"You sure have the nerve," Mu Houchu pinched her chin and gritted his teeth.
As they spoke, an abrupt discordant sound came from nearby.
"Oh, what’s the rush? Be careful not to be seen. Let’s go inside first..." A coquettish voice echoed, making Ji Xinhe’s skin crawl.
"Beauty, I can’t wait any longer. Where else should I go? This alley is pitch black. Who else could be here? Hurry up and let me love you properly." The man’s lewd voice was clear too.
The woman laughed, flirtatiously: "Look at you like this."
Then there was a panting sound.
Xinhe widened her eyes in disbelief. What kind of place did they accidentally stumble upon?
"Let’s go quickly!" Xinhe tugged on Mu Houchu’s sleeve.
Mu Houchu stared at her darkly, one hand propped against the wall behind her, closing in on her: "I thought you enjoyed places like this?"
Xinhe’s face turned red uncontrollably: "Who said I like it!?"
Perhaps her emotions were too agitated, alerting the nearby couple involved in their "business." The man’s angry roar came: "Who is that? Interrupting my fun!"
Xinhe hurriedly pushed Mu Houchu to leave quickly.
Who would have known that Mu Houchu would coldly say, "I’ve claimed this spot. Get lost!"
Xinhe had a blank expression, the corner of her mouth twitching. Competing with a customer for a place!?
The man had a bad temper and came cursing: "What do you mean you’ve claimed it? Do you own this entire Flower Street? Do you know who I am ... Ah!"
The man’s words were suddenly interrupted by a scream.
Mu Houchu coldly spat out a word, "Get lost."
The man was terrified, immediately scrambling to run away.
Finally, the alley fell silent. In the darkness of the night, a faint moonlight outlined his handsome features, his slightly chilled eyes narrowing to emit a dangerous glare: "Continue."
Xinhe couldn’t help but swallow, trying to retreat, but behind her was a wall. She seriously suspected that this man was so agitated today over such a small matter because of her deliberate provocation last time, and he still held a grudge!
Such a petty-minded man!
But now that she was in his hands, she could only force a smile and say: "What were we talking about?"
"Now we’re talking about finding a male prostitute." Mu Houchu’s smile was sinister, like he could eat someone.
Ji Xinhe quickly replied, "Finding a male prostitute is not as good as finding you."
She immediately realized that her words didn’t sound right.
She corrected herself: "I mean, a male prostitute is definitely not as good as you..."
Xinhe stared wide-eyed, what kind of words were these?
The man in front of her had even more dangerous eyes, his imposing manner increasingly oppressive. Xinhe laughed until she almost cried: "I was wrong. I would never dare to find a male prostitute."
Mu Houchu directly leaned in to block her soft lips, actually comparing him to a male prostitute?!
In the dark alley, Xinhe was kissed roughly by him, her body turning limp, and she faintly seemed to hear the distant discordant panting sounds. In this flower district, weren’t men and women everywhere?
Was Mu Houchu planning to experience being a client?!
Then what was she?
Just as Xinhe was dumbfounded, Mu Houchu released her. Seeing her spinning eyes, he knew what she was thinking. He pinched her chin: "It seems like you’re always thinking about messy things."
Xinhe glared at him angrily, "It’s all because you insisted on talking in this kind of place!"
Mu Houchu looked at her with a teasing smile, lowered his head to kiss her slightly red and swollen lips: "Be good, I’ll let you know later that finding me is indeed better than finding a male prostitute."
Xinhe seemed to see the long-suppressed lust in his eyes churning, forcing a stiff smile: "Yes, yes."
Quickly adding, "Let’s go then!"
What kind of place was this?
Mu Houchu lifted his lips, laughing coldly: "I thought you liked places like this."
Xinhe’s thoughts: This man really never lets things go!
The moaning from the other side grew louder. Mu Houchu’s eyebrows furrowed, clearly unable to bear listening any longer. He embraced her waist and lightly jumped up, leaping out of the alley.
"Dare to ride a horse?" Mu Houchu asked softly.
He had only brought a horse today.
Xinhe raised her head: "What’s there to fear?" With him around, she could face anything!
Mu Houchu smirked, pinching her waist as they jumped onto the horse’s back, holding her in front of him. He spurred the horse to gallop away.
Xinhe leaned against his chest, nestled in his arms. Even though they were galloping on the horse’s back, a place she had never experienced before, she felt at ease: "I want to learn to ride too!"
"I’ll teach you."
As the night lacked the scorching heat of the day, the cool breeze brought relief while riding the horse through the lantern-lit streets, feeling utterly free and easy.
Xinhe suddenly found it very pleasant. It was a rare feeling since arriving in the capital city, as if returning to their time at Yangluo Bay.
"What are you thinking about?" Mu Houchu asked softly.
The horse walked out of the flower street and headed towards the outskirts, slowly strolling on the lush green grass. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Xinhe leaned back in his embrace: "Not thinking about anything. I just feel that days like this are nice."
"What kind of days?"
Xinhe smiled: "Days with you."
Her heart seemed full.
Mu Houchu laughed, rubbing her head with his chin: "Mmm."
Xinhe said, "These past few days, I’ve been to Wanhua Tower to speak with Miss Ah Lian about a business deal. My Qinghe shop needs to expand its reputation, especially with the impressive century-old brand of Yueke Lai. I fear I won’t be able to withstand the pressure, so I have to cooperate with her."
"Mmm, whatever you want is fine." He rarely worried about her business affairs, knowing her strengths and abilities.
"How’s the investigation of the black bear case going?" Xinhe suddenly asked.
"Why did you suddenly ask?"
"Princess Chaoyang insisted that I attend a small banquet she’s prepared. I think it’s likely related to her. I’ve heard that Concubine Shen will also be there, making the situation even more suspicious, so I agreed," Xinhe explained.
Mu Houchu’s eyebrows furrowed slightly: "Don’t get involved in this."
"Mu Houchu, I want to be a woman who can fight alongside you, not someone who always hides behind you for protection. Moreover, trouble is knocking at our door. Instead of hiding from it, it’s better to face it directly. Fortune favors the bold." Xinhe spoke with determination.
Mu Houchu’s large hand caressed her cheek, lowering his head to kiss her forehead. His smile seemingly radiated warmth and affection.
