"I, I, I really don’t know!" The young servant exclaimed, looking completely innocent.
It had been three full days since the fire!
The stocks of Yueke Lai shop were all sold out yesterday, leading to it being closed today because there were no goods left to sell. Yet, the Qinghe shop was still booming and doing brisk business!
How could this be a sign of short supply? They seemed unaffected in the slightest!
Fury grabbed hold of Yuchi Gong, the veins in his forehead threatening to explode. He knew it, he just knew it!
This cunning woman, how could she possibly harm her own interests? She must have had a backup plan!
His fists were clenching and unclenching, and without a second thought, he stormed out.
The young servant swiftly followed behind, shouting: "Master, Master!"
——
The Qinghe shop, which had fallen on hard times in the past, was now bustling and busy. The main reason was that Ji Xinhe had cleared her name through her actions, refuting the false accusation of her secretly learning the craft. Furthermore, the three newly launched products of the Qinghe shop benefited from that commotion three days ago, they received free publicity.
The reputation of their grape wine was already well-established, and now with the addition of these three new fruit wines, which were famed for their rich and fragrant flavour, people were naturally willing to splash out on these new products.
Of course, the business boom was to some extent helped by Yueke Lai’s closure.
Yuchi Gong stood at the door of the Qinghe shop, trembling with anger as he watched the constant stream of customers coming in and out: "What on earth is happening?"
The young servant hesitantly said: "I stepped in a moment ago to find out that there are replenishments being delivered through the back door of the shop."
Yuchi Gong glared at him: "Replenishments? Wasn’t her winery burned down? Where does the stock come from!"
"Well..." the servant didn’t dare to answer.
It probably meant she gave Yuchi Gong an empty winery to burn, and she hadn’t lost a single bottle!
Yuchi Gong felt like vomiting blood. This woman must have sensed that he was going to start a fire, and without saying a word, slyly moved all the goods to a safe place. As soon as he started the fire, she fired back, burning down his winery. On the surface, they were both holding each other to account, reining each other in, and neither of them seemed to lose out.
But in reality, she lost nothing!
Whereas he had lost all his stock for nothing! Now, his Yueke Lai would have to remain shut for at least half a month!
This cunning woman!
Yuchi Gong ground his teeth as he determined to storm in. The young servant quickly held him back: "Master, don’t do this. There are too many people right now. Even if the master goes in and makes a scene, it won’t do any good."
"I can’t swallow this!" Yuchi Gong shook off the servant and prepared to march in with a fearsome aura.
Just then, a calm voice drifted over from a distance: "What is Master Yuchi doing here, visiting my shop first thing in the morning? Things sure are peaceful when the winery is closed, aren’t they?"
Yuchi Gong turned around to see a horse carriage in front of him.
Ji Xinhe was sitting inside, holding a small fan in her hand. She casually flicked the carriage window curtain and sat in the carriage, smiling at him.
Yuchi Gong glared at her, sure that behind that beautiful smile of hers was an immense amount of smugness and ridicule!
"Damn you Ji Xinhe, if I, Yuchi Gong, don’t kill you one day!" Yuchi Gong pointed at her and cursed, his anger clouded his face.
Ji Xinhe did not seem affected at all by his harsh words. Her lips curled slightly: "Really? You can’t handle me now, let alone in the future?"
While speaking, she sighed softly: "Alas, it’s also rather helpless. You can’t beat me in a fight, you can’t beat me in a fair business deal, and can’t even beat me using underhand tactics. It was completely inevitable that you ended up losing all around, and having to come here to threaten me."
"You!"
Ji Xinhe chuckled: "Master Yuchi, instead of wasting time by coming here to threaten me, you should hurry up and push your winery to get back on track. Half a month later, who knows what will happen? When you reopen, will you have any business then?"
Yuchi Gong sneered: "My Yuchi family has been in this business for a hundred years, how could our trade be easily overtaken by a young girl like you? Do you think you can gain much from burning my winery? Wait until half a month later when Yueke Lai still keeps its prestigious status!"
Ji Xinhe’s smile turned slightly cold: "Really? In that case, why don’t we have another bet and see what will happen this time, half a month later."
Did he really think that she strove for this half month just for this small profit?
She was doing it for when Yueke Lai reopened later, it wouldn’t stand a chance against her!
When he stopped, she would not wait for him.
Seeing her faint smile, Yuchi Gong suddenly felt a chill up his spine. This woman seemed to always have a broader vision than him.
He used to underestimate her, thinking that a woman with such short-sighted ideas couldn’t possibly do any big business. It wasn’t until this moment, after repeatedly suffering defeats at her hands, that he realized he had truly underestimated her.
This woman was terribly cunning, and terribly sharp-witted.
Yuchi Gong gave her a spiteful glance, and then hurriedly left. She was right, who knew what plan or arrangements this woman would make next?
Would she take the opportunity when he was shut down to play a trump card, completely cutting off his way out?
The thought alone sent shivers down his spine.
Let alone the fact that the Yuchi family’s century-old business could not be ruined in his hands, but if he couldn’t handle even this little girl, those behind him wouldn’t easily let him off!
After all, he had a mission to accomplish in coming to Da Qian.
As he thought about this, he became anxious. He needed to go back as soon as possible, urge the winery to speed up production, and prepare to reopen!
Otherwise, if he continued to be controlled by this woman, he felt that there would be no end in sight.
Watching Yuchi Gong flee away in disgrace, Ji Xinhe curled the corners of her lips into a mocking smile. She casually lowered the carriage window curtain and got comfortable with her fan, swaying it leisurely.
The coachman outside asked: "Miss, are we going to the shop now?"
"There’s no need. I just came to check on things. The business is so busy that my presence there would only disturb them. Let’s go back." Ji Xinhe said.
Actually, she had heard that Yueke Lai was completely out of stock today, therefore it had to close. She had guessed that Yuchi Gong would probably come to make a scene, so she came here to cut him off at the door to avoid any problems at her shop.
Now that she had achieved her goal, there was no need for her to make a special trip into the shop.
