Chapter 48 - 048: Not Arguing with Children

Ji Xiaobao couldn’t help himself and immediately stormed out.

On Ji Xinhe’s side, everything was ready and she had called Xiao Bei over to help serve the dishes into the living room.

"Brother, let’s take a break first. The food is ready. It won’t be late to eat before getting back to work." Ji Xinhe shouted from outside.

Ji Dong, who was laying down straw on the roof, hastily brought everyone down.

Jin Bao smacked his lips and said, "I’ve been smelling this aroma for a while. I was so greedy that I finally got to eat. Xin He’s cooking skills are really good."

Ji Dong listened with a hint of pride: "That’s true, my sister has undeniable culinary skills!"

The five men entered the room, and Ji Xinhe had already set up the bowls and chopsticks. With a smile, she invited everyone to take a seat: "Please have a sit. You’ve been working hard all day. I hope this meal suits your taste."

"How could it not suit my taste? My mouth is drooling!" Jin Bao was always the least proper.

"Then eat more so that you can work harder in the afternoon." Ji Xinhe laughed.

Everyone burst into laughter, and was about to start eating, when suddenly, a figure rushed in, violently shoved aside Jin Bao and Ji Dong who were sitting at the table, and lunged at the dishes on the table.

Everyone was frozen in surprise. Ji Xinhe quickly grabbed Ji Xiaobao’s collar and pulled him back.

Ji Xiaobao’s hand was about to reach the plate of red-braised pork when he was suddenly pulled back by the force from behind. He flailed around in frustration: "Let me go! Let me go!"

Ji Xinhe pulled him away from the table, thankfully saving her morning’s hard work.

"Who let you rush in like a bandit and grab things? Are you really going to steal in front of all these guests?" Ji Xinhe held onto him without letting go, scolding him with a stern face.

Ji Xiaobao had been spoiled since he was a child, growing into a little tyrant. Even Ji Xiaolan and Ji Dashan, who were outsiders, would treasure him. Let alone his own natural-blood son, he was spoiled to the point of lawlessness.

But she would not spoil him like Ji Dashan and Lady Ding do.

Ji Xiaobao struggled hard, even trying to punch and kick Ji Xinhe: "Ji Xinhe, let me go! What gave you the right to grab me? How dare you touch me? I’ll have my mom and dad beat you to death!"

At his words, everyone at the table gasped in shock. This child was much too lacking in discipline.

Ji Dong’s face reddened in embarrassment. After all, this was his brother. Any disgrace would reflect back on the Ji family as well.

Ji Xinhe sneered, easily twisted his hand behind his back, rendering his struggle useless. With a threatening tone, she said, "Before mom and dad can beat me to death, if you cause any more trouble, I will beat you to death first, do you believe me?"

Ji Xiaobao immediately felt fear. Despite acting recklessly at home, he was actually quite a coward when faced with even the slightest hint of authority from others. This trait was completely inherited from Ji Dashan’s timid personality. Previously, he only thought that Ji Xinhe was easy to bully. If she somewhat upset him, he could complain to his parents, which would result in her being severely beaten. Because of this incident, whether it was Ji Dong, Ji Xinhe, or Ji Xiaobei, they were all extremely afraid of him.

This was also why he dared to rush in so brazenly this time to steal the meat, but he never expected that Ji Xinhe would suddenly become so ruthless.

Seeing that Ji Xiaobao was starting to look afraid, Ji Xinhe decided to throw him out and be done with it. However, in the next moment, she saw Lady Ding storm in. The sight of her precious son being grabbed by Ji Xinhe caused her face to turn white with rage: "Ji Xinhe! What are you doing to my son?! Are you looking for a beating?" 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

Seeing Lady Ding, Ji Xiaobao immediately started to bawl as if he had found his backer: "Mom, she’s bullying me! Ji Xinhe is bullying me!"

Ji Xinhe let go, tossing Ji Xiaobei in front of Lady Ding, who hurried forward to hold her baby boy like valuable goods: "My precious boy, are you hurt?"

Ji Xiaobao pointed at Ji Xinhe and cursed from Lady Ding’s arms: "It’s her! She won’t let me eat meat, and she intentionally hit me just now. Mom, you have to beat her to death!"

Lady Ding abruptly stood up."Ji Xinhe you’ve become too bold! Dauntless enough to bully my precious boy! You’re wicked and insolent and believe I can’t discipline you! Don’t forget, despite the family separation, you’re still a Ji, and while our parents are still living a meager life, you are eating luxuriously. Do you have any shame? There’s no place for such an ungrateful person like you in the Ji family!"

In the old days, filial piety was supreme, and Lady Ding could only use this argument to suppress her.

Ji Xinhe watched the mother-son duo back and forth with a faint laugh: "Mother, you misunderstood. Where did you get the idea that I don’t want to give you meat? This meal today is for Jin Bao and the others. I have emptied our family wealth to prepare these dishes. Could we just let Xiaobao ruin them in a few bites? There are so many people around. If we don’t know better, we might think that every Ji family’s child lacks discipline."

With these words, the people at the table looked at Ji Xiaobao with more than a hint of disdain.

Lady Ding scolded: "He’s just a child. Why are you being so petty with him? You’re so stingy! I wonder what man would want to marry you!"

Ji Dong became angry and stood up; he could not stand seeing Lady Ding bullying Ji Xinhe and Ji Xiaobei.

However, Ji Xinhe patted Ji Xiaobei’s head: "Xiaobei, go punch him."

Ji Xiaobei was a bit timid: "Huh?"

"It’s okay, your sister’s got your back."

"Ji Xinhe, what are you doing?" Lady Ding’s eyes widened in surprise.

The moment her words fell, Ji Xiaobao seized the opportunity. While Lady Ding was busy berating Ji Xinhe, Ji Xiaobei, whom she hadn’t noticed, headed straight towards Ji Xiaobao and mercilessly punched him right in the face.

Ji Xiaobao, who had been bullying Ji Xiaobei since he was a child, finally received a bit of payback with that punch.

"Wah!" Ji Xiaobao burst into tears on the spot.

"Ji Xiaobei, you sure have the guts!" Gritting her teeth, Lady Ding began to berate him.

Ji Xinhe patted Ji Xiaobei’s head, facing Lady Ding with an innocent expression: "Xiaobei’s just a child. You just said, we can’t be petty with children. Mother, you’ve been fortunate enough to get married twice. Perhaps your capacity for patience should be greater than mine, right?"

"You!" Lady Ding was half dead with anger, and yet she couldn’t find anything to say. Ji Xinhe’s previous words had mocked her for being remarried.

Lady Ding fiercely pinched Ji Dashan: "You good-for-nothing! Your own son is being bullied like this and you won’t say a word?! You’re okay with them feasting luxuriously here while we suffer at home, eating rough food? Can you bear to witness it?!"

Ji Dashan yelped in pain, so he had no choice but to step forward. However, he didn’t dare to look into Ji Xinhe’s eyes and awkwardly said: "Xinhe, your brother is still young and in a growing phase..."
