Xiao Bei’s eyes lit up: "What playmate?"
"Someone your age, who also turned ten this year. I brought him back out of pity. I thought since you’re studying now and don’t have a study buddy, he could be with you. It’s nice to have more company." Xin He said with a laugh.
About half an hour later, they had already arrived in town. Ji Dong first dropped off Xiao Bei at the academy, and then took Xin He to the town entrance.
Considering the timing, Shulan and the others should have arrived.
Indeed, as soon as Xin He arrived, she could see them from afar.
Shulan was enormously excited and rushed up saying, "Madam! I was worried I might lose sight of you!"
Xin He laughingly said, "Who would get lost, you or me?"
Xiaoyu hastily pulled Shulan to salute: "Did you have a smooth journey, Miss?"
"I had no trouble at all. I need to go run some errands now. Do you guys want to go stay with my big brother first, or follow me?" Xin He said.
Shulan quickly replied: "There’s nothing for me to settle in, I’ll stick with you, madam!"
"Well then, I’ll take you back home with me tonight. Put your luggage on the bullock cart." Xin He laughed and turned to Ji Dong: "Big Brother, since you’re going to the shop now, you can leave their luggage there and take it back home when we return tonight."
Ji Dong nodded: "Sounds good."
Having to open the shop, Ji Dong didn’t stay long: "Be careful then, I’m leaving first."
"Okay."
When Ji Dong took the bullock cart and left, she finally noticed the boy standing next to Shulan and Xiaoyu.
Xin He waved at him and asked, "Why aren’t you talking? It seems your nature isn’t frivolous."
The boy raised his head to look at her: "I like to talk."
Xin He laughed: "What a stubborn child. Never mind, let’s not waste time. Come with me to Guilin Residence, there are lots of things to take care of."
It was Shulan’s first time here. She was curiously looking around and couldn’t help but ask, "Did Miss travel here by bullock cart?"
Shulan had never ridden a bullock cart in her life, she was astonished seeing it.
Xin He laughed: "Yes, we were too poor to afford a bullock cart back then."
Shulan sighed lightly: "If Lord and Lady knew about the hardship Miss had to endure, they would be upset. Lady has even shed tears for Miss secretly several times."
Xin He, however, laughed: "What does it matter? Isn’t this the life story of every rural family? I think it’s great here, at least better than the capital city. I’m now here, which should console my dad and grandmother’s hearts."
Shulan nodded vigorously: "Yes."
While they were talking, they had already arrived at the Guilin Residence.
This town, Lian’an, was far away from the capital city and seemed immune to its influence. Guilin Residence was bustling with activity, proving its status as the town’s top restaurant.
Capital city’s Ruifu Building was superior, but Lian’an Town didn’t have it, so Guilin Residence was naturally the undisputed top spot.
The doorkeeper took one look at Xin He and was stunned for a moment, before joyfully greeting her: "Miss Ji!"
Xin He smiled: "You still recognize me, huh?"
The door boy was ecstatic: "How could Miss Ji be back at this time? I thought I had mistaken you for someone else!"
"Is the shopkeeper in? I need to see him."
The boy quickly ushered her inside: "Our shopkeeper is inside, Miss Ji, please come in!"
In no time, he had brought her in and sent someone to notify Shopkeeper Wu.
Upon seeing Xin He’s return, Shopkeeper Wu was also overjoyed. He swiftly brought her to an elegant room upstairs: "Why did you come back all of a sudden? I heard nothing about it. I heard that everything is going well in the capital, and Guilin Residence might even surpass Ruifu Building. You really did a great job! When our boss writes, he always mentions Miss Ji as a business genius!"
Shopkeeper Wu was becoming more passionate with every word until Xin He had to interrupt him with a smile: "Just because things have been settled in the capital, and Qinghe’s reputation there is shining, I thought it was time and decided not to stay any longer, but to come back."
Shopkeeper Wu happily responded: "It’s great to have you back! Fantastic! I just don’t know if you have any other plans now that you’re back?"
With a silent sigh, Xin He replied: "Of course, I have plans."
Shopkeeper Wu’s eyes lit up, asking hurriedly: "What plans?"
Shopkeeper Wu was an old acquaintance of Xin He and understood her pretty well. This woman, though just a young girl, was clear-minded and firm when it came to business. Ever since Guilin Residence started cooperating with her, their progress had been nothing but upward.
It could be said that there was no loss in any business that Xin He wanted to do!
Shopkeeper Wu was set on this point, which was why he was so attentive to Xin He’s next move, hoping to seize the opportunity to profit somewhere. After all, she was a money tree!
Seeing Shopkeeper Wu’s eager gaze, Xin He knew what he was thinking. While she found it amusing, she remained stoic and tranquil: "Actually, I wanted to discuss something with Shopkeeper Wu. If I hadn’t, I wouldn’t have purposely come to see you. You see, of all the familiar people in Lian’an Town, you’d be the one."
Shopkeeper Wu’s heart fluttered. He eagerly asked: "So what’s the plan? Are we going to introduce any new products?"
Xin He pretended to be thinking deeply as she rubbed her chin, then said: "The most critical issue now is not that."
"Then what is it?"
Shopkeeper Wu asked anxiously.
Even Xiaoyu and Shulan were intrigued, their eyes glued to her, curious about what was to come.
Xin He, beaming, looked at Shopkeeper Wu: "First, I need to find a mansion!"
Shopkeeper Wu was startled, taking some time to respond: "What do you need a mansion for?"
Xin He said: "I’m back in Lian’an Town, but I still haven’t found a place to live, I can’t always stay at my big brother’s house. So, first of all, I need to find a place to settle."
Shopkeeper Wu quickly answered: "Leave it to me!"
He knew that this girl was slick and wouldn’t just want him to profit. But Shopkeeper Wu didn’t mind. He could deliver whatever she demanded as long as it was within his power. As long as she was willing to involve him in her business ventures, terms could always be negotiated!
Seeing Shopkeeper Wu’s evident sincerity, Xin He cut straight to the point: "Have you thought about which business makes the most money in our Lian’an Town, Shopkeeper Wu?"
