Mu Houchu savored her deliberately gentle touch, his heart growing sweeter with every stroke. He paid no mind to the pain of his injuries. He only chuckled warmly to himself.
After Ji Xinhe cleaned his wound and applied the gold sore medicine, she wrapped it gently with gauze. Unable to contain her curiosity, she finally asked, "What on earth were you doing today?"
He left late at night and came back bruised and battered. How could she possibly believe that he’d just gone out for a leisure stroll?
Her small hands skillfully wrapped his wound with gauze. With every touch, a spark ignited within him—unbeknownst to her.
But Mu Houchu’s hand hidden beneath his sleeve clenched into a fist, his body growing rigid. He was now, suddenly regretting allowing her to treat him.
"If you want to know me, I’ll tell you everything." Mu Houchu’s voice was laced with controlled hoarseness.
The flickering candlelight cast an eerie glow that only added to the ambiance of ambiguity.
"You’re eating my food, living in my house! And you’re doing shady things behind my back. How can I tolerate this? If you don’t start talking, I’ll kick you out!" Ji Xinhe retorted irritably.
Smiling, Mu Houchu responded, "Well, when you put it like that, it makes sense."
Ji Xinhe was about to agree.
"But at the end of the day, you’re just asking all of this because you care about me, you’re curious about me. There’s no need for such pretenses," he continued.
As Ji Xinhe tightened the bandage around his wound, Mu Houchu involuntarily gasped. Maintaining her chilly demeanor, she warned, "You’d better keep it to yourself."
By now, she’d realized that this man thrived on praise—even the smallest amount could make him shine brightly.
Mu Houchu laughed helplessly, finally revealing, "Today, I visited the iron mine in the neighboring town."
Ji Xinhe’s attention shifted immediately. Her ears pricked, she asked, "What were you doing there?"
She had suspected all along that he’d gone there.
"Just investigating something."
As she continued to wind the gauze around his wound, her thoughts flew off in all directions. She asked, "Why are you so interested in this iron mine? Is that why you’re staying in Lian’an Town?"
Mu Houchu felt her slender hands continuing to swirl the bandage around him. Occasionally, the bandage would wind around to his front side. Since she was sitting behind him, she had to extend her arm around his torso to pass the bandage. He felt her lean closer to him to ensure a careful dressing. He could even feel her stray locks of hair brushing against his back as she worked.
The veins on Mu Houchu’s forehead pulsed, his lips pressing tightly together. "Not entirely."
Finally, Ji Xinhe finished bandaging his wound. She sighed lightly as she tied a neat bow on his back. She casually asked, "What else is there?"
Mu Houchu’s last shred of sanity completely shattered.
"Ah! Mm..." Ji Xinhe let out a small gasp, barely having time to react before his lips smothered hers. His aggressive, invasive kissing carried a touch of recklessness and dominance. He didn’t leave her any room to resist or push back. His intense kiss left her almost breathless.
Ji Xinhe was dazed from the heavy and aggressive onslaught of his lips. But when his hand suddenly touched her skin, she instantly sobered.
"Mm...Mmmm!" Ji Xinhe’s eyes widened in struggle. She couldn’t even get a word out, but you could hazily make out her muffled cries: "You bastard!"
But Mu Houchu had completely lost all rationality at this point.
Suddenly, there was a crisp "bang" as the porcelain bottle containing the gold sore medicine rolled off the bed and smashed onto the floor.
Mu Houchu paid it no mind, his hand quickly undoing her inner garment.
Furious and helpless, Ji Xinhe couldn’t resist against his strength. Her hands were pinned above her head, and she was left bare and helpless under his gaze. Anger welled inside as she found herself unable to awaken the beast within the man.
Right then, the sound of approaching footsteps reached their ears. Ji Xinhe was startled, cold sweat breaking out on her skin.
Mu Houchu also noticed, frowning slightly in annoyance. Still, he halted his advances, pulling the quilt quickly to cover Ji Xinhe completely, ensuring not a shred of her was exposed.
Once her hands were freed, Ji Xinhe instinctively tried to break away from him. However, Mu Houchu, lowering his voice, warned, "If you want to marry me quickly, just pull off the blanket and let the events of tonight be revealed. I honestly don’t mind." 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
Ji Xinhe, muffled by the quilt, indignantly responded, "You’re the one who’s forcing..."
"Hmm? This is my room, so if anyone was thinking, they’d probably think you came to seduce me, right?" Mu Houchu raised an eyebrow.
"You!"
"Shh, someone’s coming."
Ji Xinhe was left speechless, suffocating on the anger that welled in her chest. She had no choice but to stay quiet, concealed under the blanket.
From outside the door, a voice called, "Mu Chu, are you okay? I heard some noises coming from your room." It was Ji Dong. The sound of the porcelain bottle shattering must have roused him. He’d been on high alert ever since Yang Luo Bay had a burglary incident recently.
Mu Houchu replied indifferently, "I’m fine. I got up to use the bathroom but accidentally knocked over a porcelain bottle on the dresser."
Ji Dong, still somewhat uneasy, pushed the door open for a look. He saw Mu Houchu lying half-reclined in bed, covered with a thick quilt. Not spotting anyone else in the room, he was reassured, "I was afraid someone broke in here. As long as you’re okay, head back to sleep. It’s already late."
