me?"
Ji Xinhe felt panicked, "What... what feelings do I have for you?"
She instinctively tried to escape, but Mu Houchu turned her back towards him, clasping her chin and forcing her to look up, "Whether you admit it or not, you are mine in this life. As for others, no matter who they are, or what their intentions are, if they dare conceive desires towards you, I won’t let them off easily."
This man, was still so domineering!
Ji Xinhe paused, then forced a laugh, "What if I’m not willing?"
Mu Houchu’s eyes narrowed slightly, lending them a dangerous look. He leaned in closer to her and said in an icy tone: "Why don’t you try it?"
